Corned Beef & Cabbage Platter
Pam M.

Have been here dozens &!dozens of times throughout the years. Tim has most of his family in and out waiting, cooking, & tending bar when they are around, back home from school and work along with his usual wait staff. Food is fresh and delicious. Lots of beer on tap, from traditional Irish brews to a terrific selection of local and IPA's and the good old standards. Always have great affordable specials. Sandwich's are wonderful, great soups, and their famous chicken pot pie melts in your mouth. Then we have the High Holy Week of St. Patrick's Day, best corned beef & cabbage hands down in the area, in years & years have never been disappointed. Always serves traditional Irish fair, reubens, shepherds pie, strews, Irish clubs and more. Plenty of entertainment on the weekends but especially on St Paddy's day .... in this climate social distancing is in place, masks enforced, sanitizing stations located throughout. Advice all to check it out. Fun place to bring your kids for an inexpensive meal in a friendly family run place.

Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner

This is definitely a dive style bar, but let me say it's a fun place especially on St. Paddy's Day. It's a very unique setting because the bands play behind a long bar. There's another large car in the middle of the room. If it's a single person playing music then they will sing on a platform in the middle of the large bar..On both sides of the bar there are tables... I've been here several times to see bands and always had a good time... The food is a mixture of pub style food wings, chicken fingers, fries, burgers, ribs along with steak, sandwiches, and salads.. My friend and I split the corned beef and cabbage dinner along with the fish n chips dinner.. Both were very good... The portions are a nice size, they don't skimp... What I like about Tim Kerwins is they serve food pretty late. It was 11p and food was being ordered and served... This bar is family run... Many of the bartenders are related. They really work hand in hand with one another... During the week there is always happy hour and specials... If u like darts they have that too.. Outside there is an outdoor patio with tables and chairs. People eat out here and smoke... What was really nice to see was a very clean modern bathroom. I didn't expect this at all...everything was updated ... The people who come here are very friendly. They get a lot of regulars...especially a woman named Janet... The atmosphere changes from week to week depending on what bands are playing... Rock n Roll, Country, 80's, Motown you get the idea... This is definitely a place that's interesting..

Da bar.

They tend to cluster at the end of the bar waiting for someone to walk in to leer at. After you find a seat they continue to stare, as if trying to figure out if you're a college kid, new local or cop. The bar itself is small and set up in such a way that you are forced to sit with you're back to these "regulars". This only adds to the general discomfort of the place. Nothing much to do but get wasted, so, I did just that. The night started to get interesting around 11 when some females actually entered. To my relief the regulars then set there attention on them. More and more people arrived. They all appeared to be from Sarah Lawrence College. The guys looked like girls and the girls like guys. The regulars appeared oblivious to the fact that these females wanted nothing to do with them. Watching a guy with a thick Irish accent buy drinks for an obvious lesbian who couldn't understand a word he said made the visit worth my while. The place turned into an absolute freak show. Irish construction workers and trans-gender college kids dancing the night away. I left around 1 with the bizarro party in full swing. Other remarks: The bartender was an irish guy named Joe. He seemed okay at first but, was very nosey. He continued prying for personal info, and I just didn't trust him for some reason. Then again he may have been happy to see a new face, however, I would have preferred to be left alone.

Since the Spinning Wheel disgraced the Sarah Lawrence community and became the Palmer Lounge, The…read moreMalt House has been the students' bar of choice to get wasted in on Thursday nights. It is Irish owned and features an assortment of creepy Irish regulars that like to hit on unsuspecting Sarah Lawrence girls (my favorite pick up line is when some guy told my lesbian friend "But, I have a vagina"). This can get overwhelming on a night when there aren't a lot of students around. For a student, it can be a place to get congenially soused, talk, and play darts or pool with their friends on a packed Thursday night or they can feel like they are surrounded by random acquaintances they know in various ways that don't always mix, standing around and hardly able to make small talk because of the loud music. In other words, I find it extremely awkward unless I'm drunk and then ambiance no longer matters. Other remarks: Joe the bartender is well known and I am unsure whether he is a nice barroom psychologist or a manipulative bastard. The bar has begun to ID so there are mostly upperclassmen. The drink of choice is the Bailey's Irish Car Bomb.

