I'll say right off, I'm giving them 4-stars since I had time to just grab one drink and a snack. I'm sure when I come back and can hang out for longer, the next review will easily bump up to the 5-star level. Firstly, this is a cool hole in the wall, very nice ambiance, and set back in a way that makes it feel a bit like a speakeasy. The decor is very stylish and atmospheric, with plenty of comfy chairs and spaces at the bar, and the staff were quite friendly. And while I'm not the biggest fan of these in here, the bar has many countertop video poker machines, should you be inclined to play. This is a full bar, so they have plenty of selections for wine, beer, and spirits. But the main attraction are their house cocktails. Only had time to try one on this visit, but that Saffron Sazerac was very interesting indeed, and definitely makes me want to swing by and try more of their menu. And should you need something to snack on, they also have a small menu of bar bites, which is just enough to hit the spot. And as for prices, I found them pretty darn reasonable, especially given this is Tahoe, we're talking about. So yeah, all said, I have been fairly impressed with Gaviota. Definitely going to keep them on my short list of drinking spots on North Shore, and I think anyone looking for a classy beverage will love it here too. Hope to swing by again soon.

We seated ourselves inside since there weren't any outdoor tables big enough for us. We were greeted quickly, given menus and water -- and unfortunately, that was the high point of the service. Our server was noticeably rude and a bit combative from the start. She took our order and then disappeared. The food itself was good -- our table ordered a mix of salads, sandwiches, burgers, and wings -- but it came out very slowly. Half of our group waited ten minutes or more after the first plates arrived. No one checked on us, no drink refills, no "how is everything," nothing. I eventually had to go up to the bar just to ask for the check. The frustrating part is that the location is great. The outdoor seating is beautiful, with multiple levels and even an outdoor bar. I'd absolutely come back for the atmosphere alone -- just with a smaller group, and definitely not with the same server. She gave off major "my parents own this place" energy.

When did I get so many friends, lol. JK. Anyway, I wanted to show them a different area and atmosphere than Reno. We walked around town, visited Fourth Ward School Museum and ended our day here. This was the most happening place in town with a live band, people dressed up in Western gear, etc. Good local beer and free popcorn to make us drink more beer, lol. Ambiance - Decent size location, but it was crazy busy when we got here. First, we sat at the bar, then when a table became available, our guests wanted to move. Sat in the very back center which was perfect for me. Service - 5 stars, both the bartender and waitresses were friendly and welcoming. But the band was a hit!!! Not only were they good, but the lead singer was giving line dance lessons, lol. But they were welcoming. FROM the stage, they were able to ask if we had any requests. Thanked us again from the stage as we left, etc. The band was 6 stars! I'm pretty sure they thought we were NOT locals, lol. Price - $26 + generous tip. Tourist prices, but our guest is worth it! Generous tip to the band. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success.

My boyfriend and I stopped by after a BEACH of a hike from incline village, and we were pleasantly surprised to find an assortment of cocktail slushies that were all $10 and under. There was quite a long line to order food but no line for drinks, although it still took ~10 minutes to get our order, and it was a bit hard enjoying them with the bees and birds pecking at fallen scraps at their outdoor tables. Nevertheless, I highly recommend checking them out for a quick and convenient pick me up/refresher that won't break the bank!

Yep, food prices are elevated here, but consider you're at a resort beach at Lake Tahoe, world tourist destination, it's not so bad. Trick is come not on a Holiday weekend or even a weekend, come up mid week but still get here early. The food here is decent, I mean for a beach snack bar. They do have burgers and ready made foods available as well as shakes and drinks. I spent a little more $$ than normal on my lunch, but what the hell, you're on super vacay up here at the beach. My double cheeseburger and fries added up to almost $20. I brought my own drink ... which is my tip, bring your own drinks in a little ice chest. THe food was actually pretty good and have no complaints. I'm just happy they have cooked food available here at the beach.
