Love Tandoor every time we come. It is the standard I hold ALL OTHER Indian restaurants to. Today's lunch was a delight with curried lamb and vegetables in small 4-5oz bowls. Cooked like a compote or thick soup it is nicely spiced to the American palate. Justim was our server and explained our options. A joy to have a readied lunch from the stove with minimal wait. Often in season Sarasota restaurants are overcrowded with ill informed wait staff. Not here! We took the lunch specials because their name is on it. We were delighted with servings. On our way home from Tampa, we were famished and decided to stop at Tandoor in Sarasota. I haven't been there in years and I remembered they had delicious lunch buffets. Meanwhile they moved a few stores down and expanded into a beautiful restaurant. Justim was our server and explained that the lunch buffet was only on the weekends. But he handed us a special menu, where you get one protein, two veggies and two naan bread along with basmati rice. Dave and I both chose the mild lamb curry. I got the eggplant and lentil sides, and Dave the lentils and mixed vegetables. I don't know what I expected, but I sure was surprised! The lamb curry was very tender in the curry sauce. The eggplant was sautéed and almost puréed in a delicious spicy sauce and the lentils were in another great tasting compote. The naan was warm and the basmati rice perfect for sopping up all that tasty gravy. I finally had made the right decision when ordering lol! Though the mixed veggies weren't anything like I expected, sautéed and almost puréed too and very flavorful. This is a great Indian restaurant located in the Shoppes of University Center across from the University Mall. We will definitely return again! read more

Food was fine, good quality. Service during meal ok tho a bit pushy in upselling. We had numerous people stop by the table asking how everything was. So around 7:45 we got the bill and paid. Very shortly after the waiter came over to tell us there were people waiting to sit and would we please leave. I said what? He repeated that he needed the table to seat other guests. We looked at each other in disbelief but my friend and carried on our conversation as we were in no hurry to leave yet. The waiter was getting antsy standing near us. It completely ruined our dining experience. When we did leave a short time later there were a few open tables available and nobody waiting so there was no need to rush us out. Seems to me this waiter was overly eager to seat more customers in his own station to make more tip money for himself. Really not a hospitable thing to do to your customers. Was very rude of him and left really bad taste after our pleasant meal. Meanwhile the bathroom needed a clean up and the trash can was overflowing so maybe more attention is needed in that department instead of harassing paying guests. read more

We went on a Sunday for the buffet. At 2495 the buffet was mediocre at best. There were two of us. One of us had a significant piece of black hair in our food. Obviously that's a major turn off so we did not finish our meals. Definitely are not going to go back. The hair was the thing that threw it over the edge, but the food was very average. This woman owned, family business is a classic establishment, that is welcoming to experienced or novice Indian food guests. The service is attentive and friendly. They are kind in explaining the varied dishes, even though the menu has detailed descriptions for each dish. My favorite dish of the Chicken Tikata is a perfect blend of flavors and grill. Served with a side of Basmati rice. This is a full meal but get the Garlic Naan, it elevates your meal. The restaurant has plenty of booths, and with larger tables in the back. Reservations are accepted and Call-Ahead is also available. A full bar offers 2 pages of drink options. Take-out here is nonstop. Open for lunch and dinner. I was so excited to try out this Indian place because I am a big big fan of Indian food. We had a reservation for a party of 5. The hostess was very nice and accommodating. She sat us at a table in the back meant for 6 people so we were very comfortable. The waiter was nice too (even though he never came back to check up on how we are doing with the food) however, the food was just not good and they skimped out on rice. We ordered 5 entrees and only got 2 dishes of rice. Our waiter was nowhere to be found until it came check time so we didn't have enough rice for the 5 of us. The butter naan also came out a bit later than the rest of the food. I ordered my chicken do piaza medium spicy but it was completely mild. There was not much flavors other than salt. It was such bland Indian food! I also ordered extra veggies (+$2) but there was barely any. Don't let the picture fool you. The veggies you see on top was basically all the veggies there was in that dish. Most sauce with some chicken and few veggies. The garlic naan was also very bland. I didn't taste any garlic flavor whatsoever. It was also burnt in some places. Overall, for the price, I didn't think it was worth it at all. Pricy and bland food. I left disappointed. read more

THE SAAAAAAG! THE SERVICE!! My mother, 2 year old and I came through for lunch today and it was absolutely delicious. It's so good I come back every time I'm in Bradenton... it's the absolute BEST. We ALL love the saag paneer with cheese naan. Especially my 2 year old, whose a Saag snob but also a pretty picky eater. We just ate leftover for dinner and I had to leave a review. Just incredible food, and Justin and the entire team are chipper and steady and ever-ready with smiling service. It's a very impressive staff, and I've felt that way every time I've been in - whether I'm dining in or picking up.
