I'm judging the quality of the food Their chicken Tikka is like heaven in earth, I have tried so many places around the country. Their naans are so fresh and fluffy and really a good size for the money I live in st Louis but visited Tikka Grill by coincidence in 2010 when I had an interview in New York, I have never forgotten my reaction after my first bite of the chikken Tikka, I did not visit NY again until recently, my plan was to visit Tikka Grill after 9 years and was hoping the flavors will be the same. I had 2 Tikka roll not because I was hungry but because I knew I won't be back to NYC for some time and I will miss this food, I even took 4 orders to go on my way back to st Louis for the whole family to enjoy for dinner (yes food flew with me in the airplane) BTW they don't take credit cards so bring some cash with you Great job Tikka Grill, I wish we have something like you in st louis read more

It's a hidden gem, but only the food! Not sure how to put this nicely, but there is no service you just order and eat. The ambience is nonexistent definitely not a high and restaurant at all definitely a hole in the wall but if you want some good kebabs with naan definitely the place to go. read more

Terrible customer service. I placed an online order for pickup but once we got there they told us that they canceled the order since some of the dishes that we ordered were not available. I had to cancel the order on the app. They offered no alternative and wanted us to leave. They could at least have offered us to place another order with what is available. Very rude. read more

Kudos to my wife for being adventurous enough to try this place. We drive by this place at least 3 times a week and rarely see anyone going in or out. We decided to check to see if any Yelpers have stopped by which would help us decide whether or not to try it out. I have to say we're glad we did. I talked to two different guys behind the counter and neither of them were very friendly, but that's tolerable as long as the food is good. Check the pix we took, you'll see that it's clean about 4 tables with several options to choose from on the hot trays. It was about 1:30p on a Sunday and they all looked fresh and the place was mostly empty. We decided to play it safe for the first time around: A lunch special - chix tikka masala, vege (chic peas), white rice and a tiny side salad with white sauce for $7! Fresh Naan for $1 each! Anne and I ate very well for $9 for the both of us. The chix tikka masala was fresh, good and surprisingly not very spicy. We like our Indian food a little on the spicy side, but it was definitely good enough for us to say we would likely be back. I'm pretty sure there was a sign that said "openings til 11:30p." This is the type of place I miss from London and Birmingham. I had the chicken biryani. It was a fair portion for $7. The dish was very tasteful, and it was ready quite quickly. It looks like the menu changes on a daily basis. They have example plates of the dishes available for the day in a showcase at the front of the store. Also, they serve breakfast all day. read more

Spent a total of 2 mins inside this place before being completely skeeved out. It looks like a dump but surprisingly they have an A rating. I only decided to give this place a try because a friend of mine raves about it and they're literally 2 blocks from my house. I had my doubts about this place before walking in but against my better judgement....I went in anyway. The place was so small and it was filled with older Indian men at the very few tables they had. On display.... there was food in plastic which looked absolutely gross..almost like old, dried up vomit. The man behind the awkwardly, small counter looked at me like I had 6 heads when I asked for Chicken Korma which they didn't have. From what it looks like...they only serve a total of 6 meals and surprisingly Chicken Korma wasn't one of them. I was honestly glad that they didn't have what I had ordered because the meat looked dark & disgusting. Pre-Yelp, I would have looked at a random food establishment in an industrial area near LGA and recoiled in fear. Now, it's more like, "I haven't been to a 4 star place within a mile of where I live?!" I had the opportunity to check out Tikka Grill for lunch today and left very happy. Their menu is primarily Pakistani and Indian Halal food. Everything is made fresh to order. Since it's a family-run kind of place, they will customize anything you want. The menu is huge for such a small place. I got a few chicken seekh kababs, which come as one long sausage, as opposed to chopped meat pieces on a skewer. They are flavored with onion and herbs, and I don't think I've ever tasted so much flavor in chicken before. As an off-the-beaten-path kind of place, portions are huge and prices are not (they have multiple enormous platters for $10). I'm looking forward to getting delivery from here. Something tells me that eating their food with the ambiance of my living room will enhance the flavor in a way that their adjoining Gulf Station did not. read more

The service is really good. I know they cater to the South Asian cab drivers, so if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me. Don't be put off by the lack of decor, it's delicious food. My personal favorite dish is the rice pudding. This is definitely a surprisingly good find. read more

