Food was fine, good quality. Service during meal ok tho a bit pushy in upselling. We had numerous people stop by the table asking how everything was. So around 7:45 we got the bill and paid. Very shortly after the waiter came over to tell us there were people waiting to sit and would we please leave. I said what? He repeated that he needed the table to seat other guests. We looked at each other in disbelief but my friend and carried on our conversation as we were in no hurry to leave yet. The waiter was getting antsy standing near us. It completely ruined our dining experience. When we did leave a short time later there were a few open tables available and nobody waiting so there was no need to rush us out. Seems to me this waiter was overly eager to seat more customers in his own station to make more tip money for himself. Really not a hospitable thing to do to your customers. Was very rude of him and left really bad taste after our pleasant meal. On our way home from Tampa, we were famished and decided to stop at Tandoor in Sarasota. I haven't been there in years and I remembered they had delicious lunch buffets. Meanwhile they moved a few stores down and expanded into a beautiful restaurant. Justim was our server and explained that the lunch buffet was only on the weekends. But he handed us a special menu, where you get one protein, two veggies and two naan bread along with basmati rice. Dave and I both chose the mild lamb curry. I got the eggplant and lentil sides, and Dave the lentils and mixed vegetables. I don't know what I expected, but I sure was surprised! The lamb curry was very tender in the curry sauce. The eggplant was sautéed and almost puréed in a delicious spicy sauce and the lentils were in another great tasting compote. The naan was warm and the basmati rice perfect for sopping up all that tasty gravy. I finally had made the right decision when ordering lol! Though the mixed veggies weren't anything like I expected, sautéed and almost puréed too and very flavorful. I was so excited to try out this Indian place because I am a big big fan of Indian food. We had a reservation for a party of 5. The hostess was very nice and accommodating. She sat us at a table in the back meant for 6 people so we were very comfortable. The waiter was nice too (even though he never came back to check up on how we are doing with the food) however, the food was just not good and they skimped out on rice. We ordered 5 entrees and only got 2 dishes of rice. Our waiter was nowhere to be found until it came check time so we didn't have enough rice for the 5 of us. The butter naan also came out a bit later than the rest of the food. I ordered my chicken do piaza medium spicy but it was completely mild. There was not much flavors other than salt. It was such bland Indian food! I also ordered extra veggies (+$2) but there was barely any. Don't let the picture fool you. The veggies you see on top was basically all the veggies there was in that dish. Most sauce with some chicken and few veggies. The garlic naan was also very bland. I didn't taste any garlic flavor whatsoever. It was also burnt in some places. Overall, for the price, I didn't think it was worth it at all. Pricy and bland food. I left disappointed. read more

I was by myself so I felt bad for taking a table, however I did double my tip to compensate. The channa masala was piping hot, as well as the naan and rice. The flavor was good, and the food was plentiful. I ordered medium spice, which was not spicy at all. So if you like spice raise the level, because medium is more so mild. The vegetable Samosas were plump and tasty. The darker sauce was great with it. Not sure what it's called. The onion chutney was more liquid than onion. I really enjoy onion chutney normally. I have to say they do bring it out complimentary prior to your meal. When you check in on Yelp, you have an offer for an Indian cold tea. I didn't use it. I didn't want to hold the table up for someone else. Bryce was my server. He was nice, quick in his service, and helpful. I would like to acknowledge the hostess. As I sat next to the hostess stand, I witnessed how proficient she was handling the masses that kept coming in. By that time there was a 25-30 minute wait, however everyone was okay with waiting. She was professional, and offered options for seating, as well as took patrons phone numbers so they could walk around in the plaza while waiting. Impressive! Tandoor really cares about delivering stellar service and quality food. My mom has been living here almost 10 years & I suggested Indian because I'm vegan and she doesn't eat red meat. We go on a Friday around 7p so it was the busy dinner crowd but thankfully a couple was on their way out and we only waited 10-15 minutes. The ambiance really gives the effect that you're in an authentic Indian restaurant. I felt like I was invited into someone's personal space, so beautiful. Now let's talk about the food and drinks. First of all, I am EXTREMELY indecisive when it comes to what I want? especially when there is a whole list of vegetarian/vegan options. I can appreciate the inclusivity which is why I picked Tandoor because I can find something to eat every time I get Indian food. Our waiter Justin was super friendly and helpful with our decision making. For drinks, I had the White Sangria & my mom chose their signature margarita. Justin made our drinks and thank goodness because they were AMAZING!! I'm not a big drinker but it was the perfect amount of sweet, tart, and deliciousness to get the night going. We then ordered the Veg sampler since my mom & I eat differently, she took the paneer and looooooved the samosas(perfect amount of crunch, flavor, & softness inside with the peas and potatoes) and I got to hog all the pakoras because she hates onions. By far the best pakoras I've ever had. Typically they're too soft and fall apart but I liked how they blended the veggies in one. The Aloo Tikki was Yummmmmmmm. I think the sampler is the best way to go, they have a veg option or traditional sampler platter for meat eaters. For the main course, my mom had the butter chicken with naan and she soaked that bread in the sauce so much we thought she was going to drink it up! Hahah it was that good!! I had the Aloo Saag a little spicy and was I impressed. Super rich in flavor, the potatoes were cooked to perfection, and I really liked the spinach to potato ratio because I love spinach. The basmati rice was also perfect, absolutely no complaints there. The kitchen staff must be Michelin stars because everything that came out was the highest level of quality!! We also had the owners come over at different times, I believe the mom and her son, to ask about our service and how everything was going. Not only was Justin, our waiter, very attentive and checking on us not too much, but just the right amount, the owners coming over really made us feel special and you can tell they are passionate and believe in this restaurant being successful.
