We were in for lunch.. very convenient with a set thali of dal soup, samosa, Kheer, rice and Nan. There is a variety of veg and non veg curry to choose from... all for $14.99. Nice ambience with quick service. We got an extra order of garlic naan which was perfect. Appetizer onion pakora was huge portion and perfectly crispy. Restroom was clean and well kept. Probably the best Indian food I've had to date. Their food is so full of flavor, and they had some more creative dishes you typically don't come across for an Indian restaurant. We ordered: Gobi cauliflower (Manchuria): very good. Not too fried or over breaded. Just right Eggplant chaat: creative take on samosa chaat Tikka chicken masala - hot: so good. Would 100% recommend and I see why it is in the name Lamb chettinad - incredible coconut flavor. Very well balanced with very tender meat. Garlic naan: the best. Not too much garlic, but really fresh and fragrant 10/10 would recommend. Would drive out of the way in Sarasota or Tampa to get here Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Husband and I went here last night (a Saturday) at 6 pm and it was great! We called ahead for a table and it was ready as promised. It's in a strip mall on Fruitville but once inside you would never know that- it's very pretty. Service was wonderful. I got a California Pinot Grigio to drink and it was a very generous pour. My husband got Taj Mahal beer- they have a choice of lower alcohol and higher alcohol content which we had never know about. Papadum with 3 dipping sauces is on the house. The Malai Kofta was delicious- much lighter than usual which we liked. We also tried the Malabar curry with chicken which was very good but I wish was a little more coconut forward. Rice comes with entrees. Garlic Naan was very good as well. Bill came to about $64 which was very reasonable. We will definitely be back- I have my eye on the eggplant app! read more

Newly opened (a couple of months). Nicely decorated with great pictures on the wall! Friendly, knowledgeable and efficient service. All the food was fantastic! Even ordered an extra entree to take home to have for lunch this week. The water was nicely filtered and tasted great. The wine was served in a very large glass with a generous pour and was very nice. Complimentary (with dinner) crispy chips with three dipping sauces was very interesting. One sauce was mint and a very little bit spicy, the other was a tomato-based onion relish, and the third had a delicate sweeter flavor - sort of like a bbq sauce, that's as close as I can get to describing it, and that's not really close. All very tasty. The eggplant appetizer - Eggplant Chana Chat - was excellent! A party in the mouth, my wife says. The fried Onion appetizer with interesting spices crispy flash fried curry leaves served with a mint sauce was superb! Huge bowl - a must share item.... I also liked them with the other two sauces from the crisps. The Garlic Naan - what can I say - butter, garlic, and bread with other seasonings - I'm sorry I let my wife talk me out of getting two of them.... Dip them in the butter sauce, too. And we haven't even gotten to the main courses yet... The Chicken Tandoori was wonderful - very tender and nicely seasoned. It came out sizzling hot on a metal plate. The butter chicken was perfectly flavored, the chicken in large chunks and cut it with a fork tender. Ordered mild, but had just the right amount of heat. Lovely! This is what I ordered an extra of to take home for lunch later. On Saturday at a quarter to 5pm it was empty but at a quarter after it was half full. Plus a lot of take out service. The word is apparently getting around. I'm out of adjectives so I guess I have to stop. We will certainly be back! read more

The curries all come with a lot of basmati rice so no need to order extra. If you do want extra, the coconut rice has lots of real coconut flakes in it and it's pretty good. The chicken 65 is a little spicy and very flavorful. I liked it but would try something different next time. The onion bhaji (onion strings) are delicious and you get a ton of them. I like the $11 Maso Canali pinot grigio but my wife doesn't - she likes the Canyon Road cab sav on the menu. The butter naan is fantastic. It can get a little hot in the restaurant so dress appropriately. The pani puri (summer special) was fun to try but not my favorite. Overall everything is great and you should come here. read more

The food was outstanding! Had the Garlic Naan, Eggplant Chaat ( amazing) and the ( medium spice) Lamb Marsala with Basmati rice. So flavorful and filling. The spices were fresh a d the butter chicken sauce was thicker than usual which made it even better. Don't skip on the samosas! The tamarind sauce has this tart kick that pairs perfectly with the samosas! The chile naan is the right amount of spice and very buttery! They had a nice crisp to them as well! My husband got the mango lassi and he enjoyed that as well. There are a few hard cuisines to come by in Sarasota and Indian is one of them. This place is a must go and we will be visiting often!
