This was one of the worst stays I've ever had somewhere. The primary bathroom shower had hair still in it. Strands on the walls, and ledges. I didn't tell the front desk so they didn't have a chance to correct it, but it should have been clean to start with. The drawers in all of the dressers had hair in them as well, with 1 drawer looking like it had pubic hair! The fridge didn't get cold enough, even on the almost highest setting. The freezer was fine. Most of the staff looked very young and I saw them goofing off in hallways instead of working. Then there was an electrical fire in a condo on our floor that no one was staying in! Thankfully the fire was contained and no one was hurt. Another fire alarm went off on our final night there, but there was no fire. We all went outside at 4:40am just to be told we could go back in. It was very hard to go back to sleep after that. I don't plan on returning. This place has obvious issues. read more

This "resort" is horrendous. The staff was rude from the minute we checked in. They say that they offer a healthcare worker discount, but they dont let you use it unless you fill out forms ahead of time and if you dont know to do that, because it isnt advertised, they dont honor it. They also say that there is a grill, but it is only open 7-4 thursday to sunday, so for the rest of the week there is no restaurant. The pool, hot tub, and lazy river was shut down for the entire week we were there except one day, and the staff was not helpful at all. We checked out early due to a tropical storm that the news said may turn into a hurricane, and the front desk staff were extremely dismissive and ill-mannered. We asked if there would be any refunds for the resort fee or nights we were unable to stay and they said no. Even though the entire "resort" was shut down, they offered zero assistance. I asked if we would get a credit for the next time we stayed or any compensation and they basically told us that its our choice to leave (even though a hurricane is coming) and that we have to eat the cost. The old man at the desk was rude, along with the younger girl with tattoos and glasses. I do not recommend staying here at all, you might as well take your money elsewhere because it doesnt get you much here at all. read more

We fell in love with this place the first time we came years ago. Each condo is neatly appointed and comfortable for the perfect beach getaway. You're so close to the beach that it's amazing! We often choose oceanfront rooms and enjoy time spent relaxing to the sounds of the ocean on the balcony. Staff members are wonderful, friendly and helpful. read more

I loved my stay here. Three bedroom condo with a bathroom in two of the bedrooms. Love. Large spacious kitchen and living room area which opened to the balcony. The beach is across the street. I didn't take advantage of the tiki bar but witnessed people having a great time. North Myrtle Beach definitely seems to have a quieter more reserved clientele and I appreciate that. The bathrooms were spacious and the water pressure amazing. My bed was very comfortable I can definitely see why people would buy units here. read more

Excellent 3-bedroom/3 full baths in the condo!! Rented from a friend, so we expected nothing less. Loved the location at North Myrtle Beach. The location is definitely not congested like Myrtle. We all loved it and had a blast. Pool was nice. Lots of activities for the kids every day in the pool area. Decent food at the pool bar (and cold drinks). The condo was immaculate. Across the street from the beach and a Tiki bar. I have no complaints at all with this property and would definitely stay again. read more

The stay was comparable to a Holiday Inn with the added amenities of a kitchen, an extra two bedrooms (with a shower each) and free movie rentals. They have a kiosk like a free Red-box available to guests with the limitation of one rental use at a time. The location is ok, with respect to beach access, after crossing the street but poor in general since it's far removed from the usual tourist haunts. While the unit was wiped down it but still felt somewhat dingy with residual stains in the carpet and furniture. Like any timeshare type arrangement, be prepared to bring cleaning supplies and extra towels - you'll probably need them. I concur with another Yelper that the staff does appear to be less than motivated with helping guests but if you're self reliant and require little assistance from the outside world, you'll be fine. DH actually liked the wifi. When I connected, I did find several options available so maybe it's a luck of the draw. All in all, if I did't see any exceptional deals elsewhere, I would not be averse to staying here again. read more

