Service was okay, but the food was amazing: my son and daughter both ordered ramen, I decided on Red Curry, which was amazing. My daughter complained that her ramen was bland, but my son enjoyed his tremendously. His Ramen had a miso base, my daughter had a black bean base. My taste buds were singing with my red curry, which I hadn't had in a while. Decent parking, but getting in and out off the main road is difficult. First time trying Ramen at a restaurant. It was underwhelming. Noodles in unseasoned unsalted broth/water. I don't eat soft yolk eggs, so I asked for a hard boiled egg. He told me they could not do that as they already cooked the eggs and just slice them. I told him it doesn't take long to boil an egg. Red flag #1. I ordered the chicken ramen. It was way too bland. When I asked for something to spice it up he offered the hot sauce with the rooster. I declined and asked for something else he got the hot chili oil. I also got the salad with the ginger carrot dressing. It was very fresh and delish. I got the fried angus dumplings. I couldn't eat them. It was a chunk of unseasoned meat inside the fried wrapper. Even dipping in the sauce didn't help. I wouldn't go back again, the $2-3 ramen cups at the grocery store are WAY better. read more

I recently visited Volcano and found them to be under new management. While the staff was still very attentive and friendly, there were some obvious changes that will change our routine of frequent visits wach month to finding a new spot for Asian cuisine. We frequently go to Volcano so we often rotate between the options. Thursday we found that the menu has been revamped - Thai dishes are gone, there's a limited selection of Chinese dishes, and they've added ramen to the offerings. Unfortunately every dish was drenched in sauce, which overshadowed the flavors. Even though I ask for extra spicy, my chicken and broccoli lacked seasoning. My husband's teriyaki was overly sweet. Even the salad own had a puddle of watery dressing. Often when we go I would enjoy a pomegranate martini and my husband warm saki. They also no longer serve liquor, so my martini was off the table and I wasn't in the mood for any of the newly limited choices of wine and beer. I decided to get a club soda which turned out to be $4. Overall, the experience was a bit disappointing compared to what it used to be. We prefer to support local so I hope they work out the kinks on what menu items need more attention and what customers come in for. read more

The sushi roll we ordered was delicious and the shrimp basil fried rice was good...just the right amount of spice but was not seasoned enough...but I was in Alpharetta so not taking away for the lack of seasoning . I will say that the waitstaff is not very friendly when you come in but eventually warm up...just remember to smile and be patient. They told me I couldn't eat there and I had to take it to go and then wouldn't give me the buy one get one free cause it was to go I didn't choose to take it to go. Our family decided to branch out tonight and try a new spot. This restaurant is located off Windward Parkway in Alpharetta. There was plenty of parking and we were immediately seated upon arrival- even though the restaurant was full and bustling. There are lots of tables that could have seated a large party. The menu included options for Chinese, Japanese, and Thai. We opted for a combo of standard American Chinese Dishes- honey chicken was flavorful and sweet, chicken teriyaki, kung pao all enjoyed. The sushi rolls we tried were great- pink lady has a sweet flavor and we do love soy paper rolls, plus a standard tempura. The sushi rice and components were apparently cooked at least couple of days ago and the cook just rolled and served. It tasted really the worst I've ever had; no wonder there weren't many customers. Also the menu's material was too cheap and the plates were broken at the edges! I felt as if they were humiliating us on purpose. Decided to try this spot out while in the area of Alpharetta. Upon walking inside it's kind of hard to see especially if it's during the day time and it's sunny outside because the interior lighting is VERY dark. The menu showcases have a variety of rolls And I decided to go with something different. I ordered the filet mignon roll which was absolutely delicious and a pleasant surprise! Daughter had the cream cheese shrimp tempura roll and said the crunch was to die for! However, the miso soup was under seasoned. There were hand sanitizers on each table which was a nice touch during this pandemic season. Unfortunately, we had an unwanted guest try to accompany us while we dined. It was a dead bumble bee and I had to point it out to the staff which is why I had to remove one star. Volcano is our go-to spot when we want Asian food. We've been in Alpharetta about ~6 yrs. now and we found them early on and they've yet to let us down. And we've tried other options - which Alpharetta has no shortage of. Always fresh, hot and tasty. Fair prices and portion sizes don't make you feel cheated. I had enough for leftovers to eat the next day. It seems the younger generations have learned they have options. More options than I could have ever imagined while coming into my "adulthood". And with that, the service industry needs to learn to treat their people better (and customers too!). Until they do, poor treatment of your employees will likely lead to bad reviews and loss business. The few places we're still able to get good service from seem to have gotten the message. read more

We go here frequently when they have the 50% off Sushi. Me and my brother love sushi while my mom doesn't so it's nice to that the entire menu is not just sushi. Sigh where to start.. To be fair we ordered delivery through Uber eats so I have no idea if dining in may have fared better. Our sushi we ordered (3 special rolls for $17-18 each plus California roll and 1 maki were crammed into 2 small containers. The photo is deceiving and looks bigger than it is (the smaller container is the size of a napkin 6x4"). They were stuffed so tight that the rice was smushed together into one lump of rice. The pricey "special rolls" were the size of a $7 maki - photo attached for size reference. There was also a sushi roll with shredded cheese sprinkled over it which we did not order due to dairy allergy for half the group. Because we were hungry we did start to eat the rolls until my mother came by and noticed the color of the tuna and told us to stop eating it. Instead of a reddish color she noticed it was grayish and did not look fresh - she has owned multiple Japanese/sushi restaurants and knows her fish. The $28 Chirashi was crammed into the smaller size container including the small bed of rice under the fish (we've never had a portion this tiny for this dish and we order it frequently). The general tso's prawn and crispy chicken were separated from the sauces which is normally a good thing but if you don't ventilate the hot fried food containers it becomes very very soggy. Rookie error for a restaurant. We order Japanese frequently and have never had an order so completely butchered for over priced food before. Would not have even bothered to leave a review if it wasn't for the bad fish because now it's a health concern (praying we don't get sick). Do yourself a favor and don't order take out from here. We would have been much happier and fuller ordering from sarku or a fast food Japanese spot instead. read more