Love this local hangout. Probably the best cheesesteaks in Chester County. The new owner is…read moreobviously very serious about his West Chester establishment which has kept up with the times over many years. Great place to catch up with like minded sport, travel and political friends. Ron the bartender during the day is the GOAT of bartending in Chester county maybe all of PA. I personally keep a notebook of his life & health wisdoms. Secret thing to know is that they will roll up that "best of" cheesesteak into a wrap and put a fried egg and jalapeños in it if you're willing to give up a little of that incredible steak because you just can't get that much meat into a wrap! . Their fries are a must. I live in Arizona a lot of the year but always look forward to getting back to The Stone Tavern in the spring!

After reading a plentiful amount of reviews espousing the qualities of The Stone Tavern, and…read moreviewing some amazing looking photos of the food, a work colleague and I were excited to visit for lunch and try it out. We were promptly seated in a mostly full dining area just to the right of the entrance around 12:30 pm on a Thursday. The dining room was spacious with plenty of room between tables though the booths are a tad tight. A large bar area with lots of TVs looked appealing as well. Drinks were quickly ordered and served as we perused the menu. While we had both looked at the menu prior to coming, and had an idea of what we wanted, there were so many appealing options that we second guessed a little as we made the tough decisions to not order way more than we could consume. Finally we decided on The Hot Roast Beef Sandwich with fries, the Ribeye Cheesesteak with fries, and a bowl of the Tomato, Bacon Mac & Cheese with the agreement to split the sandwiches and mac & cheese so we could both try additional items. Three very full and visually appealing plates of food arrived quickly (about 10-12 minutes after ordering) and we were ready to dig in. First up was the Ribeye Cheesesteak with caramelized stout onions, truffled local mushrooms, and sharp provolone on a Liscio's roll. Immediately viewable was the limited amount of cheese that was only lining the roll and not mixed into the meat in any way. Biting into the sandwich revealed a dry meat with a distinctly non-cheesesteak flavor. It wasn't bad, but it just tasted like a bland steak and cheese sandwich. The sharp provolone didn't make it to the party and had no noticeable presence. After eating half of my portion I added some ketchup which helped some with the dryness. This was a 25 out of 5 and I wouldn't bother ordering it again. I also started to consume the shoestring french fries while I ate the cheesesteak, and they were delicious. Crisp with just the right amount of salt. 4.5 out of 5. Next up was the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich with thinly shaved Black Angus beef that is roasted daily, served with Au Jus, and horseradish sauce on a long roll. Topped with cheese and loaded with meat, this is what I was most looking forward to and couldn't wait to take a bite. I wish I hadn't! By itself, this was probably the blandest sandwich I have ever had in my life, while dipping into the Au Jus definitely improved the flavor, it still wasn't enough. I tried adding the horseradish sauce, but that was a sad approximation of real horseradish. Worst of all was the meat itself, where I had three different bites that were fatty/gristly and couldn't be chewed. Can't say I've ever had that from a roast beef sandwich before. 1.5 out of 5. Lastly, we had the Tomato, Bacon Mac & Cheese consisting of cavatappi pasta, applewood smoked bacon, and some diced tomato. This was sadly also a disappointment. The quality of the cheese left something to be desired and the sauce was very runny in consistency even after letting it sit for 10 mins while everything else was eaten. Another bland dish that neither of us even bothered to finish or box up to take home. Ketchup couldn't save this. 2 out of 5. Other than the fries, the only other bright spot was the service. Our waitress Isabella was polite, attentive, and performed her job well. Refilling drinks and making sure we were taken care of. 5 out of 5 for service. Affordability... for the three dishes and two Diet Cokes the total came to $57.27 with tax plus a $12 tip. The portion sizes were strong, but the flavor eliminated any value proposition. Overall, the food looked far better than it tasted and I was really disappointed in the meal. I had hoped I'd found a good local pub to take family and friends, but The Stone Tavern doesn't cut it. 2 out of 5 rating with no good reason to return.
