This place is a Belleville icon. Unfortunately it's owned by a tight a$$ who REFUSES to hire adequate kitchen and wait staff!! The food is good & they have excellent pizzas... ...if you've got an hour or more to kill!! There's ONE cook. So if there's more than 2 orders in...YOU ARE WAITING awhile!! And if it's busy, forget about it! You're looking at more like 90 minutes to 2 hours! Even when your foods "Up" it will still be 5-15 minutes before you get it, because the owner will only staff 2 waitresses(Max)!! Good bar & bartenders. Tim & Joe's is a hidden gem in west Belleville. The atmosphere is nothing fancy, but the food and service are outstanding. Delicious fried chicken on Wednesday, 25 cent wings on Thursday, excellent cod and catfish on Friday, and their onion rings are amazing anytime. The waitresses and bartenders are sweet and friendly, and if you're there late, the cooks may just come out of the kitchen and give you a big ol' hug. I read a review knocking the "regulars", who are all very nice people. Don't forget it's the regulars that keep places like this in business and keep it welcoming and affordable for all us non-regulars. Went there last night for fish Friday and the server was showing our table a letter from someone she said that there is a threat of a shooting. It didn't look like a threat to us. It was more like a question about could you except what would happen in a situation where you made a decision. She was adamant that there will be violence in Tim&Joe. Food was good, but I'm not sure about the atmosphere. We were in there Friday night, and overheard the server tell a few of the tables around us, about a possible shooting in the restaurant soon. She said that everyone is worried and scared to come in to eat. Stay away for your own safety. My friend and I stopped for a late lunch on a Monday. We each ordered a different burger and fries with fried pickles to share. Lexie was the person on duty. She never stopped. She served the meals, the drinks, ran the bar, talked to every customer as they entered, and constantly checked on her customers. Her attitude was upbeat and jovial. Let's call this place basic. And there is a crowd that is drawn to basic, its a older crowd and they did seem to have their regulars. So regular they told us we were in the spot and they were surprised the waitress didn't save it for them. It looks like it has the potential to have a nice atmosphere but they've found their niche and good for them. Also, like every other spot in Belleville this place has found the Holy Grail of video poker machines too. I was off put immediately before even trying the food when the salt and pepper shakers were stuck to the table and had a coating of something sticky on them. However, I still gave it a shot. The food was very mediocre. My side salad was just chucks of iceberg lettuce, a pile of cheese and once slice of mushy tomato. The dressing that comes in a Styrofoam cup, the plates for apps also Styrofoam. My grilled chicken sandwich was just that. It was edible, a little dry, but nothing I'd go back for and there was a big scoop of mayo just plopped into another Styrofoam cup. Basic as can be. Its not my vibe so I probably won't go back. A Chrsitmas eve tradition with good pub food. Had a straightforward cheese burger and fries with a couple beverages and had no complaints. Staff was not cuper friendly but they were prompt and attentive. So try it out if you are nearby and want some simple pub food. read more

Tim and Joe's was a fantastic, comfortable spot for lunch. I visited on a Wednesday afternoon last month and took advantage of the Wed. special for Anheuser longnecks. I went with the classic Reuben sandwich, and my oh my was this a tasty one. Tim and Joe's gives you the horseradish on the side, and believe me, it only takes a little to really add some zip to your sandwich. The horseradish was just excellent. Our server was very down-to-earth and outgoing. I really look forward to stopping in again during my next trip to the Midwest. read more
