I'll be honest: I was a bit skeptical walking into this tailor for the first time. It's not a place I've heard much about, and there aren't many reviews out there, so giving them a chance felt like a bit of a gamble. But I'm genuinely glad I did. For anyone planning a visit, a few things to know: the shop is small, so don't expect a big storefront or waiting area. It's also located on a busy main street where you can't park, so you'll need to find a spot on one of the side streets nearby. Inside, the music was a little on the loud side, so I found myself raising my voice during the conversation--not a huge issue, but noticeable. I brought in a new coat that mysteriously ended up with what looked like an ink stain--one that water and Shout couldn't handle. The woman who helped me was straightforward. She said they'd try to remove it, and it would be $10. That's a great price. I dropped it off on a Monday and was told it would be ready by the end of the week and that someone would call me. The call never came, so by Saturday I reached out myself. When I picked up the coat, the stain was completely gone. I was honestly so relieved--my coat looked brand new again. The only thing that keeps this from being a five-star experience is the communication. Since I never got that pick-up call, I figure I'll need to stay proactive with future items. Makes me wonder how long it would've sat there if I hadn't checked in. But overall? Great work, great pricing, convenient location (right across from Enterprise), and a much better experience than I expected. I can't say enough positive things about this business. I have been several times and won't go to another tailor. They are welcoming, highly professional, honest, fast, and just exceptionally skilled. Most recently even though I told him I didn't need the tuxedo tailored for another month, he turned it around in just a couple of days, and it looks absolutely perfect and all at a very fair price. Excellent service! Both professional and personal. My dad passed away, and I was hoping to get one of his jackets resized to fit me. For context, my dad was a big guy (6'1" 215lbs) and I am 5'11" 170lbs. I took the jacket to three different tailors only to be turned away because the job was either too big or too complicated. When I brought the jacket to WB&S, they were more than happy to accept the challenge. They treated the jacket as if it was their own and did an excellent job reconstructing the jacket to fit my much smaller frame. I will be bringing my dad's tux in next. read more

An all around great experience! I needed a suit and jacket altered, and I'm so glad I decided to have it done at William Browne & Sons. Paul was so kind, welcoming, and more than accommodating during a busy prom season. I had plans to go out of town, and he was more than happy to open up shop two hours before the scheduled opening to make sure I had everything I needed! Oh, and the alterations were great! I got a significant tear in one of my favorite pairs of pants and tried to fix it myself, poorly. I didn't expect to be able to wear the pants outside of the house but I really liked them so got them fixed here. When I got the pants back, I actually said "wow" when I finally saw the patch that was applied because I didn't see it at first. It was done so well and I will definitely be wearing them outside of the house again! Also, my repairs were done in less than 24 hours! Great service. read more

I purchased two pairs of pants from an online retailer but specified the wrong length. I received the pants one day before a two week vacation in Italy. I needed the pants altered to the correct length and I had exactly one day to get it done! I found this tailor shop via Yelp and saw the five (5) star reviews, so I took a chance and drove over. After explaining my situation and asking them if they could do a same-day alteration, the answer was "no problem, it'll be done by 4:00pm." They were BETTER than their word, finished earlier then promised, and did excellent work. My dilemma went from "No way!" to "No problem!" thanks to these guys and they are worth every penny! read more

A+ Service . I have been dealing with Mr.Brown and his son Paul for years and they are by far my favorite tailors. My alterations are always flawless and look just like the manufacturers. If i'm not satisfied with anything I can always tell Paul what needs to be changed and he will fix it to my expectations. I am very particular about how my clothes look and fit and Paul is my go to guy. I have tried other places and they may be a little cheaper but the work is not flawless. I buy a lot of expensive denim and I will only trust this place for any of my alterations. If you want it done right this place is a no brainier. read more

I wish I could give William Browne & Sons more than five stars! This past holiday season I had a wedding to attend in Spain and at the last minute decided I wanted sleeves added to my dress. The only other tailor I have been to in the area (I've been in Boston for two years) was closed for the holiday season so I went to William Browne based on their good Yelp reviews, proximity to my home, and because other reviewers mentioned their willingness to accommodate emergency requests. I stopped by five days before Christmas and explained what I wanted to have done, but the gentleman laughed when I said I needed it by Christmas Day and told me he had a three week wait. I asked if he had anyone in the area to whom he could refer me and said the only tailor he would trust with the work was a certain one at Neiman Marcus who was also not available until after the holidays. Needless to say I was pretty deflated and thought I might have to give up my dream of wearing a long-sleeved dress. To make a long story short, not only did William Browne & Sons add the sleeves in time for my trip, but the gentleman in charge worked until 7 pm on Christmas Eve to finish the dress. It looked perfect and I received so many compliments on it. I actually feel guilty that I was charged only $25. Beyond the incredible customer service and impeccable work, visiting the shop itself is truly a cultural experience that I won't soon forget. read more

Fantastic Alterations! I waited until last minute to decide I wanted a new dress for a wedding, found the perfect dress and of course there was only one size left, way too big. I bought it and called Browne and Sons after reading the first review on here, hoping they could help me with only one day till the wedding. I even called on a saturday! I called at 9am and they told me to come on in and they would help me out. I went over right away, expecting just to have them do some small quick things and I would get the rest of the body altered when I had more time. Paul Browne pinned the whole dress for me, shortened it, made the whole body smaller and shortened the straps. He did an amazing job on the alterations, you would never know it wasn't bought off the rack just as it is now. I dropped it off at about 10 am and had it back that same evening, pressed and ready to go! If you need same day emergency alterations or just alterations in general this is a fabulous place. The were very friendly and helpful, definitely know how to run a business. The price wasn't bad either, I've had some alterations done in Newton and at Bloomingdales before and it doesn't even compare, from now on I will bring all my items here. read more

I love this place. My 1st visit here was on an emergency basis. I was going to a wedding later that day. It was 11:00 a.m. and I needed my dress altered. I was referred to another dry cleaning service that told me they no longer did same day alterations, but referred me to Browne & Sons. I walked in frantic and in a rush. The gentleman said they were busy, but could have it done by the afternoon and they did! They do not typically do same day alterations, but they made an exception. Since then, I have been going to them for my dry cleaning services and alterations. The older gentleman is a sweetheart. His son that is there most of the time is just as nice. read more

I had some other place tailor some dresses for me and he did nothing and charged me $40 and william browne and sons felt so bad for me because I needed it the next morning and they got it done and stayed until almost 10pm to get it done for me I was so appreciative I didn't even know what to say I almost kissed the man cause I did not know what to do.
