Stopped by Time Spot at The Oaks Mall after checking out a Citizen watch at Macy's. It was a bit over my budget, so I took a photo and figured I'd look around elsewhere. Walked into Time Spot and asked the guy working there -- if they had anything similar in looks in the $150-$200 range. He immediately said "We don't have that" in the most dismissive tone. I pointed out a few Fossil watches in his own display that looked similar, and only then he goes, "Oh yeah, there's those." Real helpful. I asked if they had any watches around 40-41mm, and he straight-up said "That doesn't exist." I told him I literally just saw one and even just took a photo of the Citizen watch -- again, clearly a 41mm. He doubled down and said, "I know what you're looking for -- that's a Rolex." I laughed because... seriously? It was condescending, arrogant, and totally inaccurate. Then he tried to show me another watch -- at that point, I was done. I said "No thanks" and walked out. What really struck me is that while I was in there, I overheard two other young men also mention they were looking for something around $200 -- so I know it wasn't just me shopping on a budget. Still, this guy acted like I didn't know what I was talking about and tried to pull one over on me. Whether it was upselling, gatekeeping, or just plain rudeness -- it was uncalled for. If you're looking for basic respect, honesty, or even someone who knows what they're talking about -- avoid this store completely. Daniel, the owner, fixed a treasured 5-faced clock for me. It's not just that he fixed it; he truly went the extra mike for me. Now, this was a very special, maritime-themed clock to me. I bought it while traveling in Mumbai, India. It was the wheel on a ship, that has been taken apart to recycle. The wheel formed the peripheral circle of this clock, and it had 4 more smaller clocks inside the main face, thus showing the time in not only your location, but also 4 other cities in the world. In transporting this clock, it had gotten damaged some. Daniel addressed the face of the click as well as all the workings for the 4 smaller clocks. In giving me an estimate over the phone, he quoted a certain price. Later, on checking the actual price of the parts, it was higher. However, Daniel stayed true to his word, and honored his earlier quote -- all on his own -- I didn't even have to remind him. What a classy guy. AAA+++ Amazingly, it seems i had a moment to step inside of this intentionally and fabulous store, the numerous brands of watches which they stock and offer are well represented as each brand is properly organized and arranged with a proud full array. After carefully gazing (although quickly) at each of these fine brands which i have previously been familiar due to the established reputations of quality and reliability, i realized that i need to return and perhaps select one for myself. I spoke with the proprietor as well as his associate. With regard repair and restoration of sentimental and nostalgic watches that i have, i feel that "Time Spot" will be the accurate choice for me. There are always 2 sides to these reviews people leave on here. Too bad it can't always be explained clearly for people to make their own personal judgement and experience. This store is an amazing watch store with a plethora of time pieces not even available in the larger anchor stores. Special orders are easily available with the products being from authorized Watch companies. I did a special order myself. I brought my G-Shock to get the battery replaced. The guy gave me a price, it was steep. He quickly explained why it was pricey. He said "G-Shocks take two batteries and they are difficult to work on". I understood, and agreed. Also before leaving, he mentioned if I want the watch waterproof again - $20 up charge, if not he gave me a cheaper price. I said "I want my watch back to its original condition, so yes, make it waterproof". Maybe when changing the battery you compromise the gasket or seal the watch has? Wrong. I'll get back to that. I came back a few hours later, Watch was working! I paid him and left. Got in my car and noticed the sub-dial wasn't calibrated. The time was correct. I went back and mentioned to him the sub-dial isn't calibrated. He looks up and says "I don't know how to do that!" I gave him a long stare then says "G-Shocks have that problem when you change the batteries! I've done these watches 40 times and I always have that issue!" So I said "well I just paid you, and you could've told me that's an issue in the beginning before leaving my watch". He kept apologizing. It took a YouTube video to show me how to calibrate the sub-dial. Very easy to do, unbelievable the "watch experts" couldn't do that. Or at the very least try to do it for me. They were being lazy. That's like hiring a mechanic who doesn't know how to drive, or reset a oil light. Here's what really ticked me off. Just to see "how difficult it is" to change G-Shock watch batteries, I YouTube'd it. Turns out that waterproof seal the guy mentioned he needs to remove and reapply to make "waterproof" again, Hence the $20 up charge. Is a damn reusable O-ring that goes between the plate and back of the watch, that causes the waterproof seal. Then you put a lubricant on the O-ring. $20 for a tiny drop of lubricate the damn O-ring. How could up sell something like that? It's just common courtesy to do something like that! If he was slick - he could have said the O-ring was single use and needs to be replaced. Not honest, and lazy work. Unfortunate because this is where I bought my G-Shock watch for $400 (was the top-of-line G-shock at the time, mudmaster series)!!! I bought the Hamilton Khaki Aviation from their eBay store on 05/07/2020. The watch arrived broken on 05/13/2020. I wrote the seller via e-mail that the worldtimer/ chronograph seemed off and didn't work properly even after I tried programming the watch several times. The seller wrote back "I don't think anything is wrong with the watch. It's just how to set it. You can go on YouTube they have videos on it or Hamilton website or calling them." I thought this was strange, since they claimed on the eBay website that they were an authorized dealer and the watch was covered under 2 year warranty so why would they not contact Hamilton for me? I waited until the watch stores started opened up again after the lockdown to get a second opinion. When a dealer in Los Angeles finally opened I let the dealer take a look at it and he told me that there was definitely something wrong with the watch. Then he realized that the seller didn't stamp the warranty card that the watch came with, so he could not even ship it out for repairs. So I reached out to this shady seller and told him I wanted to return the broken watch and get a refund. He declined my request. Then I asked the shady seller to stamp my warranty card at least, and the seller said he would if I mailed it to him. Yeah, right. I went to the actual store in the mall and asked for the stamp in person. The owner was not there, but an employee gave stamped the card for me. I asked the employee if the store sent watches on the customer's behalf to get the watch fixed via warranty and the employee said "we can stamp the card, but we do not deal with the watch company." Then why advertise on the website that their watches were covered under 2 year warranty? So I went back to the authorized dealer that told me the new watch was broken and gave it to them to get the watch fixed via warranty. After about two months, I finally got the watch from Hamilton, and when I received a small bag of all the broken/ replaced parts I was shocked at how broken my watch was. Beware of this seller. The seller sells broken watches and doesn't even provide stamped warranty cards with them so you can't even get them fixed even if your watch was broken. They make false advertisements on their watches and say their watches are covered by 2 year warehouse warranty, but no watch company will fix a watch without a stamped card. Normally I don't write these types of reviews, but I wanted to spare any new customers the headache and warn customers of this shady seller. Make sure you get a stamped warranty card and make sure your watch is not broken. I guess one thing they have going for them is that they sell authentic watches - just broken ones. read more

