Simi Watch & Jewelry is an outstanding clock repair shop! I think they are the best skilled clock repair people in the business. The owner is Vic and his son is Sean. We talked and worked with Sean. After the Jan. 17, 1994 Earthquake, we tried to get our old valuable clocks repaired. We must have visited five different so call expert clock shops. One individual kept our clocks for a month and charged us $100. He said, "Your clocks cannot be repaired." Sean came through for us. He not only repaired the clocks, but also did it in a week's time. He also gave us a two-year warranty on his work. You cannot find skilled people like this anymore. On top of this Sean is clean cut, intelligent, knowledgeable, and a wonderful person. I'm not one that writes negatives reviews lightly, however, this time it is a must that I write one, mainly to warn others so they do not fall victim of this SCAMMER / CON-ARTIST or whatever term may be used to describe a deceptive business, I'm referring to Simi Watch and Jewlery of Simi Valley California, run by Sean (Real name Shant Dochoghlian), he also runs another jewlery repair shop on Altadena California. Simi Watch and Jewlery of Simi Valley, ruined a VERY expensive solid gold ROLEX President watch when I shipped it to this shop for "Proffessional" polishing service, (Proffessional, what a joke), after many emails, phone calls and deceptive replies from Shant my watch was returned to me. After two weeks I contacted the shop to request the return of my watch, Shant assured me that my watch had already been shipped back to me, however, when I asked him to provide me the tracking number he had all kind of excuses as to why he couldn't give me the tracking number, when I really pressed for it, he rushed to a UPS to ship it back. Of course Tracking information showed date and time the package was handed over to the shipping company, this in itself was pretty deceiving. My watch was returned to me all messed up and in NON working g condition, I tried to contact the shop to discuss the horrible nightmare job they did, I left many messages but I never received a single reply. My watch was in perfect working condition when I sent it and it only needed polishing, "Simi Watch and Jewlery" advertises Proffessional polishing service and repair of high end watches, however, what they did to my otherwise perfect watch was a travesty, they basically mutilated and ruined my expensive Rolex watch, now I have to pay a lot of money to a real Proffessional just to bring my watch back to working conditions, however, the unnecessary wear and tear that was added to the finish of my watch with their horrible and mediocre polishing method is irreversible. Most Rolex watches have an exquisite satin brushed finish on the top of the case on all four lugs / corners of the watch while the rest of the case has a high shine finish thus creating a beautiful contrasts with the brush finish; for starters, these guys completely got rid of all the brushed finish and polished the entire case to a high shine finish, in doing so they also over-buffed and rounded the sharp corners/ edges of the case making it look horrible which of course it deeply depreciates de value of any high end watch. Secondly, in order to do a Proffessional polish the watch needs to be disassembled, the movement, crystal, bezel, winding crown need to be separated from the watch, which they did, however, when the watch was put back together it was improperly done, the DAY and DATE calendar window displays where completely off, showing only part of the day of the week, as well as part of the numeric calendar thru the window, the watch was not ticking at all, when I pulled the winding crown out to try to adjust the calendar, the crown broke off the watch rendering the watch completely inoperable. Additionally, the also 18K gold president bracelet of the watch that was also supposed to be polished was returned in worse condition than it was, it has now several deep dings or indentations on the edges of the clasp, I'm assuming these were caused when the bracelet was secured unprotected to a vise or something similar for the polishing, the bracelet also have alternating rows of brushed finish and high shine finish links which were also screwed up. At the end of the day, in great part it is my fault and I blame myself for not doing a proper research on the trustworthiness of this shop before trusting such a piece to a totally stranger, however, I'm still seriously considering suing for the repairs. Again, the sole purpose of sharing my experience is to warn people who may have a high end piece of Jewlery or a family heirloom that you cherish PLEASE don't do what I did, do your homework first, research the reputation of the merchant before you hand over your valuable piece or else you will regret it deeply.
