The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating, even letting us check in 3 hours early, which made a big difference after traveling with kids. We even had the chance to meet the owner, who was so nice and welcoming--it really made the stay feel extra special. We did not partake in the entertainment night but the person singing seemed very good. The fire pit nicely seemed like a nice touch as well. Staff was exceptional and there is not much I can complain about with our stay. Rooms seemed in good condition and it was cute to have an animal towel on our bed when we arrived. I knew nothing of the area but the bare minimum. Upon arriving here, it appears to be a bit sketch. But no need to fret on that part, just know that there is multiple layers of renovations going on for this lot and two adjacent lots. If you go back through Google Maps you can see that this wasn't always the hotel it now is. I'm not sure if this parcel was part of the tower hotel in front that is now a Days Inn, part of the parcel behind it that has been torn down, or a combination of them all. By the maps, they only go back to about 2014, it looks as if this may have been a long term residence type of place, as in apartments. With those maps you can tell the massive amounts of renovations they have made to this parcel. It looks like they gutted the building and started with an empty slate, I'm just guessing here. This calls back to the time when motels were king and direct access to the outside from your room was the norm. For me, however, I felt a bit uneasy with this, more on that later. Checking in was a bit of a task. When I showed up and walked into the lobby area there was no one around and a sign was on the desk saying that they will be back in a few minutes. I took that as a chance to stretch my legs and take in the outside. You can tell that the building was freshly remodeled with bright paint, newer looking doors for each unit, new windows, and a few other things. However, the one thing that feels neglected here is the parking lot. They spent all this time and money on redoing the building, but the parking lot just felt like an afterthought. Finally able to check in, I got my key to my room and went to move my vehicle so that it would be right outside my door. What was odd here was that there weren't so many people checked in, but of those of us that were, we were all clustered in one area, all towards the back of the property. I will say, that with the rooms opening up to the outside it is convenient for easy in and out, but it just doesn't feel safe. Even though there has been a refresh here, I feel like some more time could have been taken with the doors. Once I was in the room and settled, I noticed that there wasn't a tight seal around the door. I could actually see daylight coming in under the door and towards the top. I'm sure when winter rolls around, that won't make it very comfortable in the room. The room felt cavernous. Bigger than I expected floorplan that allowed for two queen beds, dresser and desk. Then there was the offshoot that served as a kitchen type area. I didn't notice anything in here, it was a bare kitchen, but you had your fridge in this area, as well as a microwave and sink. There is a cooktop, but nothing to cook with. I guess you have to bring that on your own. The bathroom was of a decent size as well. Shower was quite big, but there already looked like there was some water damage happening. I'm not sure how recent this place was remodeled, but that left something to be desired to see. AC worked nicely and kept the room cool in the middle of the hot days of summer. I'm sure this place will go through some growing pains in the coming months, but it's not a bad place to stay in the least. They do offer breakfast if that's your thing and it is really close to a lot of other eateries and sights in the area. Go cart track right across the street.

I was getting overwhelmed and upset, this was supposed to be a fun, short stay that was getting over shadowed by an unscrupulous company and a misrepresented and poorly maintained property. Then Ginger answered the phone at Oak Haven like she was manning the phone for the Lord's personal office. She found an available unit with the bedding we needed that she could offer the best rate on for same day check-in. And did it all with the sweetest, kindest and most helpful demeanor. And seemed genuinely interested in helping us get out of the dilemma we were in at the current cabin we'd rented elsewhere. She was a Godsend in a wretched moment where I was ready to pack up and head home! She assured us their office was open for check in til 10pm so there was no reason to change our days plans and race over. We loaded up and went about our day trying to forget what had come before. When we arrived we were met by Josie I believe her name was? I was a lot calmer and not as desperate by this time so she wasn't blazed in my mind quite the same way Ms Ginger was, but this young lady was equally delightful! And.. as a 50 yr old female I feel ok saying it was very refreshing how she was dressed and presented herself! She boosted my hope in younger people! Anyhow, obviously their customer service was a delight..you arrive and the office is at the foothill of the entrance to the resort.. a quick stop for check in, meet their delightful staff- heck grab a fresh coffee, its there! They have a map of the resort, they'll highlight the best path to get to your cabin! The gated resort has a pool, an arcade I believe and a playground maybe other things but we were already pretty planned out. Arriving at the cabin...1st thing we saw was a hard lined propane gas grill, no worries about providing your own tank or running out half way through dinner... and there was a charger by the porch for an electric vehicle. The cabin itself, #54 was a 2br..the entire upstairs was a bedroom w 2 queen beds and an full bathroom. Down stairs was an open concept w a living room, a game area with a retro arcade console, pool table, foosball, board games, extra couch seating - kitchen complete w everything needed large seating area, washer/dryer and a large master w a king, a soaker tub and an en suite bathroom with walk in shower. The screened in porch had lots of seating options, a full patio table rocking chairs, 2 porch swings, lights, ceiling fans, a large hot tub w steps and a handle, and towels hanging by the hot tub!! The beds were all comfortable, everything worked as expected, there was an abundance of towels and kitchen linens, they had after hours emergency #s posted for maintenence emergencies. The resort itself is lovely and is built around a mountain side... the drive through it isn't treacherous, but is steep in areas and might need to be a consideration if you're coming in a winter month, there also wasn't any splendid views to be had other than the beauty of the surrounding area, which has been well preserved and cabins positioned in a way to still seem remote and private. I can honestly say for future visits to the area, Oak Haven will always be where I check out 1st. I truly appreciated all they did to salvage our stay! Thanks so much!

They also have a fire pit to the side for residents to use. The outside light lines add a really cute touch to the spot. The owners were really helpful and easy to reach. I will say that I wish they cleaned up a little better before guests arrived. I know it's in the woods, but the dead bugs on the window shelf grossed me out. That aside, it is a little cramped but you shouldn't have a problem making used of the space to enjoy your stay. The beds are also comfy. Also I liked that they left a recommendation books for guests not familiar with the area.
