I should have read the Yelp reviews before eating here. This place is one step below super basic. I wasn't expecting a life changing experience, but two of our four sandwiches were basically inedible without serious doctoring at home (we ordered takeout). The Ruben and chicken pesto sandwiches were fine. I wouldn't go out of my way to come to Timothy's again just for either of those, but they were at least edible. The "zesty chicken" sandwich was neither "zesty" nor actual chicken. It was a school lunch style breaded "chicken" patty (microwaved?), served on a dry bun with a tablespoon of a sauce and red cabbage mix. If we had been eating there, I would have sent it back - something I've only done a couple of times in my entire life. They also forgot an item from my order, which happens and wasn't a huge deal, but just a flag for folks to check their entire order before leaving if you do takeout. I'm not super picky. I love hole-in-the-wall places. I love basic bar food. But Timothy's really doesn't cut it. We won't be back. read more

We had a very nice experience at Timothy's. Lovely day so we sat outside. I loved our waiter and the self-proclaimed .World's Okayest bartender.' We started with the crab fries, they were very tasty. All the bas reviews have kept me from coming here. If you're coming looking for a Michelin star meal you'll be disappointed. But the place is a bar with food that hits well above the usual bar fare. Timothy's has really gone down. It's unfortunate because this used to be a great place to gather during football season. I met up with 2 friends to watch a football game and arrived early to get a good table in the bar area. Much to my surprise, since I had not been there since Fall 21, there was no need to rush. During the entire 1 o'clock games there were only 14 customers in the bar (including us). The menu prices have gone up, which seems a lot. I of course know food has as well, so I understand. Both friends ordered nachos with chicken and they forgot the chicken on one, so it had to go back to have it added. The Crab Dip used to be amazing but it was mediocre at best this day. How with only 14 patrons is the service slow? We had to go over to the bar to ask for service, we had to ask to have our table cleared of dirty dishes and had to ask multiple times for the check. Worst restaurant experince ever! Had reservations, no host to greet or seat us. I had to go to bartenders to ask about our reservation, tables were all dirty and the one staff member was chilling at a table ignoring us. There was not enough menus given once we were seated, we had to go and get them ourselves,drink service was slow, had to wait to order, one other table visable When appetizers arrived, we had no silverware, plates or napkins, had to ask for them, food was cold by the time we got plates. We had to ask our server to take our remaining lunch order. While we were waiting for our entrees, we needed additonal beverage, we had to go to the bar to get drinks. Food was not good, 2 out of a 10 rateing, chefs were seen eating while cooking, thats discusting. We had to go to the still dirty tables next to us to get salt, pepper and condiments. The only highlight was the bartenders, the bar was clean and the staff on that side was great. Final note the place was dirty from front entrance to restrooms. My wife and I stopped in hoping for a good meal, but everything we were served felt like it came straight from a freezer bag and into a microwave. We started with the cheesesteak egg rolls, which were cut on some odd diagonal bias like they were trying to be fancy--but looks aside, they were completely flavorless. My wife ordered the French onion soup, which sadly resembled dirty dishwater more than anything savory or comforting. The broth was weak, the onions barely present, and the melted cheese on top couldn't save it. I had the boneless chicken wings, and if you've ever had tough, rubbery chicken that's clearly been frozen and overcooked, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Chewing them was a chore. I left half my food untouched. When the manager came over and asked if I wanted a box to take it home, he didn't even flinch when I said no, as if he hears that all the time. My family went there for Thanksgiving and did not stay. We had a reservation at 4:00. When we arrived there was a line out the door. We waited on line for about 40 minutes. They did not even check to see if we indeed had a reservation. We were seated in the party room. Nothing on the table expect for a tablecloth. Waiter came 10 minutes later and place silverware in pile on the table. There was a long line for the buffet. No clean plates at that time. Tables had dirty plates on them. We did not eat and left right after we got the silverware. I would not recommend going for Thanksgiving. We had Thanksgiving dinner at a diner and had a better experience. read more

This review is for rental of the Timothy's hall event space, not for a standard restaurant visit. I rented the front event space with bar a few years ago to celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. Everything went perfectly at that time so I didn't hesitate to consider Timothy's again when planning a celebration of life event for my cousin. Brandon (the Manager) was really helpful whenever he responded to emails. Rachel wasn't as good at responding fully (answering all questions, providing requested items, etc.) The night before the event Rachel called to inform me they didn't get the linens we had requested but fortunately they had an alternate color that could work with our color scheme. Unfortunately, after confirming several times that we would be let into the venue at 10:00 A.M. to begin setup of our event that started at 11:00 A.M. nobody was in the restaurant at all at that time. We waited outside in the rain (with all of our party supplies) for 30 minutes as we knocked on the door, called repeatedly and emailed. Thankfully, we pulled together as a team and were able to decorate the space down to the last minute when our guests started arriving at 11:00 A.M. The stress however of them not showing up was awful and we didn't receive any apology or offer of a discount. The carpets in the larger hall were really dirty and stained so that was a little embarrassing. When we were trying to set up the music (that was to tie in to the built in speaker system) we had a lot of trouble and the workers that were in at that time said the Manager would need to help with that when she arrived. Eventually we had too many issues with the music and we switched to our backup plan of using our own Bluetooth speaker. The microphone (that we paid to rent) also had issues and even turned all the way up was barely audible. The food was GOOD but it was brought out late. The workers that brought the food out told us Management hadn't even informed them when the food was supposed to be brought out (that was specified previously). The servers didn't check often for drinks but it wasn't a huge deal as we just tracked them down when we needed something. There are separate bathrooms for the larger hall rental. They had super watered down hand soap and they weren't very clean (the trash cans had something brown on top...probably rust but gross looking and should be replaced). We had the rental through 3:00 but the workers were already coming out to change out things for the next event during our time which was again, a little embarrassing as there were still guests in the space. When we went to pay the final bill Rachel had doubled the charge on the microphone and podium rental. I happened to notice that so I pointed it out to her and initially she began to disagree until I pointed out on their pricing it was $25 so she corrected it for us. Overall the errors didn't hugely impact the event for the guests (just us throwing the event), other than the carpets being dirty and the bathrooms being dirty. read more