I went in to have a battery changed. Two older gentleman assisted. They kept the watch for a full day and then told me they couldn't get the band off to get to the back of the watch. They were not friendly and in fact a bit rude. I took the same watch to Batteries and Bulbs on Moorpark blvd. very nice folks replaced the battery in less the 10 min and was half the cost with a lifetime battery warranty. AVOID THIS UNETHICAL STORE !!! DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! My wife bought a watch as a present for our wedding. She asked the manager if she can return the $900 watch if I ended up not liking it. She told the manager when the wedding was and he ( Fred) said not a problem. The day after we got back from our honeymoon we went in to return the watch (it was still in the plastic and never opened) and the same manager said he would not return it. He acknowledged that he told my wife we could return it but would not give me a reason why he changed his mind!!!! I had a 20 minute discussion with him and wouldn't even make eye contact with me!!! He was working on something and wasn't even man enough to look up, make eye contact, and give me a reason. I even offered to buy another watch on the spot. He still said too bad and that he changed his mind even though he admitted telling my wife we can return it for a full refund!! I brought in two watches to get new batteries over a year ago (keep reading to see why I am posting this now). They quoted me two different prices for the watches, because one was Burberry so they wanted more money to put a battery in that watch. The other is a Michael Kors. I knew they were both made by fossil and that was sign 1 not to proceed, but I was already there so decide to say fine. The batteries died within a week for the Burberry and about 2 months later for the Michael Kors. This week (3/23/2015) I take my watch to a jeweler to get new batteries in westlake village. Same price for both watches ($15 per watch and he showed me the new battery he took out of each single wrapped package from the manufacturer). When he takes apart my Burberry, there is a piece of scotch tape holding something in place in the battery slot, he said this is very unusual (aka would never be there from a manufacturer) and probably why your watch stopped working after bringing to Time Spot. Time Spot was the first, and until this week, only time my watch had been opened up since it was purchased. They broke it, tried to cover it up leaving me with a worthless watch. There is truly nothing I can do beyond explain my story and frustration how I cannot wear a beautiful watch that was a special gift I received at a special time in my life. I doubt they respond to this, and decided not to waste my time going into the store as I can only foresee that they will want to tell me I'm wrong, and that will only be more frustrating to me. read more

