I love how cheesy this restaurant is, it lives up to its miner theme. But vintage as the place is, sometimes it seems a little dusty too. The food is great! The prime rib is their best dish by far, and the serving is huge! The fired mushroom are great, a large order goes quickly when our family goes there. The hidden gems are the ranch dressing for the salads and mushrooms, or the loaded style baked potato (with real shredded cheese and crumbled bacon.) I've wanted to eat here since I saw this place after visiting the nearby dinosaur park last year and I finally made the trek to Ogden. We arrived around 6 pm on a Saturday night and while the parking lot was full, we only had a 10 minute wait for a table. I can sum this place up in a short sentence: great atmosphere, awful food. Think of it as dining inside a dark cave with chotchkes lining the walls and filling all available space. There are bathtubs overflowing with holiday lights, Pez dispensers, barber poles, all manner of creepy antique dolls, ceramic statues, mannequins, plastic flowers, mining carts, taxidermy mounted on the wall, and thousands of miniature liquor bottles (don't miss the bar)! Ask to be seated in the room with the prospectors, they'll know what you mean. All of the seats are booths which is really nice. It feels private and the place is so dark inside that you even have your own adjustable light. I loved being able to brighten the light when I needed to read the menu and then turn it down for some ambience. Our server was pretty bad. Scatterbrained and although she was only waiting on one other table that was next to us, she kept getting our food confused (my thousand island dressing went to the other party while I got ranch, etc.). Even when we pointed it out it took her forever to correct her mistakes, if she managed to remember! She was super friendly so we let it slide. The menu is surprisingly small for a steakhouse. We were hungry so we ordered the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and they were mass-produced and out of a bag. They tasted gross, I could've made them at home, and they were an astounding rip-off at $6.99. Things didn't improve from there, as my iced tea was INSTANT. It's not difficult to brew tea, and I was very upset that I paid for instant tea. So gross. Every entree comes with French bread (which they claim is fresh baked but it tasted like day old bread from the supermarket), a salad, and a side. The bread was not worth eating, and the salad was laughable. It was a scoop of iceberg lettuce topped with about six garden peas, a few mass-produced croutons from a bag, and one sliced beet. No kidding. The salad proved to be the biggest embarrassment of the entire meal. For the main course, I ordered the The Miner, which was supposedly a freshly ground hamburger steak that was wrapped in bacon. My dinner had a teeny little sliver of bacon underneath and was hardly "wrapped in bacon." The sauteed onions and mushrooms were slapped in a dish on the side and were burned. Hubby had the prime rib and said it was good but not even close to the best he's ever had. His baked potato was standard and my steamed broccoli was the best thing I was served here. We didn't order wine but their wine list was oddly quite good, and their corkage fee is only $10 if you want to BYOB. I wanted to like this place but it's a big miss for me. We were taken out to eat here by family who lives in Ogden. We got the early and it was a 45 min wait which wasn't bad as there was room for us to sit and have a drink while we waited. Loved the Spring Fling drink. I would recommend it to anyone who likes a sweeter drink. The waitress was attentive even though you could tell she was busy. The cocktail waitress was awesome as well. We frequently visit Ogden to snowboard at Powder Mountain. A few years ago we came upon this steakhouse on a whim to try a new place. We are so glad we found it, words can't even describe how unique and good this place is! And the food is delicious and not overly priced. There are so many knickknack's all over the place, the kids loved it! We were sat in a large room with booths and a stream going through the middle. It made us feel like we were in the Wild West. Ambiance is very hokey and steaks were mediocre quality with too much seasoning. A disappointing anniversary dinner after hearing from some that this was one of the "best steak places" around. On the plus side, our server was attentive. Old fashioned was not very good and it's weird how they have a different server for alcohol (but we're newer to Utah and all that it entails.) I hosted a retirement party for a coworker at my favorite steakhouse. The Timbermine and it reaffirmed why this is my favorite steakhouse. First putting together the celebration was made very comfortable by Julie. We were hosting 28 guests and staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was better than good..if you like prime rib this is your spot..as far as atmosphere it is very cool and interesting from the moment you walk in. This place was poppin. We are early eaters and arrived a few minutes after opening, the place was already packed. They have a big waiting area with tacky decorations for you to look at until your table is ready, and even a bar for you to get a drink before dinner. We didnt