I haven't been to Timbermine in years. We finally went back tonight. We got sat in the back corner which was charming. It took a little bit too long for service but they quickly made up for it. My husband had the Filet Mignon. He said it wasn't the best he's had but still really good. He wants to come back for the Prime Rib. We both had salads with their homemade ranch. It is so good I just wanted to drink it. I had the fried Shrimp. I thought it was delicious. You get five giant pieces and their cocktail sauce had a little kick to it. It's really some of the best I've had anywhere. We didn't order dessert because they start the meal with delicious bread and butter then a salad and your entree so it is a ton of food. We live in Salt Lake. Every Steakhouse there is Ala Carte. It was nice for once to just get it all as part of your dinner. It's about an hours drive for us but I've made my husband a fan. This experience is for our Corvette Club of Utah's annual Awards Dinner, so keep that in mind. I think it is a solid 4 star restaurant. It is definitely a challenge to serve 80 patrons at once. The food and service quality has to be on its game. i think that Timbermine Steakhouse did a good job. We had a banquet room to ourselves, which most restaurants do not have. We were in round tables that seated 10. Included with our dinner was a nicely flavored fruit punch, salad with Ranch dressing, dinner roll, choice of ribeye steak or halibut or teriyaki chicken, big baked potato that was delicious, and a strawberry cheesecake. All were good. We were not asked for doneness for our steaks, they all came out medium well done, but that wasn't a problem since the steaks were still tender and not dried out. For point of reference, I usually have my steak medium rare. A good steak that was sizeable, a half an inch thick that covered half of the plate. I didn't even finish mine. I think that was a good deal for $27 a person, which included the tip for the servers. The service was spot on. There were enough staff assigned to our dinner and they were on top of things. Water and punch filled and refilled, plates cleared, meal served on time and efficiently, friendly and pleasant. Our room was spacious enough for our large group. There were none of the idiosyncrasies that makes Timbermine, Timbermine. Walking in and out of the restaurant, I did notice the mine cars, the bathtub lined with Pez dispensers, things on the wall, etc. that gives it it's quirky theme atmosphere. Our event started at 4:30p and when I left at 6:30 the parking lot, which is huge, was jammed full as well as the regular restaurant space. So this place is definitely popular on Saturday nights! Good job, Timbermine, I think you are a good choice for large groups. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? I've been hesitant to try this restaurant because I was afraid the food wouldn't be good since it's gimmicky, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good everything tasted. We heard great things about this place so we wanted to check it out. The service was good and the atmosphere was fun and as if you're in the gold rush and we're seating in a mine with trees outside. We got French bread to start. Then we ordered the shrimp cocktail for appetizer. We got our salads, which were mediocre. I ordered the Ore Car and my husband ordered The Prospector, 16oz. While my food was good, my husband's steak was probably mostly fat. At least half of it was fat and for $36, that's disappointing. It was a good thing I was full and was able to give him 1/2 of my skewer meat. To be honest though, we like Prairie Schooner Steak House better. Same type of atmosphere but the food is better. Terrific steak and fries, good appetizers, and excellent service. A Western mining town theme adds to the ambiance. My steak was a perfect medium rare throughout. Well seasoned, delicious. The fries had a coating that made for good crunch and taste. The salad was crisp and cold. Our server was nice and helpful with the menu (it was our first time here). Made a reservation here for a family dinner. Their prime rib is consistently great and the full cut definitely is two meals because it's so big. The steaks were cooked perfectly. I've lived in the area for 6 years and never had been to timberline despite the many recommendations. I have to say, this dining experience was one of the best that I've had in 20+ years! Upon entering , the place was so cozy and welcoming. We were led to a booth that had a private, intimate feel. It even had an individual light dimmer. We heard music and other diners, but it wasn't the least bit intrusive. Lately, it seems like it's impossible to even have a conversation at dinner and usually we feel hurried to eat and leave. However, the server was professional and attentive without being obnoxious and rushing us. The 8oz filet with salad and potato was very good. It honestly wasn't the most amazing meal, but good. The entire dining experience was so delightful that we will definitely be back and highly recommend. Timbermine is still one of the better steakhouses in the area and the ambience / history of the place make it great for the locals and visitors alike. I was worried with how the world has "changed" that Timbermine would have become completely unaffordable, but it was quite the opposite. Prices were VERY in line with what I would expect a decent steakhouse to be and their cuts and preparation are still outstanding. We had several at the table order the Teryaki Chicken which was good, not great. We had a NY strip that was outstanding and a really good piece of Prime Rib at the table. The shrimp plate was a little disappointing and looked like it came straight from a box in the freezer, but they were tasty. The big hit at the table seemed to be the deep fried mushrooms. Celebrated my wife's birthday at Timber Mine. Food was delicious. The wait staff however, was fantastic. Whitney was our waitress and dealt with my wife's advanced dementia with grace and humor. If you were born prior to the 1970's, this might be a place you love and recommend to friends. The younger generation prefers to snub their collective noses at Timbermine, and that's just unfortunate. For what this place is, especially the history and nostalgia, I'm going to side with the more mature crowd