Tilghman Beach and Golf Resort came via recommendation of a casual acquaintance, and I figured what the hell, I know squat about this area. The reservation process was relatively painless, and the cost reasonable, so why not give it a shot, eh? This particular resort suffers not so much from any particular deficiency, but a lack in attention to detail. The rooms themselves are subject to the vagaries of the investors. From what I can tell, it's a timeshare-type agreement, which meant my room was decorated in Pier-One French Country Excrement. Not my style, and not all that functional, but also not a killer. On the day we checked in, I found that while the room was clean and reasonably well appointed, the batteries in the TV remote were dead and a bulb in the bathroom was dead- again, not the end of the world but it did suggest a willingness to suffice on the bare minimum. On returning to our room that night, a janitor kept an elevator pinned on the parking floor while five....eight....ten....twelve people piled up waiting for a ride upstairs. Perhaps had I been out getting hammered at a bar all night this would be understandable, but it was 8:30pm on a Saturday, and his dogged determination to mop the floor meant that we all waited without the ability to get another of the four cars to stop. On Saturday, I realized that with the rigors that come with a family vacation, my round of afternoon golf was out the window. Not the end of the world though, since I could slip off early on Sunday morning to smack a few practice balls on the driving range. And what a beautiful range it was to look at. Which is too bad, since that was all I was able to do, as the range is "members only". It isn't so much "Tilghman Beach and Golf " as "Tilghman Beach and Golf Under the Right Circumstances". The crowning jewel was my request, reasonable I thought, for an extended checkout. Their 11am time falls right in the midst of my kid's nap, and I figured it wouldn't be a huge deal to extend it a bit. Instead, I was met with "We NEVER extend checkout". Really? In this economy, you NEVER accommodate your paying customers? You have SOOOO many check-ins on a Sunday that you have to make sure I'm gone by 11am? Because the flashing neon "Vacancy" sign out front says you're a liar. I also thought the 11:15am "Get the fuck out" call was bit over the top. Seriously, the two hours I asked for is the difference between a happy baby and a shitty ride home. So, thanks. I LOOVED hitting the NC/SC border with a crying infant. There's too many options, folks. Find one that gives a damn about their customers, and stay there. PS- and since they've irked me into being nitpicky- most of the civilized world accepts American Express. read more

Had a great time. The place was huge and right across the street from the beach. Our kitchen was fully stocked with every gadget imaginable and the king bed was soft and luxurious that I passed out every night as soon as my head hit the pillow. It's close to several grocery stores if you feel like cooking, otherwise I recommend heading to The Shack just around the corner for the best fish I had while I was down there. I do have to agree that the WiFi is a bit spotty and needs to be fixed, but that's not why you go on vacation anyway. Truly a great place to stay, especially for larger groups/families. There were 4 beds and 3 showers in our place. There was only two of us. I'll have to bring more people next time. read more

A lot of reviews I read here are on the negative side. I however have experienced the exact opposite. The resort is in great shape. The room we are in (6004) is a beautiful room. 3 bed 3 bath. Furnishings are updated and comfortable. The staff has been great and have made it a point to personally address my daughter every time we have come in after a day of the typical tourist outings. One person in particular has been great. Brandy at the desk on the afternoon shift has been fantastic. The wifi has been great for me opposed to many other reviews. There is ocean/beach access right across the street. The property is a short drive from most of the Myrtle Beach attractions but that helps to keep the evenings quiet and peaceful. It's about 15 minutes down the road. My only major complaint is there is some construction in the area making it a pain to get to some local areas but that is no fault of the resort itself. Minor complaint would be the tv provider isn't great but if you're here for vacation there's no reason to be sitting in front of the tv. I would definitely stay here on my next trip. read more

We had a great time here when we came down for a long weekend. We were a little skeptical after a few reviews we read concerning the customer service but were pleasantly surprised to find that the staff was wonderful and very accommodating (Some necessary turnover, perhaps?). We ran into different staff members on several occasions throughout our stay and they addressed us by name each time, which gets points in my book. A few things to note: -Units seem to be individually owned. We stayed on the 6th floor and had a great unit. (6004 I believe?) However, we got the feeling that all the units were fairly similar. -This isn't a hotel, so be prepared to bring your own laundry detergent, dish soap, etc. -There is a poolside grill and bar which is a great option for lunch or mid-afternoon drinks -They run a lot of specials - we were able to take advantage of a "Stay 3 night and get the 4th free" -There is beach access directly in front of the building. They were in the process of paving the walkway and putting in bathrooms while we were there so hopefully they are completed or will be soon. Overall, a great place to get away for a few days. I would recommend it to families with children or to couples. Fairly quiet and a good amount of restaurants and things to do around the area. read more

This place is nothing to write home about. From the street, it's beautiful. Each unit is individually owned. The unit that we rented had three bedrooms. Each room had it's own bathroom and there was a half-bathroom. The unit had granite counter-tops and the master bedroom had a balcony overlooking the golf course and lake. The carpets could have used some cleaning and the walls were pretty dirty. The worst part was the fabric softener. NOT EVERYONE USES FABRIC SOFTENER IN THEIR CLOTHES. My family got the worst case of hives EVER! And guess what? Obtaining sheets without fabric softener is not an option. There are no refunds here, so the only option is to visit the local Walmart and purchase sheets! If you're looking for top-notch service, go some place else. The kid/young man manning the front desk was nice, but he was still very young and inexperienced. Had I been traveling with a bunch of girlfriends I would have given it three stars, but I was traveling with my family. We had hoped to utilize the kitchen and maybe lay around in the living room, but the place was just not that clean and inviting. If you're thinking about making reservations withi your American Express, pick another place to stay. read more