have to wait long before we were directed into the dark dark mine where our table awaited. Dark restaurants are usually a no go for me, if I cant see what I am eating or how clean the floor is, how can the staff? Our table was wrapped around a couple corners tucked away in the "mine" seating area, the table was very private surrounded by walls, it could make for a romantic night. We were greeted by an amazing waitress with a basket of fresh soft bread, butter and sour cream, our waitress was very attentive and super sweet. The menu is very limited but did not lack "heart attack" items, a lot of fried food and meat, no healthy options besides the side salad that comes with every meal. We settled with the fried mushrooms, Yelp check in treat, the Porterhouse steak and Sirloin with fried shrimp. Everything seems to be like home style cooking made in house, from the fried items to the sour cream. Mushrooms were different, breaded and cooked to golden brown perfection, steaks were greasy and lacked seasoning, steak sauce wasnt offered and it needed some. Can only describe in one word: FANTASTIC! Their steaks are over the top! The flavor really gets into the meat and melts in your mouth as soon as it touches your tongue. I love fat on my steak and I gotta say, that was also full of flavor! Our server was also very quick, polite and helpful! She was quick to clear our table and keeping our table full at the same time. Hats off to her and the chefs who made the food! I'm also a big fan of their atmosphere! From the dimming lights to the layout, it feels like your eating alone with your family and you are able to eat in peace. timbermind was a great place to go for my special day. my daughter and family took me for a birthday dinner. the waitress was right on top of everything. drinks, bread, anything else we needed. pricey but we expected that. the alcohol drink has to be ordered by separate person on a separate tab. weird. not usually what a restaurant does. at the end of the meal they surprised me with a huge mud pie that was out of this world. 4 of us shared and there was plenty for all of us. oreo crust coffee icecream, fudge and caramel topping with whipping cream. you sit in a mine and the ambiance is awesome. get out there and enjoy yourself. fried mushrooms as appetizers to die for. read more

Tried this place out a few weeks ago. We had a small 15 minute wait but once we got seated the server came and took our order pretty quick and the food came out super quick as well. It also explains why it has been so long as to why I took all this time to return here. I am not overly impressed. Oddly dark place. Our server seemed new and unsure of the entire process. Dropped off sour cream and butter, no bread. Returned with the bread after a few minutes. Left without taking our drink order. Returned for that, left and came back to ask if we wanted appetizers. Left again. Returned five minutes later to get our meal order. The meal itself was surprising. Ordered the Prime Rib, medium-rare. I got Prime-Rib, medium raw. Back in the early 2000's, this was the place to go. However, I think that's the last time this place had a good scrub! We selected Timbermine for it's casual, group atmosphere. Don't let the "group" setting fool you. You can not fit a party of 8 in a booth! Do not let the reservation taker tell you different! The staff stated the booths are for 12!! It was so uncomfortable! Our waitress was great and facilitated our party so well. She kept the drinks topped off a Most of us ordered steaks, although requests were for medium, they all came red and bloody. A few sent their's back but then they arrived well. (My advise order the next temperature up.) read more

This is a great place for steaks. I love their deep fried mushrooms. The steaks are very flavorful and cooked to perfection any way you want it. The dining experience is great as it is themed to be an old mine setting. A must steakhouse to visit if in town... a little pricey but I promise you won't be hungry when you leave! read more

1st and last time. Ordered a filet, medium rare. They seared it and plated it. It was raw. Sent it back, the only way they could have brought the temp up that fast was microwave. After which they seared it again. So now it was charred on the outside. The interior is dark, they try to duplicate the feeling of the inside of a mine. Only one small bulb per table. For our second night in Ogden, the group was craving steaks and seafood, so we journeyed to the Timbermine. The Timbermine is as you would expect from a place with such a name: a rustic steakhouse, nestled just beneath the mountains, with its walls and floors covered in an abundance of curiosities and trappings from the age of westward expansion and mining. Despite your initial reaction that such a place is probably a tourist trap, everyone in our group had a great time and enjoyed their food. I went with the Claim Steak and I thought the New York strip that was served was pretty solid and the price was reasonable. All in all, I think if you are going to make a visit to Ogden, journeying to the Timbermine makes for a unique and fun experience. read more