and cheer for Timbermine. My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary and dined at Timbermine. I found the service to be fine-nothing over the top, although having to order and pay for alcohol separately was a little awkward. Usually, I order the drinks with the meal, but maybe they have to follow strange rules that require them to be separate. The ambience definitely caters to the pre-1970's crowd with the eclectic décor, antique-style wall hangings and ever-so-creepy lifelike statues of people in the lobby. Cheesy? Yes. Endearing? Also yes-in the way that you might not decorate your own home how that you grandma does, but you wouldn't want someone to come swap out her gaudy furniture or knick knacks either. It just works, so why mess with it? We both ordered steaks and they were fine. Maybe not the best, mouth-watering cow I've ever enjoyed, but it hit the spot regardless. If you prefer your steak cooked to medium temperature, better order it medium rare. I think they err on the side of cooking just a little longer, which I've also noticed is the older generation's preference. These folks know their target audience and just how to appeal to them. Our meal at Timbermine Steakhouse in Ogden Utah was a major disappointment. The steaks were incorrectly cooked: the "medium" steak was medium-well and the "medium-well" steak was medium-rare. The "Prime Rib" was just awful. It was this overcooked, rubbery, tasteless slab of meat. In addition, when we ordered a beer, the waitress could not take the order and had to send a "bar waitress" over to take out order. We had almost finished the meal and still the so-called bar waitress had not even taken out drink order. The single beer ordered finally came at the end of the meal. Very disappointed. Steak quality was quite poor. Everyone's steak was over 30% fat including a filet minion which shouldn't even have fat. 2 out of 4 steaks were undercooked. High prices for extremely low quality steak. Pretty limited food selection, especially the sides. Mac-n-cheese would have been nice. However, we loved the atmosphere and the overall experience of the restaurant. Rustic and unique. Servers were pretty good. Just wouldn't get a steak, which is sad since it's a steak house. Timbermine is an Ogden staple and well worth the visit. Their drinks are delicious, appetizers tasty, and steaks are tender. Fried mushrooms are greasy but a must if you like mushrooms in the slightest. It's really maybe more a 3-3.5 star joint, but being an Ogden gem made me round up. The wait can be long and insane on a weekend or holiday night, but if you're 21+ you can order a drink and wait at the bar. They've got lots of stuff to look at while you wait. read more

This was perfectly grilled, I could cut it with a butter knife. the baked potato had ample butter, sour cream, and chives. I have always loved the stuff mushrooms. They are not as yummy as they once were. I'm not sure why they changed. Mushroom not stuffed. Service: This time we picked it up, ready when we arrived, they didn't forget anything, perfect. I've only been to this restaurant twice. We come to the backcountry horseman social, Wasatch chapter. Every time our meal has been perfect they served a gingerbread type cheesecake that I was not a fan of. However everyone else at my table enjoyed it. I had the teriyaki chicken and it was amazing another at our table had the prime rib and they enjoyed that very much. The salad was fresh the rolls were amazing. The staff was friendly and quick. A friend from work in California had recommended Timberline. I visited the restaurant during my business trip to Ogden. I tried the 16 oz New York steak, and it was outstanding! The steak didn't last very long because it was so delicious. Amazed also at the $28 price, which is considerably cheaper than a smaller 12 oz steak at Prairie Schooner. Loved the experience at the restaurant so much that I even bought myself a Timberline tshirt; will wear it proudly in California. read more

Neat old place with a lot of stuff to look at. It is quite dark in the dining area! They have dimmers at each table which I found peculiar but hey, when in Rome! We were seated promptly and the drink server was there within minutes. Our food server arrived, very efficient and not overly friendly but that was fine, she seemed quite busy. We ordered calamari fries which were slightly over cooked (fried) but still pretty tasty. Bread and butter was ok, nothing that's going to make your toes curl but helped with hunger. Our mains came out, fries were over cooked as was the fish and crab. My steak, at the time, was good, but lacked seasoning. I added some salt which helped with flavor. The server checked on us regularly and that was that! The next morning, not feeling so great, may have been the medium rare steak as everything else was overcooked. My husband loves to go out for prime rib for his birthday. It was his birthday and we are new to Utah! I didn't want to take him out to a chain. I asked around at work, McKay-Dee hospital, and my coworkers suggested Timbermine. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. We arrived on a Friday night, 30 min wait. Ok, we'll get a drink. They had a delicious pumpkin beer on draft that was served with a cinnamon sugar rim! Yum! The waiting area had fun white claw bath tub coffee tables and a big fire place. Warm, cozy, homey. We did not wait 30 mins, more like 15. All tables are intimate and private. Our server was funny and attentive. My husband's prime rib was to die for and so was my halibut. They sang happy birthday to my husband and gave us a delicious dessert. I'm so happy we chose Timbermine and we can't wait to go back! So it's not horrible but it's not fantastic that I can't stop thinking about it. It's like I could probably cook the food myself better. The price is not worth the quality of the food. The service is good. The restaurant needed some cleaning. The floor was very sticky when I was walking on it. The salad I'm pretty sure they just buy premade salad mixes and throw on a beet. I didn't like that the salad was served on a very small plate because it made it hard to mix the dressing in. The filget mignon was very bland for that cut of meat. The baked potato was a baked potato so I guess nothing to complain about there. read more