Some lowlights: - room smelled like urine, old urine (I assume the mattresses have seen better days) - three lamps were missing light bulbs - don't ask for additional towels as they do not have housekeeping during your stay - no hair dryers in the room but the front desk will lend you a broken one - no restaurant on site - staff is not your typical hotel staff, not very experienced, not knowledgable - not very clean, always a dirty feeling throughout the building - definitely meant for college kids' spring break visits - no late check outs unless you want to pay $70, mind you the vacancy sign was well lit Highlight (and there is only one): Pool area read more

My family comes here every year and we love it. Thank goodness it is not like other "hotels" because it isn't a hotel. It is a home away from home. The condo is decorated nicely and we are use to traveling and understand what to expect in a private style resort type establishment. The rooms are spacious and the view fantastic. I love sitting on the balcony after a day at the beach then pool. The beach is across the street, an easy stroll, and also allows for a great night view of the flickering lights and amusement area of Myrtle Beach instead of a dark ocean. Every attraction and eatery is within a few minutes drive or walk for the more quaint places to eat or buy groceries. We even rent golf carts to enjoy. We will be back again with friends for this experience. read more

The staff are always very friendly and very helpful. The rooms are stocked and full. I suggest an ocean view on at least the 8th floor. The resort offers an indoor and outdoor pool as well as an indoor and outdoor hot tub. They also have a lazy river pool. The on season offers a restaurant and a dj. I don't have the words to express the disappointment in this resort . The room was very dirty and in need of a make over. Molded torn shower curtains, frayed curtains and bed linens so stained I went to Walmart to buy my own linens and pillows. The kid activities are non existent after 8/11 and the pool side bar only open on weekends. So if you are looking to vacation later part of august don't do it here- they consider summer over. read more

We always throughly enjoy our stay at the Tilghman. One of the biggest selling points for us that keeps us returning is the Kids Club. For the past 5 or so years our now 10 year old daughter spends her days at the Kids Club, participating in many activities and creating bonds with Kids Club leaders. The place is okay. Nothing really special. Kind of run down. Terrible wifi. What really ticked us off is one particular night manager's response to the chaos that resulted during a 1.5 hr. power outage (half the city). Not the resort's fault but handled terribly. It was AFTER 10 pm and MANY guests on all floors decided to go out into the atrium with their kids and have a free-for-all while others, including our two young grand kids, tried to sleep. These people were drinking, their kids were running down the halls screaming, and they were having a merry time. Then we discovered that the toilet bowls were getting hot to the point where the water was steaming! Even the cold water on all the faucets in our condo were very very hot! This is not normal! Two of us walked down 9 flights of stairs to the front desk to alert them of these events and the night manager was ridiculously rude and sarcastic and asked us what did we expect him to do about rowdy guests. He actually asked us if we thought he should tell everyone to get back into their rooms? No, but he could have stood in the 5th floor atrium and asked everyone to respect the other guests and keep the noise level down! It's an open atrium and his voice would have carried without any problem! His response about the hot water? "I guess I should call someone about it." YOU THINK? DUH! Anyway, we left to walk up the stairs when we noticed about 12 people or so waiting for the single operating elevator. As soon as they got on and the doors shut, everything went black. They were stuck. Management never told them that you don't take an elevator during an outage! We walked up 9 flights of stairs in pitch black with the help of a tiny little flashlight we take to hotels. Although the outage wasn't the fault of the resort, the reaction to it and their guests was. There was absolutely no concern from them for the guests. Any decent manager would have handled it differently. We are truly unimpressed with this place and will NEVER stay there again. read more

For our daughter's August wedding, family and friends booked about eight suites. It was so good, many of us are going to rent some more in the summer of 2015. We had ocean view accommodations from the 9th floor. We were a short several minute walk to the beach. The suites were awesome, and all the staff was pleasant. The bed was perfectly comfy. We had a great casual meal around the corner at Duffy Street Tavern and had incredible shopping at Boulineaus. There's also a great pizza place right along the same main street of Cherry Grove. We had a wonderful time with no glitches. If you don't mind making your own bed, this is the place to go. read more

