We randomly walked into this coffee shop, and the name sounded familiar. When we greeted the baristas and asked about the place, I was excited to learn it's a Filipino-owned coffee shop! It's wonderful to experience nostalgic flavors like calamansi and ube. Although they don't make the pastries in-house, they source them locally, so it's a great way to support small businesses. We tried the "Tito Palmer," and it was sooo good! It was a bit too sour for my partner, so I took a sip and asked if they could add a bit more tea. Really good coffee and super friendly staff!! The shop has a big open space for kiddos with lots of toys as well as a couple tables and a big communal table. Can get really busy with the mommy and me classes that are hosted on certain days. From my experience, the wait can get pretty long so keep that in mind. You can order online from the website to circumvent the line, but the drink I always get (Turon latte) wasn't on the list when I tried to order online so I wasn't able to do that. Will definitely come back, but on days where I have time to potentially wait 20+ mins. I've come before work and been served within 5 mins, but there's also been times where it took almost 30 mins, so wait time when ordering in person just depends on how busy they are. read more

First of all, let's talk about the elephant in the room..... my love for coffee. I have traveled across the lower 48 in a 2005 dodge Dakota, with nothing but the clothes on my back and a sleeping bag on a wood board. In those early mornings, perhaps along an unnamed body of water- a mile or two away from the interstate- I would yearn for a coffee that could shake the ennui off my bones and wipe clean the residue of the late-stage American landscape left deep in the crevices of my soul- similar to the crumbs left between the seats of my Dakota. Kape Roasters, has this coffee that I yearned for on the shores of those unnamed bodies of water just beyond reach of the howling interstate. My first sip, I thought of that 20 year old young man who had nothing but a lukewarm, glass bottle of Starbucks coffee I bought from a gas-station the night prior. Kape Roasters has this coffee... I can feel the espresso light up my tastebuds like a million lighters in a stadium. The caffeine flows through my brain and makes me feel like Bradley Cooper in that one movie where he unlocks 100% of his brain capacity. I also got the ham and cheese croissant and my beautiful girlfriend got a chocolate chip muffin. Both were absolutely delicious, we were like ravenous dinosaurs, bees to honey, a kid in a candy shop... if you will. While I do like their service in terms of walking though the options and their location, I didn't actually like the coffee that much hence 3.5/5. I tried their cold foam flight. To be fair, the foam was dairy alternative and i asked them for everything to be light on sugar. The flight comes with 4 diff base cold brews, 4 flavors of cold foam. The sesame one has no sugar so they recommend adding vanilla or some syrup. They don't have stevia or SGfree on hand. I saw a lot of people get their banana matcha which they described as pseudo boba because of the actual fruit in the drink. But to be fair, it's called kape. Kape Roaster is located in a small shopping center near a thrift store and an Irish pub! The parking lot has plenty of space and room for strollers. I found this hidden coffee spot in Laguna Niguel on a Sunday afternoon and I am glad I did. It is a very spacious coffee spot in a business center with plenty of parking. There is seating available and I saw a few people working on their laptops. My sister and I got the Choc Nut Latte. It was sweet and tasty. We also got a chocolate filled croissant. My wife is a Filipina and we had high hopes when going to this cafe because it is supposed to have Filipino drinks and food. It's a beautiful, spacious cafe. Only it's a little too spacious, with lots of empty space in the cafe. So instead of a cozy cafe, it's a really big one with tables far from each other. The menu board for drinks doesn't have any prices on it so I had to ask the price for the drinks that we were interested in, which is awkward and the woman behind the counter seemed a little impatient with my asking her the prices. Later on, I asked one of the staff why there were no prices next to the drinks and she said that was the way the owner wanted it. I ordered a 12 oz. Americano coffee, my wife a Turon Latte and we shared an Almusal Sammy, a Filipino breakfast sandwich with egg, sweet sausage, and sharp cheddar. While my coffee was good, my wife said her Turon Latte didn't taste like turon at all, more like a watered-down mocha. The Almusal Sammy was a serious disappointment. It was a small, flavorless egg McMuffin-type sandwich (only an egg McMuffin is a lot better) that had only was partially microwaved. It was served lukewarm in a small box, even though we were dining in. My wife and I visited the Philippines last year and this sandwich definitely wouldn't have passed muster there. read more

The Almusal Sammy, a Filipino breakfast sandwich with egg, sweet sausage (or longanisa in Filipino term), sharp (?) cheddar was tasty but was a teeny tiny bit and was like a version of a Macdo egg sausage sandwich. It's all prepared and heated in the microwave! A typical Filipino breakfast is hearty. I had a Turon Latte, another missed one, sadly. Turon is a typical banana or plantain rolled in a spring roll coated in brown sugar and caramelized. The latte's flavor was no closer to what it is supposed to be. It was very light. The coffee shop is very spacious, almost felt like an empty room. There's a kid's corner and a small merchandise section that occupy the space with few tables and chairs around. A wall adorns some photos of the Philippines. Overall, it's still a comfortable place to read the papers and enjoy a cuppa. read more