The chicken was moist and tender and perfectly spiced. The wrap (a naan) came with sliced onions and a fiery yoghurt-based sauce that oozed out as I ate my way through (should've kept the wrapper on). No lettuce/tomato nonsense; this ain't whitey food. And these guys do not mess around when it comes to spiciness. This stuff is professional grade. If it weren't for the grime and the interminably slow counter service, this place would get a solid 4 stars. read more

Okra curry! They have good vegetarian options. I used to work over near this place. Parking is sometimes tight, lots of car service guys eat here because it's near the airport. Sometimes planes are landing over the place. They have Pakistani TV piped in there. The woman do the cooking, and the men run the counter. Seems like a family joint, the guy seems really tired sometimes, oppressed by his life, but he's mostly friendly. If I'm ever in that area, I'm going back there. I would recommend a call ahead order if you are in a rush or pressed for time. I had #1 combo of Chicken Tikka combo and added a side of garlic naan. Chicken and rice were spiced mild to medium and cooked perfectly. My order took about 10 minutes to prepare. The garlic naan was really heavy on the fresh garlic and was very tasty. No one has reviewed the Tikka Grill for awhile so I figured I would throw in a new one. This place has not changed much since the last reviews. It is a dive that serves really good Pakistani food for cheap. My 4 stars are for good food in a nice dive.The eating area could use a scrub, but the kitchen and servers seem clean. It is the size of a small hotel room and Pakistani tv is playing overhead. The clientele is eclectic. From cab drivers to families and businessmen in suits. Only 5 or 6 tables for eat in. You could be on a street corner in Pakistan. That's the beauty of NYC. The food was tasty. I had the chicken tikka wrap. It was chicken tikka, lettuce, tomato and sauce. I got a chili dipping sauce on the side. A rice pudding was nice for a sweet. There were other options like a sweet carrot salad, and sweet dough balls. Place isn't as it appears in prior photos from 3 yrs ago. Place appears smaller. Looks like they put up a wall to divide kitchen from dine in area. Has six small two seater tables. Full menu isn't available for viewing. Already knew what I wanted by checking out online menu. Had chicken tikka masala with plain naan and someone else ordered grilled chicken tikka over rice. Grilled chicken tikka was grilled fresh to order. Had to wait a few minutes for it but totally worth it. Incredibly tender and full of flavor. Masala was just as flavorful. Naan was fresh and hot. Arrived on paper plates with plastic utensils. Restaurant is on landing flight path for Laguardia but never heard a single plane until I walked outside. Pakistani television on. As a side note: not sure why but the side door was open for a little while and I could definitely feel the cold draft. The door was closed after 10 minutes but it had already cooled down my food. These guys need to change the name for their restaurant immediately. Why? Because the name TikkaGrill is a federal trademark of another restaurant company in California. They should have done more homework prior to picking this name. The restaurants in CA have been in business for 18 years with the name TikkaGrill. read more

I'm giving this restaurant five stars 1) because the food is quite delicious and 2) they delivered to our hotel (Comfort Inn by La Guardia). Not a fan! Needed to walk to a place near my hotel on a La Guardia overnight. From all the reviews, I thought I would try this place out. First of all, it was kind funny walking in and being the only women in there. I ordered my food to go. Yes, there are a lot of local chauffeur type drivers here. Not much of a menu, so I went off of what I saw on Yelp and ordered Chicken Tikka Masala. Didn't like the sauce at all. Not very flavorful and tasted more like fat and not in a good way. The meat was cooked fine, but the sauce seemed to leave a film in my mouth, daily bland. The Naan was good and the rice, well, was rice. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but not impressed. read more

This place has excellent food and good portions at fair prices - Fresh made (you may need to wait 10 to 15 minutes) and very tasty. From the outside, the place doesn't look like much and inside it's like 8 ft wide by 25 ft long with no frills. You'd be forgiven if driving by you thought it was a corner store, but don't be a hater. It's one of the best places to eat on an otherwise crappy (food-wise) section of Astoria Blvd that runs from the fringes of Astoria and through East Elmhurst. Naan are the only good thing this restaurant has, rest of food has too much oil, the Tikka's usually slightly raw. Food is cooked 1 week ago and served till all gone. On top of that charge like there running only restaurant in that area. Cup of tea $1.25 which is made in same pot as the old tea leaves were used and reused. They charge over there standards and only fools would over pay for that kind of food! read more
