We went here for lunch. I ordered Spicy Mango Chicken for $12. Average price. I was disappointed that it was not spicy to the level I expected. However the chicken is cooked to perfection-crispy, juicy, and flavorful. The peppers and mangoes add sweetness to the dish. Rice is alright-too dry for me. I have been to Pearl Lian quite a few times over the course of the past 10+ years, and it has been great every single time. This time around, we went for my mother-in-law's birthday. There were about 12 of us, so a bigger party. We got seated in the back at a nice table pretty quickly. The server did an excellent and efficient job at getting all of our food and drink orders in. She was attentive throughout our entire dinner and got our food out pretty quickly. Some dishes took a lot longer than normal for some reason, but it eventually got to the table. Our table got a few appetizers to share like the spring rolls and crab Rangoon. Both tasted really good! Me and my wife shared the cucumber salad and hot and sour soup. I am not the biggest fan of cucumber salad, but my wife is. It was still pretty good! My soup was great! Flavorful and HOT. For our main dishes, I got the chicken and broccoli, and my wife got the Panang curry with chicken. Both tasted SO GOOD. The portions were also pretty big too, we had quite a bit to take home after. Pearl Lian is located in a shopping center, so there is plenty of parking. The ambiance is very nice inside too. Not too casual, but not too formal, the perfect place for a date night or a special occasion. I would come back here again, no doubt about it! read more

Although the establishment has gone through changes in personnel, the basics remain the same - really nice Asian ambiance and abundant menu options. Pricing might be a tad on the high side, but the food is genuine Asian cuisine. It's so good. What was once the best Asian restaurant in Johns Creek is now just average at best. Last order the Mongolian Beef was overcooked. There was chaos at the front end. Four people were waiting at least 15 minutes including me. My order was 40 minutes late. It appears the person taking phone or internet orders was not sending them to the kitchen. Their spicy tuna roll used to be fantastic. That night it tasted fishy and was bland. The last order was short on my sushi. Again I think it was the person at the front end that messed it up. She seems incompetent and oblivious and needs to be replaced. To the owners, please fix these problems. You used to be my favorite Asian restaurant. read more

I had ginger shrimp and she had spring rolls and a basil salad roll. The spring roll was not greasy and she also had a lemon martini which was amazing! We were impressed. We came on a strong recommendation from a local business. We needed a place to grab lunch as take out. So this review is only based on 2 dishes. The Pad Thai was standard, except it lacked flavor. We asked for extra vegetables, but they must not have read the note. We also got a Moo Shu vegetable dish. Again, the base dish was bland. Most of the vegetables were bamboo shoots. We poured plum sauce on it, but it was not very good. When I order Mu Shu at other places, it is yummy and tasty with a lot of umami feeling. Not here. We threw most of the meal away. And it was on the expensive side. Maybe it's just the vegetarian food that is lacking. We did not order dishes with meat. Or sushi. We were a party of 18 in a separate room. The food was delivered to the table very slowly. From first dish to last dish took 30 minutes. I had the house special low mein. It had a great taste but was very oily. A family member had the tuna and ordered it medium done but it came out very rare. My son had the sweet and sour chicken which was very good. This place is decorated beautifully. Lovely ambiance and so much to see. The food was good- it was a taste you would expect. My husband loves Asian food so he loved this spot, but I felt like I was missing something with the food. I had the tofu lemongrass soup and wasn't a fan of the tofu, but the broth had good flavor. I also had sushi which is good. My friends had two of the meat entrees which they absolutely loved. I tried it but it just wasn't doing it for me. Just came in for Christmas dinner - our reservation was for 5pm & we were asked to pre-order our meal before arriving. Three of four meals came out...we waited & waited for the seafood noodles to arrive. We checked with waitress and were told "it takes longer than the other meals". Ten more minutes goes by & all meals are eaten before the seafood finally showed up. My husband takes 2 bites & realizes the seafood was raw!! Grey raw shrimp & undercooked squid - he bolts from the table & vomits in the restroom. We alert the waitress who gets the manager only to be asked what he should do about it?! As the manager, if you see a plate of grey shrimp your only move is to apologize profusely & refund the dinner. That did not happen, the plate was whisked away & our check arrived with no apology. My husband barely makes it to the parking lot before the dry heaving started up again!! I get my kids into the car & phone the restaurant- the manager aggressively tells me to go to the hospital if my husband is sick & take it up with my insurance- he was rude, unapologetic & although admitted the seafood platter was removed from bill because "it was bad" he continued to insult me by insisting I call the police if I have an issue or want the meal refunded?! We will never come here again, it has been our tradition for many years to dine here on Christmas night but never again. Serving food that way & verbally attacking a female customer over the phone before hanging up is UNACCEPTABLE. My only regret is that the plate of food was removed before I could snap a photo. read more

Pearl Lian has decent food....better than average, but not fantastic. I'd say 3.5 stars but not good enough to round up to 4. The atmosphere is nice....better than a typical dive Chinese restaurant in a strip mall. The General Tso's chicken was actually pretty good, but the other dishes we tried were underwhelming. Don't come here for Thai food - go to Bai Tong or Thai Basil for that. Their Chinese is pretty decent. The restaurant was also eerily quite. I felt that I had to continually lower my voice so the other patrons weren't listening to my every word. The service was good, the food came out fast. Unfortunately there are too many other good places to eat in the area, I probably won't be back. read more

I'll first say I've been coming here since 2007 before John's Creek was even a city. Today, on my daughters birthday, we came to eat. I called first and was told to come on over they are open until 10. We arrive and then we were told they said come after 8. I politely said no that's not what we were told. So we were then seated. I'm absolutely flabbergasted after waiting 1hr for our entrées they had not even began to prepare them. After mentioning we were the only black family that had been seated and in the restaurant and still waiting on food although we ordered prior to the other 3 booths of white couples that had all gotten there food. He offered half price to get my food out in 5 minutes. WHAT?!? It's my daughters birthday and now we have no where else to go bc it's Christmas Eve. I will never come here again and wouldn't recommend it to any of my local friends and family. EVER....being black shouldn't be so exhausting. read more

We ordered the Coconut Crusted Shrimp as an appetizer and if you're a fan of coconut, you'll enjoy this a lot! It has the right amount of flakes and crunchiness that makes it super good. I shared the Mongolian Triple with my boyfriend. The plate is pretty small but it's actually filling. It comes with steak, chicken, and shrimp. Pearl Lian is an Asian restaurant that serves sushi, Chinese, and Thai cuisine. This review is only for their Thai dishes, which were definitely mediocre. Massaman Curry- Granted, this is a complex dish that even many Thai restaurants can't pull off, but theirs was nothing special. The flavor was bland and the avocado was over-ripe and slightly black. Drunken Noodles- Definitely not one of the better versions we've tried. The flavor was off, and was slightly on the sweeter end. The fried tofu wasn't bad though. Thai Fried Rice- This fried rice was lacking flavor as well, and had more of a Chinese flavor to it than a Thai flavor. On the bright side, if you order pick-up online, they offer coupons for free food (free soup if you spend $30, free Cali roll if you spend $40, etc). I'd be willing to come back to try the sushi or Chinese dishes, but for Thai, I'd definitely rather go elsewhere. read more