Saw this spot on Yelp after completing a hike in the area. We were intrigued by the seasonal menu and the pictures of the drinks with the delicious cream tops! We were surprised to learn that the seasonal drinks were such a hit that they decided to add it to the regular menu! Off their recommendation, I ordered the turon latte and it was super delicious!! I love a latte with banana and I loved the filipino twist. The coffee was super smooth and creamy and the foam on top made it even better. This cafe has a large space for all your working at cafe needs! They also had a space in the back for kiddos, and events for families and the community!! I had no idea there's a lovely cafe like this in my neighborhood if it wasn't for Yelp! The exterior looks unassuming but the interior of the cafe is very very spacious! I was so blown away by the huge space inside. I placed the order online ahead of time but my drink wasn't ready when arriving. That's ok as I wanted it decaf but the option wasn't available when I initially placed the order. Parking is free and plentiful right in front of the cafe. My coffee tasted like chocolate milk with coffee notes! Super velvety and creamy. Not too sweet, just how I enjoy it. They have other unique flavored goodies I am looking forward to trying out next. Stopped by and had a really nice experience overall. The staff was super friendly, and there's a big parking lot, which made it really easy to stop by. The space inside is huge with plenty of seating. Their menu has a lot of Filipino-inspired drinks that looked really yummy, and I honestly wanted to try several of them. I ended up ordering the Iced Matcha Latte ($7.49). It was very smooth and not bad at all, though I do wish the matcha flavor were a little stronger. I really wanted to like this spot but was very disappointed by this spot each time I went. The plaza has plentiful parking which is nice. The space of the cafe itself is very open but they don't utilize it the best so there's not a ton of tables inside however I haven't seen this place that packed. They have fast wifi as well which is good for getting work done. For drinks, I have tried both the choc nut latte as well as the Kape matcha latte. The choc nut is essentially a PB mocha but the peanut butter flavor was absent for me and the coffee itself tasted watered down. The Kape matcha is a matcha latte with condensed milk but I didn't really taste the sweetness from the condensed milk and the matcha was very poor in quality and tasted like grass water. The ube ensaymada was probably the only thing that was decent that I would recommend. read more

The matcha was hand-whisked with a decent color, but I wish it had been poured over the milk rather than stirred directly. This place has friendly baristas making your drink order - all the standards from cold nitro brews to ceremonial grade matcha - all prepared to your specific likings. I enjoyed a I seasonal iced matcha with guava foam - delicious!! Bring the kids and grandkids - there is a large, well stocked play area. There are coloring books with dozens of colored pencils, toy figures, Legos, blocks and books. The place is spacious yet has a cozy, quiet feel to it, even when filled with kids. After looking at pictures and following their IG page since they opened, I decided to give them a try! The store is very spacious. I think it needs more lights to be honest because it felt a bit dark especially toward the end of the store where kids can play. I ended up getting a regular latte which I think was delicious. What I loved about visiting here was that the owner was walking around and thanking guests for visiting. I loved that the owner knows that by just having a simple conversation with guests you create the relationship that is not possible to create with those disgusting Chain coffee places that serve Burnt, low quality coffees. As a pharmacist customer service is always number one for me. The 2 young kids that were working the registers were so sweet and kind. One in particular named Rocco was so sweet and kind. Great job to the owner for hiring these kind kids. The girl that worked as the barista needs to cheer up a bit though. I am not saying being FAKE but if you are working, might as well have fun while doing it. I would love to work at a coffee shop. Like that is my dream job. Not because I need the money, just because I think it is such a fun job. Making coffee and talking to people, how awesome is that! I finally visited this place after seeing it on social media. It's super cool that they host different events here. They have a cielo player that was playing Christmas and Disney music when we went. The space was big and there's even an area for children at the back. Very cool place for parents to grab coffee and pastry even with the kids. I got one of their holiday drinks, the white chocolate mocha with panda cold foam and it was delicious. Not to sweet! My sister got the kape matcha and it was definitely not sweet, so you need to add sweetener yourself. My other sister got the Turon latte and it had a banana after taste which was nice. Such a cute coffee shop! The inside is spacious with plenty of seating and a cute kids area. The decor is beautiful. The staff was so helpful and sweet when navigating the menu and making recommendations. The sandwich had pan de sal bread with tosino patty and was delicious! I wish it had a vinegar sauce and was bigger but otherwise yummy flavors. The croissants were flaky when warmed up either at the store or air fryer at home. The guava started off at mostly the cream cheese filling so I was wanting more guava flavor, then the other half was all guava flavor. So the components were there, I just wish they were there at the same time. The ensamada were great! I wish they had the ube flavor in stock but we'll have to go back.
