I usually don't crave breakfast sandwiches at all so I wasn't itching to see what made it award-winning but when my sister let me take half her sandwich... man... Tim should add "and Sandwiches" to the title of his business I'm dead serious that was the best sandwich I've had in a long time, lord have mercy. I am sitting out front, enjoying a hot chocolate and the cool ocean breeze in absolute heaven right now. Normally I'd be having one of Tim's great lattes, but it's a low caffeine morning and Tim said he makes a killer hot chocolate, and boy was he right!! What I appreciate the most about this place is that it feels like a coffee shop, and not like a Starbucks where lines of people come in and go. 12/15/25 Decided to try this cute, hidden coffee shop in SJC serving up great cups of Java. Meet Tim, owner extraordinaire, who is a nice guy, personable who indeed makes great coffee. There's a small bench up front of the shop with an umbrella where you may enjoy a quiet time drinking your beverage. Additionally, there are cozy tables, chairs, couch to also offer comfortable seating to the ambiance. It's a nice space to study, catch up or hangout. Tim was engaging, talking with me as he was concocting the hot oat milk latte. It was a peaceful Monday as there was no one else in the shop. Gosh where do I start...first off, this is definitely not the cutesy coffee shop you would want to go to get some coffee and study. Its just not the vibe. It definitely looks like old furniture brought in from their home. Everything is pretty run down. Their menu was nothing fancy so we just got the regular matcha latte. And boy was I disappointed in this...i dont expect high quality matcha but at least presentable. The matcha was not smooth but flaky and it was really bland. Tim offered to add sweetener and it made it worst. It had a really weird taste to it afterwards. When we were leaving, he offered to remake it but it just wasnt it. It doesnt even taste like matcha! The color should've been a red flag already. We also got the breakfast sandwich and boy were we flabbergasted. The menu said it had bacon, hash brown, veggies, eggs, and cheese. But when we got it, he had added chicken to it and my husbands worst nightmare...brussel sprouts. While eating, i bit into a large piece of bone. And the sandwich came on paper plates!!! Sighhh the whole experience just felt like I was at my uncles house. If I wanted something homemade, i wouldve just stayed home and made it myself. Why pay to have below mediocre food and matcha!?! We stopped in around 9 AM and was immediately greeted by Tim, great first impression. The inside of the shop is such a vibe. Tons of really cool memorabilia that makes the space feel warm and welcoming. I ordered the Vietnamese coffee and the award-winning breakfast sandwich with bacon, while my husband went with the spam version. We swapped halves so we could try both. Honestly, this sandwich exceeded all expectations. So full of flavor, not greasy at all, and just straight-up delicious. Both the bacon and spam versions were winners, and I'd recommend either without hesitation. The Vietnamese coffee was a nice touch too. A little less sweet than I usually get it, but still really enjoyable. Tim was genuinely kind throughout our whole visit and made the experience even better. Tim really is making great coffee! On the way to Los Angeles from San Diego today, I wanted to take a break from the traffic, use a clean restroom and get a cup of coffee for the road. I clicked "add stop" on my Google maps and it took me to this wonderful place! Tim fixed me the best cup of coffee I have had in forever - a delicious half calf Vietnamese coffee. Traditionally Vietnamese coffee is served with condensed milk. Tim mentioned that there is also some additional milk included in the iced drink and offered me my choice of milks with no up charge. I opted for oat milk, which blended perfectly with the condensed milk at the bottom. The coffee had such a terrific smooth taste. Can't wait to stop by here again! Tim is extremely friendly and very generous, offering add-ins to the iced mocha. Although I took my drink to go, the atmosphere was very welcoming. I loved the Bob Ross memorabilia. I am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to coffee--more specifically, iced mochas--and, on top of all of that, I recently switched to oat milk in an attempt to lower my cholesterol. I'm glad that they offered sugar-free syrup options. My mom got the iced dirty chai latte with oat milk. she enjoyed it. Tim said it was their most popular drink and he recommended it with oat milk. My mom added banana syrup to it. Our experience was exceptional because of the kindness and care of the owner Tim. He served us after closing he showed interest in our lives. he was thorough in making sure we had the best possible experience. they had a restroom for customer use. There was plenty of parking. Well, the name says it all. Tim truly does make great coffee. We came here for breakfast because the place we wanted to go to wasn't opened yet. So, I had no expectations when I walked in. Tim greeted us and we ordered several types of coffee and breakfast items. Tim said the spam rice dish would take a little time since it was being freshly prepared. When he brought out my coffee, I was nearly "shocked " on how good it was. I was expecting just some regular coffee shop. That was a very pleasant surprise. I also had the chocolate croissant and that was good too, When the spam rice dish came out, you can tell everything was very fresh. The other person in my party commented on how tasty it was and said it tasted just as great as it looked. We had a very pleasant conversation with Tim when he wasn't busy with other customers. My gf and I came across this place as we were driving up to LA from SD and we thought this was a great stop! The love and care Tim puts into his business is very obvious and admirable. We really appreciated the personalized interior