Food quality is about the same but they screw up your orders. For example, I ordered Ramen and they served it to me without a spoon. The egg in the ramen was pathetic. It was hard boiled instead of soft boiled. It had not been marinated in tamari and mirin (etc) long enough to darken the yolk. The plate of Singapore chow mein has changed to include cilantro which we requested to leave off, plate arrived covered in cilantro. For years, the main reason I came to tin drum was to get their Thai tea. They did away with it. Now they bait you with cafe du monde cans on every table but no coffee available. Bottle drinks are $2.95. Place is loud and echoes. The person taking orders does not acknowledge you. We thought for a minute we just had to put an order in on the screen that was looking towards the customers (us and the 6 people behind us). We started tapping the screen since the person behind it was clearly not capable of interacting with us, he turned the screen off on us. Yeah, I may try another location of Tin Drum to see if they had their tasty Thai tea but I won't be back to this one. read more

I really like the Hong Kong chicken with rice. It's always so crispy and seasoned so well. It's so delicious. And costs around $15. A little bit pricey but I'm ok with it since it's stayed consistent throughout the years. They aren't a boba shop so it's not that great but it's also an option if you're interested in that. read more

My husband has purchased from here before, but this time I went. I had downloaded the app and received a free drink. So we ordered. I ordered Orange Chicken with White Rice. For my free drink, the server Andrea A. assisted me with selecting a Boboa Fruit Tea mixed with Black Tea with Strawberry and Mango Syrup and Strawberry pearls. Despite being a chain, this was my first time visiting one of these locations. This location was a bit difficult to access since it's in the Collection at Forsyth. There were no spots near the restaurant when I went so we parked near the movie theater and walked over. It was pretty busy inside as well. We placed our orders and it took maybe 15-20 minutes to receive our food. I ordered the Phuket woon sen and it was very tasty. For the price ($10.50 + $1.50 for protein) you get a decent portion but probably not enough for leftovers. My only complaint was that I ordered grilled chicken with my meal and my friend got fried chicken for the same dish. The price to add chicken was the same ($1.50) but if you ordered fried chicken you got a lot larger portion. I would say the dish had double the amount of fried chicken than grilled chicken. read more

Confession time - my husband and I go here weekly. We truly love it that much! Typically, we'll either do date night here and eat inside and then walk across the street for a movie at AMC, or we'll get takeout/delivery. We've had great experiences in all three situations, and probably get takeout most often. Their service is always quick and everyone behind the counter clearly works as a team and helps each other out. They do have limited seating on a busy day/night, but we've never run into the issue of not finding a table (it's usually just two of us though). My top three favorite dishes are the Chicken Lettuce Wraps, the Citrus Pad Thai, and the Chinatown Lo Mein. I get a cup (sometimes a bowl) of the Thai coconut soup (tom kha gai) every.single.time. It's my absolute favorite - especially in winter. Their recipe just hits it out of the ballpark and makes my tastebuds dance and sing! I'm a huge fan of Tin Drum! I was sad the Johns Creek location closed. I make the trek to Cumming just to visit this Tin Drum location. Service and food quality has been consistently great here which I appreciate so much. The portions are good too. They also do a nice job from order time to when your food is ready. I love how it's made on the spot too and ingredients are fresh. Make sure to check your order before you leave if you're ordering to go. We frequently end up with chopped green onions on orders where we specified no green onions. Today both of the items we ordered were not correct. One that shouldn't have had chopped greens onions did. One that should have had double fried tofu had none. Before I get into my rant, let me preface this, I do really like this place. I come here with my friends all the time and I personally love it. Other than this time. I ordered tonkotsu ramen which is fine, but there was one thing missing. One crucial element to the beloved tonkotsu ramen. The tonkotsu ramen consists of many beautifully crafted elements from the delicious broth down to the char-shu pork (if that's what you order). There's so many elements and flavors to this ramen it's unbelievable. But when this one ingredient is missing, it ruins the whole dish. That ingredient, is the soy egg. This egg, while simple, inflates this meal from a cheap flavorless ramen into the most perfect bowl of ramen you could have in Cumming, GA. I came here with 4 of my friends (so 5 in total), and we all ordered either tonkotsu ramen or bangin' miso ramen. As the ramen rolled out hot and fresh from the kitchen, we were all joyous to dine in. Sweat dripping from as our saliva piled up in our mouths. This was the moment we were all waiting on, time to feast! (or so we thought...) 2 of the 5 bowls didn't have the beloved soy egg. Meal destroyed. Day ruined. Never, and I mean never, coming back here again. EVER! A bowl of ramen without an egg is like the NYC skyline after 9/11. Something's just missing. Though I'd like to say this is a pretty average Americanized "Asian" food place, I find this location underwhelming in comparison to its other locations. The food came out unusually fast, and that was an intentional use of the word "unusual." The food tasted like a meal I would try to cook at home for myself for the first time and purposefully not share. The spices felt unbalanced and the cooking process felt accidental. DISHES: we ordered special curry dish as well as the Singapore noodles with tofu. There wasn't great depth of flavor in either, and the tofu was a bit overcooked and reminded me of the dishes I used to eat that made me question returning to eat the soy product again. SERVICE: It was unmemorable at most. Like many order-at-the-counter spots, the initial order is the only time for any interaction with staff. The person that took our order was polite enough, yet not particularly cheery or helpful on the customer service front. ENVIRONMENT: Tin Drum locations have this metallic, industrial vibe to them, but I find that even the Georgia Tech location masters it better. It seemed cold in temperature and the chairs were resultantly uncomfortable. There was an odd smell that wasn't inviting to come and eat. The place was clean enough, but not a place I'm thinking of returning, especially given the number of surrounding restaurants in the Collection. read more