Party of four on Friday night at 9:00. They close at 10:00. We were completely aware of the time and were going to order, eat and be gone. We were made to wait for a table... there were 3 waitresses / hostesses going over the evenings checks at the hostess station which made us feel like we weren't important and we're actually bothering them right from the beginning. The place is super cute! Totally like you're stepping into a mine. If that's what you are in to this is definitely your ticket. I ordered the small filet mignon which was supposed to be wrapped in bacon and I asked for it to be rare. I always order my steaks rare and was very clear. It came out medium but given the time crunch and the fact that we were given bread, salads and appetizer within 10 seconds of each other, I decided not to mention it. Having appetizers come out quickly is typically fine but this made us feel rushed and again like we were putting people out. My potato was not baked, it was straight up raw. I didn't want to be a complainer so I decided I would take it with me and pop it in the microwave when I got back to my hotel room. Yes, that's right, I am literally sitting in my hotel room right now microwaving a baked potato that I paid $25 for. YAY ME!!! I actually grew up in Utah but have lived in Arizona since 1994 so I had forgotten how folks up here can be. Perhaps it was the fact that I ordered a glass of wine with dinner that I should deserve sub par treatment... The restaurant has fun décor. We went on a Saturday night and had to wait for quite a while to get a table. Plenty of time to look around at everything. We were finally seated and they brought us some bread. I love bread but this bread was not good -- nothing special. We ordered our food -- I had The Gold Rush, a bacon wrapped filet mignon with baked potato. This is something I usually love but the meat just didn't have great flavor. No option to get a fully loaded baked potato -- just butter and sour cream. We just didn't think the food was very good at all. This is our first time here! I love the rustic feel of actually a mine door and the underground feel as you sit to eat in a private booth. The shotcreet on the ceiling is an awesome touch not lost on me! I've spent some time underground in mines! The wait was not long on a Wednesday night, it was not crowded at all. THE HOSTESS AND SERVER NEED TO NOT FIGHT IN A PUBLIC AREA!!!! This display of unusual emotional outburst was not what we went to dinner for! The food was good The steaks were ok !!! Not marvelous! I've had better flavored steaks at local Texas Roadhouse for 1/4 the price! The calamari was awesome! Along with the deep fried mozzarella sticks. Salads could use something extra, kinda lettuce only! (Tomato's, large croutons, cheese, sunflower nuts anything) I ordered the fried scrimp they came Heavy Battered and the battering had no flavor??? Maybe beer batter ???? I love the Timbermine. Everything from the odd decorations, the ambient and cozy mine shaft seating, and their incredible food is something no one else can out do. This is my third visit in 2 years. Wish we could dine here more often but it is a little pricey. But it is totally worth every penny. We went last night and can't wait for our next visit. We came at 7 and was greeted by a nice girl and seated immediately. We started with the shrimp cocktail. It was 6 large shrimp on a bed of ice and a small cup of cocktail sauce. We liked it. I always enjoy shrimp and dip. We also got a half order of fried mushrooms because the phrase "too much food" didn't exist at the moment. A half order was a massive pile of golden ohhh yeahs! It could have filled a 747. A filing cabinet. A 10 gallon hat. A pillow case...whatever units of measurement you prefer, it doesn't matter. It was a metric buttload. They were pretty good. My husband liked them more than me, but I still ate some. For my main grinz I had the 10oz prime rib. It was the BEST I've ever had from anywhere. Better than Maddox, in which for years, we would brave the crowd and twiddle our thumbs in a 2 hour wait just for a taste. Sitting in an ER waiting room for bad news is less stressful. Timbermine put them to shame IMO. Anywho, I had it cooked medium. It was perfect! Juicy, hot, and tender beyond any tender out there. It was the epitome of melt-in-your-mouth. I had the baked potato to keep my steak company. The potato was about as exciting as, well...a potato. But I still enjoyed what I could eat of it. I was pretty full, quickly and didn't finish it. It came with a salad and I asked for ranch. I'm picky with my salads, and it passed my test. Cold, crispy, no brown edges on any leaf, VERY good ranch (on the side) and flavorful, non-stale croutons that didn't shred the roof of my mouth. My husband was planning on ending world hunger with one plate, so he ordered the 32oz. Porterhouse. Holy smokes that thing was huge AND delicious! He ordered it meat-yum well. It was cooked exactly how he likes it. He got fries to go with it. He said, "They were really good and really hot." He says he will definitely get it again! Our waitress was kind and attentive. Every interaction I had with an employee was pleasant. They were all nice and polite. This is a definite YES! This is a great place for a dinner date. With a twist of a knob, the lights in the booths can dim for romance. Turn the other way and you can brighten it up for a suspect interrogation. Go to Timbermine! read more