and service that Tim provides. Felt very homey. My gf ordered an iced dirty chai and she thought it was 10/10. I ordered the cold brew and it was just what i needed for the drive up. We also split the breakfast sandwich. It surprisingly had chicken, but we still enjoyed it nonetheless. The bacon was perfectly crispy for my taste! Tim is very nice. I've tried to like this place. That being said, this place is dirty. There are cleaning supplies right next to coffee prep area. I'm pretty sure the health department would have more than one issue with this place. Iced tea is ok. Twice I've ordered a mocha and it's made with some powder that never fully dissolves so the result is a chunky drink. I finally got to try this place out during my short break before going to another client. The atmosphere felt so homey and just all around good vibes. Tim was very friendly and helped me when I was unsure about what milk alternative to get & what type of protein for my breakfast sandwich. I decided to get an iced dirty chai. Just wow! I am amazed and really enjoyed this drink. Tim asked me how sweet I wanted it and I opted for my drink to be medium sweet which was perfect! I also enjoyed the chocolate bits it had in the bottom which paired nicely with the drink. As for the breakfast sandwich, now this is what a breakfast sandwich should be. Tim found out it was my first time at his shop and asked me to try the sandwich at the store before heading out. I can tell you, this is truly the best breakfast sandwich I've had! My husband and I were just taking a break from every day work and life so we decided to meander our way south of L.A.. We were hungry for breakfast and wanted a break from driving with something different from our usual stop. We remembered San Juan Capistrano from years ago when we visited the Mission with children so we chose to stop in there for another visit. We found this little coffee gem and having a son named Tim we stopped in. The first thing we saw was a tv with an amazing view featuring another country that drew us in. It turned out to be a video by The Traveler featured on YouTube. There was no sound just beautiful scenery. The owner, Tim, served us and was very welcoming and cheerful! We ordered an omelette, meat or vegetable. We ordered meat but we're pretty sure we got vegetables and we were very happy because it was very different from the usual vegetable omelettes we've had in the past! It had onion, broccoli, carrots, and lentils for sure, seasoned to perfection (with what, we don't know) and topped with what looked like half an avocado! It also had a green sauce on top in the middle. The sauce was way too spicy for me but my husband liked it and the portion was so big we took some home for our son, who loved it. Being a great lover of fried rice, we also ordered that. You have a choice of bacon, spam, chicken, or tofu, or no meat. It too was spiced differently and I honestly could have eaten all of it myself if my stomach was bigger. We took more than half home with us and enjoyed it just as much as that day. Instead of coffee we ordered London Fog lattes with oat milk. They were fabulous! The place itself while small has a lot to look at with a choice of a small table, a couch or cushy chairs around a big table. I have included photos to show other things of interest. Being in here makes you feel like you're chilling in your room with a few friends over with MTV on in the background and not a care in the world. First the owner gave us unnecessary grief about our extremely well behaved service dog, who goes with us everywhere and is never noticeable He threatened us with complaints to any attending health department officials although we assured him she would never be a problem and had proper paperwork if needed We ordered coffees when we arrived My vanilla latte was heavily sweet but flavorful even though I was given no choice of milk or sweetness level My husbands decaf was bland and no sugar or sweetener was available The owner had the nerve to berate him for asking for any I Ordered a veggie omelette while hubby opted for a breakfast egg, cheese and bacon sandwich We had to wait for over 35 minutes for our food even though only one other customer was waiting for food ((It seemed the man at the counter and cashier was also barista and cook) My omelette looked like he had thrown eggs and veggies haphazardly on my plate, smeared with guacamole in an unappealing pile I actually tasted it and the guacamole was so cold it chilled my teeth My husbands sandwich was not only spicy but was served on rye bread over toasted to the point of being almost burnt on one side , stone hard and not toasted at all on the other side Since the meals were in edible, we quietly got up to leave and was rudely questioned by our cook and barista When we told him our food arrived almost 40 minutes after ordering and were not edible ( while of course our coffees were now ice cold) he became belligerent and rude and yelled at us about how amazing his food was and he couldn't understand why we felt otherwise He yelled at us saying we were awful difficult customers several times even though we spoke in a calm quiet tone telling him we were not difficult, just disappointed and unable to eat what was presented He continued berating us in a loud insulting voice saying "Don't ever come back here again which I assured him was not a problem because we never would return He said I'm not being mean at which point my husband informed him that he was! He begrudgingly agreed to refund our money as we attempted to leave Another couple , waiting to order food took one look at our meal and left with only coffee This is the longest review I have ever written but I wanted to make sure that no one would have to endure such a humiliating, uncomfortable, miserable and unprofessional treatment or experience here I begrudgingly only gave this review 1 star in order to have it posted but this place doesn't deserve any stars!! read more