Stayed at this place over memorial day weekend. It's across the street from the beach, but access is quite easy. Two pools, Two hot tubs, a lazy river and water sprinkler/fountain area for kids to play in. No water slides. Each unit is privately/cooperately owned so each room could feel totally different. Maid service is not available. Think about bringing extra towels, toilet paper, soap stuff, etc. They do give little bracelets to identify you as a hotel guest when your at the pool but they don't make you wear it. They did occasionally walk by and check for it. Don't let that scare you from sneaking a couple extra people into your room. Memorial day weekend is has been Black Biker Week since 1980. Had we known that we would not have come. The bikers reving their engines until 3am was quite annoying as our room had a balcony facing the road/ocean. We would stay here again. read more

This post is more of a Public Service Announcement of sorts. My friends and family all know how much I love the beach, and my family goes at least once a year to North Myrtle Beach. We have gone there for years and have stayed all up and down the Grand Strand at some really great places.In the Spring I won a contest with Tilghman Beach and Golf Resort for 4 days/3 nights in a 3 bed/3 bath oceanfront condo. My family and I went August 15,2014. The rooms were ok,except for the large red stain in the Living Room covered by a chair. But the view was great, HOWEVER, They have a list of "rules"[ no smoking(even electronic cigarettes) anywhere on the resort property to include the balcony-ok. Quiet time after 10pm-ok, Your beach gear is not to be brought to your room, but left in a designated garage area and when you check in they tell you that violation of them will result in a $250.00 charge. Well, it took 2 days with multiple phone calls to the front desk and housekeeping to a an ironing board, the bathroom doors won't open, every night kids ran up and down the hall beating on the walls after midnight, adults were screaming at each other across the atrium/multiple floors, every time you got in an elevator every single button was pushed(kids) and I HAD SOME BRAND NEW BEACH GEAR STOLEN WITHIN 15 MINUTES OF PUTTING IT WHERE WE WERE TOLD....RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE FRONT WALL OF WINDOWS FOR THE FRONT DESK. In all of there years we have been going to the Grand Strand we have never had one thing touched. Even if we left the beach for lunch. But within 15 minutes, right in front of staff( they also have a bank of camera monitors behind the front desk)-Front Desk staff response? "Aww, that's too bad. Why did you leave it there?" WHAT?! Because that is where we were told we had to!!!!!!! It was even posted in the condo!!!! *That was $160.00 lesson learned My advise: North Myrtle Beach is awesome! There are some WONDERFUL places to stay (that are much more reasonably priced). I wouldn't stay @ Tilghman Beach and Golf Resort...even if it was "free", because given the theft, it wasn't even for us! read more

This is our second time staying here. The first time it was okay- nothing great but we decided to come back again this year. This trip our air broke in the unit we rented- after calling and visiting the front desk they told us they were busy and would come by if they got a chance. No sight if them yet. Couple the a/c incident with the fact that tilghman staff ordered us out of the pool so some immature adults could have a belly flop contest and you get an idea of how accommodating the front desk staff is. This hotel is over run with kids and parents who seem to enjoy visiting the pool bar. The bracelets are given at check in but were never checked the entire week we stayed. We watched folks from surrounding hotels walk over to play in our pool. A staffer of the hotel stayed by the pool but seemed rather uninterested in being a buzz kill. If you don't mind staying a street away at a hotel that seems to have uncaring staff and a free for all attitude then this is your place. If you ask me- there are far better hotels for the price... read more

Nice resort, beautiful rooms. However, don't rely on Wi-Fi while in resort. Worst Wi-Fi service I ever had. Keeps dropping all the time. When it is connected, it's slower than dial up. Out of 5 stars, I give it 0. Unfortunately Wi-Fi isn't the only bad service at the resort. Calling the front desk for help, it's a hit and miss. First I got lucky. First young lady I talked to, was very pleasant and helpful. She called their help desk and transferred them to my room. Tech guy said that the switch must hung up, and he told me to wait 10 min and to try again. Problem got resolved, but not for long because I had to call again several times during the day. Unfortunately, the next time I called, shift change must have happened, and than all I got was laziness and border line rudeness. All they wanted to do is to give me the number for the help desk so that I can to call them and she didn't have to be bothered. Service 1 star, and I am being truly generous. I got so dead up with the front desk that I didn't even call them any more. I don't believe I'll repeat my stay. I hope someone who cares from the resort reads this, otherwise it's pointless. . read more