I was searching around for sushi to get for my husband and recognized Volcano Asian Bistro from all the times we have driven by it. We decided it was time to finally give them a try. I called to order after browsing the menu online and our food was ready to be picked up in 15 minutes. There is plenty of parking right in front of the restaurant so pick up was really easy. We planned on ordering just one soup and one sushi roll (who were we kidding?) and ended up ordering the following: Super Volcano Roll ($19.95) Snow White Roll ($14.50) Wonton Soup ($2.99) Hot and Sour Soup ($2.99) House Special Fried Rice ($11.99) Pork Lo Mein ($10.99) General Tso's Chicken with Fried Rice ($12.99) I do not eat sushi, but my husband really enjoyed both rolls. Of the two, he said the Super Volcano Roll was much heavier. They were both served hot with chopsticks and soy sauce. He thoroughly enjoyed the options he went for. The fried rice and lo mein were both tasty. Lots of protein in both. The pork in the pork lo mein was not the roast pork like I was expecting, but was still good. The dishes were familiar enough like what would be expected from a standard chinese take out restaurant, but seemed to be a bit elevated with ingredients and overall feel. We enjoyed these. The general tso's chicken was amazing in terms of the flavor, but the chicken was so heavily breaded it tasted almost like big balls of breading and was extremely dense. That said, I wanted to like the chicken more than I did. This was our first time so I am not sure if this is standard for the chicken. The soups were hit and miss, and came with the little bags of crisp wonton strips. The wonton soup had 2 wontons in it which seemed like too few, but the flavor of the wontons was nice. The broth in the wonton soup was really bland. The hot and sour soup was really good, one of the better ones I have had. I would get the hot and sour soup again in a heart beat, but would skip the wonton soup next time. This is a pricier option for asian food, but I like being able to order sushi and chinese food in one go. There are options for Japanese, Chinese, & Thai on the menu so you are sure to find something for everyone. Overall we were satisfied with the food and would order there again. There are tons of other items we are excited to try. Definitely give them a try. read more

I had the WORST customer service experience with the restaurant. I get sesame tofu when I eat there but it is never listed as an option on UberEats. I've been told by this place in the past to just choose Sesame Chicken and, in the special instructions box, ask them to use tofu instead. I have done that in the past and it was never an issue - they always gave me tofu as specified. Last night I did it and got chicken. I can't eat meat, so it isn't something I could just deal with and eat instead. I called the restaurant to try to get it rectified and the guy who answered the phone immediately was giving me an attitude. He was talking over me, wouldn't let me explain the issue or ask questions, etc etc. Eventually I was like "can you let me speak?" And after I said what happened he said, "Are you done?" And ultimately wouldn't refund or fix the issue because he said the special instructions no longer show on the tickets (1. i ordered it how I have been told in the past by the staff to order it, 2. It not showing on their end anymore isn't my fault or error so I shouldn't be paying the price, 3. Why put a special instructions box if you can't see what the person writes in it?, 4. I have done it a few times in the past and always get tofu so clearly they do see the special instructions, 5. If they switched to a system that no longer shows the instructions, again, that wouldn't be my error so they should refund it because how are consumers supposed to just magically know that what they put doesn't show up on their tickets anymore?) So I waited an hour and spent all this money just to be served food I couldn't eat and be given attitude. I used to really like this place and they used to be very nice - I don't know if they switched staff since I last went or what but the way the guy spoke to me and handled the conversation makes me not wanna order from them or eat there again. read more

By far the best chinese place i have been to in metro Atlanta. Way better than the surrouding chinese places in Alpharetta. Great ambience, neat and fast service! I have called them for a pickup order. They have different options (with respective to quantity) for lunch and are also flexible with providing noodles/rice items on a single order. I have ordered Chicken lo mein, which came with a salad and asian dressing. I was asked if i want fried rice along with it for no extra cost. Let me tell you the chicken lo mein was the best i had in Atlanta area. The meat is perfectly cooked and the noodles are not too oily but at the same time leaving that little gravy at the bottom to enchance flavor. (Most places have dry lomein). Prices are decent for restaurant quality service. Would definetly go back and dine in sometime to try out their most talked about sushi!! read more

This place is delicious. If you're thinking of coming here, stop thinking. Get in your car and go! I ordered spring rolls, Mongolian beef with steamed rice, and the shrimp tempura roll. I also ordered the green tea ice cream for dessert. The spring rolls were nothing that special honestly but it was definitely fresh. And my friend and I had gotten to the restaurant a few hours before closing. That's one thing I was so impressed with- the freshness of every dish. Mongolian beef was phenomenal. Sweet and savory and not chewy at all. It literally melted in my mouth. I will dream about it all week. The tempura shrimp roll was very very yummy. Fresh, light and simple. Wonderful balance of flavors in the roll. And for all of you spicy mayo lovers like myself, I promise you it wasn't even necessary!
