Had an amazing experience at The Pearl in Tampa yesterday. From the atmosphere to the food, everything truly felt Michelin-star worthy. Hector was a great server and was very knowledgeable of the menu! I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was phenomenal perfectly seasoned, flavorful, and cooked just right. I also tried pieces of the fish and chips, and the fish was incredibly delicate with a light, crispy crunch on the batter that made every bite stand out. Overall, the quality, presentation, and taste of everything we had were outstanding. I dined at The Pearl for the first time last night after looking forward to it for quite a while. My first impression was that the restaurant is beautiful, the decor, lighting, and large windows made it feel bright, open, and welcoming. The hostess was polite, though she seemed a bit stressed and not especially warm. One small downside was the seating. There were open booths by the window that I had hoped for, especially since I was dining with an out-of-town friend, but we were seated in a much darker area toward the back. Not a huge issue, just not the atmosphere I was hoping for. That said, the service was prompt, and the food and drinks were outstanding. Everything we ordered; drinks, appetizers, entrees and dessert was excellent, and I'm already looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu. A couple minor negatives: the bathrooms could have been cleaner and had an odor, and my first drink had a small bug in it and needed to be remade. It may be worth having the bar area checked for gnats. Overall though, it was still a great experience and definitely worth visiting. read more

My group and I visited Tampa for the BTS concert (of course) and were searching for a brunch place that served oysters. We went on a Saturday, which was bustling with people (always a good sign), so I recommend making a reservation beforehand. The food overall was as good as breakfast foods can get. It was good, but nothing out of the ordinary or anything so unique that made me want to come here again for brunch. The same sentiment goes for the oysters that we had. This restaurant does not do MP and has a fixed price of $13 for 3 oysters. The sizing of the oysters was on the small side, so it was a bit pricey, but our waitress offered to let us organize them by the regions in which they came from, so that was a nice touch. They were extremely fresh and very delicious. Now, we ordered the Thai Curry Mussels as an appetizer, but it stole the show. Easily the best dish in our spread. The curry sauce was seasoned perfectly, with a hint of sweetness from the bell peppers and saltiness from the mussels. It was the perfect combination of flavors. It is paired with a soft, buttery garlic bread that soaks up the curry quite well. The sauce was so delicious that we asked our waitress for some more bread to finish the sauce off! I would solely come back to this restaurant for this appetizer alone. Stopped out here for a quick lunch on water street as it's been in my cross hairs for some time now, so glad I did! Tried a few quick bites a first for the oysters as well as the fried pickles, hands down the oysters were the best part, only complaint is there was only 3! Since I wasn't super hungry after that I just got the Cuban sandwich which, I have no complaints about. Bread was tasty and the flavor overall hit the spot! They had manhattans on the menu so I gave that a go, it wasn't exactly what I would expect for a manhattan as it was too sweet, but that's okay still good enough to drink! They do have large ice for my old fashioned friends if interested for an upcharge. One thing I didn't expect of this restaurant was how huge it really is, multiple dining rooms as well as outdoor seating. I at here twice while attending a conference - two different vendor group's. Food was good . I was not blown away by the food at either setting. One very large in a private room with a prix fix menu, one a group of four in the main dining area. Both times the service was great and drinks were good. But my steak the first night was over fine and the braised short rib the second night was good but not great. I did like the desserts and the large tater tot appetizer. Great ambiance. read more

If you've ever wondered what it's like to be personally attacked by root vegetables, this is your moment. My colleague had the burger, declared it delicious, and gave it that satisfied nod people do when the price doesn't haunt them. Another colleague got the seafood salad, which she rated a confident "good," the same tone you use when someone shows you pictures of their kids that look like other kids. And then there was the colleague who ordered the sea bass over gnocchi special. The portion size? Let's just say I've seen larger appetizers, airline snacks, and possibly communion wafers. It consist of 3 off starters and appetizers and 2 oysters. The oysters I had were from MA and were a good balance of brine and sweet. The jalapeño spoon bread is also a must try! We shared some apps. The deviled eggs had a wild presentation. Corn bread was to die for with the butter and honey. Went with fish and chips as my main but still got to sneak a bite of my friends chicken and waffles. The fish was nicely fried. Decent portion. I also thouht the chicken and waffles were good too. My friend thought the waffle was too soft though. It lacked those crisp edges but it didn't bother me. Service was very good. Prices are on the high end but nice place to treat yourself. They do have an oyster happy hour that I would love to do one day. To me, the biggest flaw of this place is the location. Great meal. Took my group of 6 coworkers here with a last minute reservation before we walked over. They sat us right away at a round table so conversation was easy, even with the big group and a few introverts. New Orleans style chargrilled oysters, deviled eggs, Caesar salad, beet salad, fish and chips.... Then I convinced my coworkers to get one of every pie and do the take-a-bite-and-pass thing. Genius. We couldn't agree on a favorite because they were all so good, but since I love fruit I fought for the last few bites of peaches + cream and apple. My side salad / roasted potatoes was under whelming- cook on the veg was nice- I got exactly 3 halved baby potatoes. :) my husbands steak was well seasoned and cooked. Portions were solid. Left full. We didn't grab drinks or dessert. Maybe this would've changed our experience! Most important part of this review: valet is advertised on the site. There is no valet. First time patron, and I loved the atmosphere. This might be the first place in over 2 years that we could actually find a seat at the bar and enjoy a drink before our dinner reservation. I ordered a lemon drop martini, which looked great, but wasn't my favorite. I didn't like the shape of the glass as it was harder to drink from than a regular martini glass. The menu has a nice variety of entrees. The 4 of us decided to share the cornbread appetizer. It was good cornbread, but had no kick to it as described. I chose the braised short ribs for my entree as I can never resist when I see it on a menu. I was happy they let us enjoy the cornbread before they brought our entree. Food arrived nice and hot and mined looked great. The short ribs were so tender and the vegetables were very tasty. The horseradish mashed potatoes were the disappointment. Just a creamy blob with little taste, certainly not horseradish. We shared a cherry pie for dessert which was decent. Service was very good throughout our dinner. Would definitely return. read more