I came here because one of my friends loves this place and was craving asian food. When I walked in, I saw that they have a few asian snacks like bags hi-chews. As a huge fan of pad thai, I had to try theirs. Like any other place, you choose your choice of protein which determines the price of the food. I chose the sautéed chicken, which was flavorful and amazing!! The pad thai was very citrusy, which is perfect for me, however, there wasn't enough meat in it. I got like 5 pieces of chicken and that was it. The portion of the food was perfect, and filled me up the right amount. There are no fountain drinks, but they have bottled drinks and bubble tea. I saw that a lot of people get their bubble tea, but I stuck with their bottle drinks. Try the bottled mango peach (or orange... cant remember) tea!! Service was decent. This really is a great concept but the taste and quality is just not even worth one star. 4 food orders at the same table came out pretty much cold. Tofu in one dish was solid cold borderline frozen with the rest of the food luke warm. The bubble tea...terrible....undrinkable. Asked for a new bubble tea as the one received tasted like old sour milk and was told no sorry we can't do that, you have to order a new one. We were told only a manager could approve a potential remake but probably wouldn't do it either. When asked for the manager we were told there was no manager on site. The place is run by teenagers who can't prepare the food at proper temperatures, cant use the bubble tea wrapping machine, can't handle issues and doesn't appear trained to handle complaints. For the same price paid for a lunch order, we will go to a quality that restaurant and get truly good food prepared at safe temperatures. read more

When we don't feel like cooking and want something quick, flavorful, and fairly priced we go to Tin Drum! We've tried just about everything on the menu: stir fry, curries, noodles, soups, and apps. Lately, I've been ordering from their vegetarian menu, which has a pretty decent selection. They don't offer many if any vegan options. Hopefully they will in the near future. It's a good place for affordable Thai food! They removed my favorite menu item massaman but i tried the Bangkok sweet curry chili which was good! Lots of spinach in the bowl so I got my veggies for the day! It was ~ 10$ per curry bowl. Also- if you get their app they give you a weekly free reward so I got the fries for free! I have been eating at Tim Drum for over 10 years. Service has always been great and consistent. The inside decor can be upgraded a bit as it has been same for over 10 years as well. The cumming location has the least quantity of food out of all locations I have tried (John's Creek and Dunwoody) and it's getting even smaller with each passing day. Not a bad option if you're in the area doing some shopping and seriously craving some flavorful Asian food. I like the different options they have and they seem to be very creative and packing a punch (if you so desire). My criticism comes in the freshness. The past two times I visited I waited for my food expecting that, since I'm waiting, I'm getting some fresh dishes. What I got instead looked (and tasted) as though it had been scraped from the bottom of the barrel. It wasn't horrible, but also wasn't great.
