From start to finish, EXCELLENT SERVICE!!! The inventory is ridiculous: A bike for every rider. We were like kids in a candy store. An expensive candy store. Lol. But well priced. The old saying "Less is more" is completely true. Les, our salesman is not just more, but EXTRA! He wasn't pushy, went at our pace and didn't try to talk us in to anything we didn't want. Bob handled the finances like a champ. Scott "poured" it on. Joe sold us some great leathers, helmet etc. The entire staff was awesome. We drove 3.5 hours to get there and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. We're in our way home, with "Black Betty" safely on the trailer. Thank you so much for the epic experience!!!

As difficult as I was with making a decision, never once did Scott pressure me or try to force me to buy something.

I am just starting out with riding and don't have much experience with it. The culture, needs, and…read morerequirements to do it safely and successfully can be a little daunting. And expensive. Leather riding gear especially, you can need a lot to stay warm and protected and that adds up. Leather is particularly a pain, since generally it is altered to fit and isn't easily returnable...so getting the wrong thing will make your life miserable and expensive. I shopped around a little in Salem to get an idea of what I was going to be spending. My mind was swimming with the extravagance of cost. And though I got some pretty detailed help at the Harley-Davidson shop, the prices were pretty big. Other stores just kind of let me cruise around. I tried various things on and it was alright, but I felt a little out of my depth. Then I strolled into Hawg Haven, upon suggestion of a friend. The shop is dark and very biker-esque. Almost felt like I had walked into the clubhouse of the Sons of Anarchy. Helmets, chaps, gloves, and all sorts of add-ons lined the walls. In the back of the place is a full leather alteration shop, right next to a large array of leather jackets and vests. The staff was immediately helpful, but since I was just looking, I kind of waved them off. I checked the prices before trying them on. Where other stores had set their prices around $300 and up, most of the jackets I found at Hawg Haven were of similar quality, and went for $150-$300. Having to buy everything else at once, I didn't want to go all out on my first gear, and I actually found a pretty damn good jacket on clearance for $100. I tried it on, it fit pretty damn good, and I took it up to the counter and left it there to go and look at some other stuff. When I got back to the counter, with a new bandana in hand, the amazing lady there (I'm pretty sure she's one of the owners) asked me if the jacket fit good. I said it did, but she looked skeptical and asked again, stressing how too big a fit can get air up under the surface and cause problems. I offered to try it on and she took one look at me and told me it was too big. She then went and got the same style jacket, but a size smaller, and told me to try it on. I did and the fit was very much different, and exactly what she said I was supposed to look for. It was also the same price...no upsale here! She then eyeballed me and told me exactly the size of chaps I would need, when I was ready for them. She told me their shop will alter them to fit perfectly as well. This person clearly, CLEARLY, knew her business if she could pick out at a distance that I was getting too big of an item. And she got me the exact thing I needed, saving me future misery. And she threw in a head cap complimentary, to go on under my helmet. And all with me buying a bottom-of-the-line, entry-level clearance jacket from Pakistan. Wonderful. Simply wonderful. When I upgrade my jacket, and get the rest of my gear, I will not bother going to any other joint in Salem. Nay, in Oregon. The people here obviously love riding, they love bikers, and they absolutely know their stuff. And it's a local business, not a chain. Don't bother checking any other place out...this is the place to be. Absolutely.

I got back all my extras, the container I brought them in, and my bike in perfect condition. From drop off to pick up was less than 1 business day. Now, if I were you, reading this review, I'd go "well that's great and all, but bringing your own parts was a red flag -- these guys must overcharge". Nope! I'm just paranoid and wanted to bring OEM parts -- Santiam had offered an EXTREMELY reasonable price on the parts I needed (actually, I think cheaper than what I ended up paying...) and the labor itself was a great rate -- I had been budgeting and worrying to pay twice what I was actually charged! Santiam knows their stuff, has a broad selection, charges a great price, and is fast. Everything you could possibly want from a bike shop.

This one suited him perfectly and was the right color, which is the most important thing to a 7 year old. They offered to build it at no obligation to buy, so we said to go ahead. We went back a couple days later and picked it up. Kid was very happy. I went in a couple weeks later looking for an entry-level mountain bike for myself. The guy took the time explaining all of the ins and outs and what to look for, what's worth laying more for, etc. I didn't end up buying one as I found another I liked elsewhere, but the knowledge gained here helped me make that decision. Several weeks later, I took my 13 year old road bike in to see how they could modify it for my current needs, which consists of riding through Minto Brown with my son on the laced trails and gravel roads. They gave me a some great ideas, and also presented a new bike that was more suited for what I wanted at a great price. I went for the new one, and it rides great. Likely going to take it back for some bigger tires, which was a future modifiable option that made the bike more enticing. These people are great. Get your bikes here.

Well it wasn't cheap (i could have bought another bike for the price), not fast (i have had this exact work done in a day, this took a month), or well (He redid my brakes, and didn't bleed them and sent me off with nearly no brakes), so not that. After I had another mechanic inspect them, he used to wrong parton the front, didn't refil the reservoir, and stripped the rear bleeder nipple allowing all the brake fluid in the rear to leak out after he cross threaded it and only got it in one thread. So I had to have another mechanic redo bith front and rear, replacing the front disk, and the rear calipers. I miss living in Portland and Cycltune. Chris new his business.