I was so excited to visit...so before the game tonight we decided to have a quick bite. Maybe the issue was ...we didn't order seafood?. We got seated right away, outside..we loved it. No big deal, but the flavor overall was the cambozola cheese, the meat had none. Fries were good. The grilled cheese..we weren't expecting the regular GC and we love brie and jam but the combination with the pesto, it was too much, the bread had too much butter so the flavor was butter, pesto and a sweet aftertaste. The salad that came with it, too bitter. The food i cant say it was bad or not edible..it was just below average. For my entrée, I ordered the grouper special, and it was absolutely incredible. I really hope they make it a permanent menu item because I would come back just for that dish alone. In town for my wife's birthday celebrations, I picked the Pearl because it offered a multitude of gluten-free options for food items my wife normally can't enjoy such as fried oysters and fish and chips. Moreover, we savored other normal mainstays we have had elsewhere that were very tasty such as the Old Fashioned Deviled Eggs, peel and eat Gulf Shrimp, a nd sea scallops. All of which were very delightful and brought us to a place of culinary greatness. The Chicken Wing Confit was also a high standout, tossed with Gochujang Buffalo Sauce and served with Blue Cheese Dip. The Fried Oysters made gluten free were exquisite and delectable as well as the gluten free Great Lakes Fish N Chips, which was quite filling. The Sea Scallops were also a highlight, served with Corn Purée, Roasted Tomato, and Charred Green Beans. For cocktails, I enjoyed my standard extra dirty gin martini (with Hendricks) in addition to house-created standouts like the Duke of Pearl (Old Forester, Dry Vermouth, Lemon, Earl Grey, Black Pepper) and the Bourbon, Bacon, Boozy (Fat-Washed Maker's Mark, Brown Sugar, Peychaud's Bitters, Candied Bacon). The Pearl is located downtown Tampa. Just a heads up if there's an event going on downtown, parking can get pricey. I parked in the garage paid $30 this day because the circus was in town and I didn't see the valet. The restaurant itself was really nice, and the service was good. The entrees are on the pricer side, but lots of options and everything we had tasted great. Also I think everything was gluten free! The spoon cornbread was a great starter it had jalapeños in it, which made me a little nervous about the spice, but it wasn't spicy at all. The flavor was really good, especially with the honey butter. I ordered the scallops, which were cooked well and topped with a small salad and vinaigrette. The acidity paired really nicely with the scallops and made for a great bite. That said... it's a very light dish not filling at all. They brought out the braised short ribs on a shareable plate, which was nice, but honestly, the portion sizes aren't really shareable. Your girl was still hungry. So we had to get dessert. The apple pie was served cold, which I'm personally not a fan of, so that was a miss for me. However, the brown sugar pie was delicious and definitely the better choice. I really enjoyed it! 9/10 - the n'awlins style baked oysters were fantastic, definitely recommend! they come on a bed of rich garlic herb butter, and have a cheesy, herbaceous crust. the butter really was unforgettable! We even ordered more bread to eat all of it. - the harbor salad was full of creamy chunks of avocado, lump crab, plump shrimp, bacon and sharp bright quality from the vinaigrette -- just so fresh and light. i didn't really enjoy how mushy the croutons became, but otherwise it was delicious. read more

We've actually been here twice, so I'm combining both visits into one review. The first time was in June 2024 for a sendoff brunch for our friend. While we honestly can't remember exactly what we ordered, I do remember that everything was good -- just not particularly memorable at the time. Fast forward to our second visit, and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious and much more memorable this time around, the service was excellent, and the decor is fun and inviting. The menu is ever-changing, so even though the space felt familiar, it still felt like a brand-new experience. I've heard many great things about The Pearl and my expectations were exceeded! My friend and I shared the smoked salmon and biscuit donuts, SO GOOD! This is some of the best salmon I've had in the Tampa Bay Area, it was savory and fresh. I especially liked the scallion aioli that it came with- it was packed with earthy, salty flavor- yum! The donuts were equally delicious in a different way. They were warm with powdery sugar and had a delicious, pillowy inside. The jam it was served with was sweet, but not too sweet! Came to The Pearl on a weekday and was able to catch the happy hour, which is from 2-5pm. I think the HH was $4 off signature cocktails and a couple dollars off starters and snacks as well. Firstly, I have to say that our server was absolutely amazing! Not only did she give great reccos, I was in a chatty mood and she answered the millions of questions that I asked about the menu eagerly! We got a bit of everything, a cup of clam chowder, half a dozen raw oysters, the jalapeño cornbread, and split the pub burger! Everything tasted amazing. The grand finale was the buckeye pie with vanilla ice cream, it was soooo good! The vibe of the place is super cute, just like everything else on Water Street, and they had their Christmas decor up, which made it feel cozy and festive Overall, I had great experience and will be back to try the dinner menu! read more

The only reason I am not giving them five stars is because the service is notoriously slow. When they were present they were amazing but it took so long to get their attention. We started with the crab deviled eggs... which were delicious but I didn't taste any crab in them. Our drinks were delicious and generous. I highly recommend the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were large and not overcooked, and the shrimp and gravy was delicious and had bold flavors. The salmon dinner was also excellent but I only got one bite of that. We did order dessert but I can't even remember what we ordered. It took so long we asked to get it to go. Although the food was great I probably wouldn't go back because of the slow service read more