The bar staff were pleasant but largely inattentive. They stood at the far end of the very large bar while my drink glass remained empty. When the food came out, no silverware was or condiments. On most occasions, those are in place as soon as the order is received. The hot chicken sandwich and fries were just ok. We were out exploring the Wilmington Riverfront on a recent Sunday morning and decided to seek out a lunch spot. We were attracted to Timothy's outdoor seating overlooking the water and only ducked inside long enough to alert the hostess we would be sitting outside. So I have no comment on the interior. After looking over the menu, I peeked at Yelp. Whoa, the reviews weren't so good. But a careful reading showed that most of the complaints were about service, not food. And admit it, the service industry has been struggling during the pandemic and restaurants in particular have been hurting for good staff. We were hungry so opted to go with the moment. Our waitress Miya (sorry if I misspelled your name!) was delightful and able to answer several questions about the menu. I choose the Southwest Chicken Salad ($15) which was generous in size and with more tender chicken than I could eat. My husband had the Philly Cheesesteak ($13) with fries. He said the beef was chopped not sliced and it was unusual to be served with sautéed peppers but he liked it. Overall, pleasant service, decent food, and good value. We'd return. read more

I have been here once a very long time ago, like ten years ago and I don't remember it being how it was tonight. The location is great but you have to park elsewhere and then walk over. The patio area looked nice but I had been summoned to the bar by a friend. And unlike other reviewers who were left waiting for the bartenders attention, I was asked what I wanted to drink before I could even put my bag down. My friend who had already been sitting there said happy hour was over, it's from 4:30 to 6:30. I got the pomegranate punch. It was okay. They did have specials and tonight (Tuesdays) it was 1/2 off a traditional pizza. The price and the portion was nice but I took issue with the pizza. The menu said traditional. I don't think I'd call it that. The tomato sauce base had onions in it. I don't like onions on my pizza and didn't appreciate finding them under my pizza either. And it was messy. When you tried to pull a slice away the cheese just slid off into a rubberband like oiIslick. And one of the two small plates we got had crumbs already on it. My slice wound up as a contorted piece of bread with a wad of stringy cheese on a bar napkin. I let my friend take the rest. read more

We really sorry we did not read the reviews before going to this establishment yesterday afternoon. They have really gone into the dumps. Beside the food & Drinks being sub par. The menus were filthy (dirty). The Barmaid working paid little or no attention to her job. We never received silverware (a couple of women who she was serving had to tell her that we had no silverware). In addition, when it came time to pay she brought us the wrong bill and even disappeared again, so it took us 10 minutes to get the correct check. We are every generous tippers (usually 30%/50% during the holidays). However, when my girlfriend insists on paying I know the tip is going to be a note on service. This Barmaid got such a note & $2.00 Tip. My advice is find somewhere else to eat on the Waterfront Banks' Seafood Kitchen and Raw Bar, even Iron Hill, but not here. read more

I got a coke and it came with no carbonation and all syrup, absolutely disgusting. One again, not the waiters fault. We had a gigantic group outing show up at Timothy's. They were very accommodating, and prepared both indoor and outdoor options for us. We went inside and they had a whole section devoted to our group. They were understaffed with a sign to that effect, and that always raises a notable eyebrow - are they not paying employees enough? (COVID issues - some workers in the food industry find it pays better to just stay home and collect unemployment.) Moving beyond that, the service seemed slow but we got out of there ahead of schedule so I guess it was just my perception. Beer offerings were mostly the national brand standards, relatively disappointing and nothing on tap from Delaware. You have Dogfish Head right there! Come on! I ended up ordering the hot chicken sandwich because I didn't find anything I really wanted (to be fair, I had just dreamt about apple pie, so that's not so much their fault). The chicken was not hot, unless they meant temperature. It was a nice size but rather flat, so you taste mostly breading in every bite. Fries were good but there weren't all that many on the plate. Overall impression: Overpriced for what you get and better food to be had elsewhere, but they recover a star for dealing with a large group well and that is appreciated. read more