Thieves! I just took my Tag Heuer out of the drawer to wear. The last time I wore the watch was the day I brought it to Time Spot for a battery replacement. They stole the Tag Heuer bezel and switched it out for a cheap generic piece. Absolutely maddening! No recourse can be had at this point, especially with the other bad reviews. read more

I've had a couple of experiences with this place. Both negative. The first occasion was purchasing a new stainless steel bracelet for my Citizen Skyhawk. Which went fine, no issues there. But a week later, a pin on the bracelet literally fell out, leaving the watch unwearable. The bracelet itself was pristine aside from this fact, so it was clearly a defect. I brought it back in...with my receipt, trusting that they would pop it back together. A five minute job. Nope. I was actually charged for the repair, which was beyond ridiculous. I then needed a link taken out of the bracelet for my Omega Seamaster, so being a trusting (maybe foolish) soul, I brought it in to Time Spot. I was told that watch would have to be left overnight because the bracelet needed a link drilled out. OK...Well that sounded strange, because I knew that the bracelet was perfectly fine, but hey...there was no way that they could mess that up, right? So I pick it up the next day and proceed on my merry way. It's not til almost a month later that I take the watch in to be serviced at an authorized Omega dealer, that I'm told (and kindly shown) that the links were put back together incorrectly. My mind was a little blown. Luckily, they were able to correct the problem. Here's the thing: these are two fairly simple issues that this store failed on - basic customer service and the quality of the work. This watch store is best avoided. read more

I bought my first Ball Watch here and I will be back to buy another. I had a great experience shopping here and will never go anywhere else. I bought this new Ball watch when I dropped off my old watch to get fixed. This watch was my Tiger Tudor and I couldn't get anyone to fix it for me. When I dropped it off they said that it would be about a week before they could give me a quote to do the work and when they called back later that week to tell me that they could do it for less than what I had been quoted before I went ahead and did it. I had a Wenger watch that needed either a new clasp or bracelet. I came in asking for help. While describing the situation, I casually remarked that the old clasp "fell off" or something. He felt the need to correct me that "No, it broke." OK? It sounds like a trivial point, typing it now, but his attitude was surly. That seems to be the trend among watch repair places, it seems. I say do yourself a favor and head over to Fast-Fix, which is also in the T.O. mall. As for the watch itself, he said that if I wanted a new bracelet, I would need to go to the company, as it's difficult to match the finish. Fair enough. But then I went over to Fast-Fix, and the fellow there offered to replace just the clasp portion (and keep the same bracelet) for $25, and it'd be done in half an hour. He was the first place out of the 3 I contacted that offered to do an honest-to-goodness repair.. Sold. I've had the watch back for a day, and it's fantastic. read more

The woman who helped me was incredibly helpful and patient as I was torn between two designs... Finally I chose one and was very happy with it as it was much more gorgeous in person (of course). Could've bought it online and saved a few bucks, but personally I like supporting small businesses and my community (a novel concept, I know). They were able to size it for me and I was very happy with my purchase and the service I received. I might check back in a few months and see if that second watch is still available... I have trusted the folks at Tine Spot on several occasions. They are consistently expert in their advice and accurate in their repairs. In this age of online everything, it is a rare thing to find honest and well-stocked craftsmen that you can walk in and ask for their expertise. My latest visit was to purchase a watch band for my son (the watch was purchased elsewhere). They were patient and very helpful in selecting a band and then swapping it out. Once my son began typing on his computer, he noticed how different the fit was and asked if we could swap it back to the original until school is out. The staff at Time Spot didn't bat an eye and didn't charge me a thing to switch and offered to exchange the band for another. With so many small businesses closing, I am grateful for places and people like this and would recommend them for their honesty and their value. read more
