Enjoying beef koobideh, chicken and pomegranate rice and roasted jalapeño with fire roasted tomatoes!
Emely M.

So much more than a food truck! The food is always fresh and delicious! So good we asked about catering a luncheon and they did not disappoint! The food was ready and a good amount of food. A must order is their Pistachio Tiramisu to finish the meal! The taste buds will be bursting. We ordered their beef koobideh and chicken with pomegranate saffron rice!

Amazing Persian food with incredible service. Portions were great, and the Saffron lemonade was delicious. Definitely recommend

Great food, and a very good price. Always nervous going to a new food truck, but totally worth it. Get the dessert

Authentic and flavourful…read more Service and atmosphere: Our server was polite, friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and very well designed and decorated. It had great Persian vibe including music played. Food and drinks: Very good selection of traditional dishes that were not westernised as in other Persian restaurants. The food was fresh, well seasoned and was full of flavours. The meats were moist, salad and starter tasted fresh. Pinch of sumac which was available on each table was a perfect addition to our dishes. Highly recommend hot Persian tea. Pricing: $$ - very affordable for the quality and quantity of foods received.

However, we were charged for it at the end. I understand the charge itself, but no one at the table had ordered it; they just set it on the table. It would have been nice if the staff had made it clear or asked if we wanted to add it to our meal. Perhaps there was a mix up with another table. Our experience was otherwise great, but double check the menu for what is complimentary and what isn't.

As busy as they were, we had 3 managers stop by to ask how we were doing. - Food was awesome. I don't even know what we ordered since we had a native Persian friend that ordered for us. All I can say that the kebab, soltani, lamb ribs, and Persian ice cream, were amazing. - Modern, clean ambiance. Bad: - Gets crowded during busy the weekends. Reservation is needed. - This place will get you fat. Other: Complimentary valet. Overall: I will be going back soon.

The place is new but not recently new, so I was impress that they were still attracting a crowd. The place was packed and busy but the host was still able to seat us immediately. With reservation, of course. Our seat was a banquet seating and when the host directed us to our table, we notice the party seated next to our table had placed all their personal belongings on our seats. We had to ask the host to ask them to remove their personals so that we can sit down. I felt that the host should have done that and not upon our request. Our server was Keamogetswe and she jumped right into explaining the menu since it was our first time. I am used to ordering drinks first and while waiting for our drinks, explore the food menu. That way, we can ask questions about any item we were unfamiliar with on the menu. Anyways, we ordered our food and they came out very fast. For starters, we had the grilled shrimp which was just two shrimps. They were not prawns so the size of the two shrimps for $18 was not worth it to me. We also tried the Rumi's wings. They were average to me. Nothing to brag about. For the main course, we wanted to try several dishes and settle for a family style meal. We had the braised lamb shank, chicken kabob and the Koobideh Kabob. Since all plates came with rice, Keamogetswe suggest we try different rice options which was a great suggestion. So for the rice, we had the Adas, the Baghali and the Shirin. I have to admit that the braised lamb was amazing. The stew it sat in was very flavorful and the meat melted off the bone it came with. The Koobideh was also another favorite of mine. Both, I highly recommend everyone to try. And my favorite rice was the Shirin. As we moved on to dessert, we had the burnt honey & pistachio cake and the persian ice cream sandwich. Both taste great but the persian ice cream sandwich itself was vanilla wafer. Different but it made it easier to eat with your fingers. The weird thing was when the dessert was served to us, so was the check. I am used to us eating dessert or just starting to enjoy dessert before being handed the check. And when they do hand me the check, they would mention that it was no rush and when I am ready to take care of it. But that didn't happen and I decided to get it out of the way so I can just enjoy the dessert. As we were conversing and finishing our drinks, they started to clear our table and even picked up the signed check or tab. It felt like they were hinting us to get up. I feel that if there was a time frame to dine with them, they should have made us aware of it before dinner or when we made reservation like how Toca Madera does. So that made me feel uncomfortable. But this could just be me.

Their cherry rice is just top tier here and it goes so well. I had never had cherry rice before coming here and I'm hooked!. From the pictures you can see its quite a generous portions of rice so you'll be pretty full by the end of it. Kabobs beef/chicken, always extremely fresh, juicy, and rich in flavor. Hummus with the complimentary naan goes so well together I've came back year after years and am happy to report that their quality has remained the same. It's the kind of spot that works just as well for a casual dinner as it does for a relaxed night out with friends or family. We started off with the lentil soup, which was comforting and flavorful--light yet satisfying, with a nice balance of spices. The hummus was smooth, creamy, and elevated even more by the complimentary fresh bread, which came out warm and perfectly baked--easily one of the highlights of the meal. For mains, the Koobideh Combination stole the show. The kababs were juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly, with that classic smoky flavor that makes Persian kabobs so good. Definitely the standout dish and a must-order. The Salmon & Chicken combo was equally impressive--both proteins were tender, nicely grilled, and paired beautifully with the saffron rice and grilled vegetables, giving you a great mix of flavors and textures. We also tried the Soujuk & Cheese Lahmajun, which added a nice twist to the meal. It had a crispy base with rich, savory toppings, and the cheese brought everything together really well--great for sharing. Avesta is a solid go-to for Persian cuisine in Houston. Between the quality of the kababs, fresh bread, and overall flavor, everything hit the mark. Pair that with the great atmosphere and welcoming staff, and it's definitely a place worth coming back to

Our son got the same thing. My wife loved her mix chelo kabob plate, one skewer of beef kubideh (ground beef) and one skewer of chicken kubideh (ground chicken) with rice and bread. We loved helping her finish it off. They brought us a small coffee pot and three cups with some sqvory coffee...on the house. The front of the building had a sign saying they are the oldest Persian grill in Texas...established in 1986. We can see why they've been around as long as they have, great food and service and prices. You order at the counter. They have olive oil and sumac at the counter, they made nice additions to our meals.

Thought they would bring out the food. They rang a bell and called out a number. I looked at my receipt, saw the number and told my husband that we had to pick it up. It looks like a full service restaurant, but it's not. My husband walked up to the cashier's counter, expecting the order. The cashier pointed him to the other dining area. It was just placed on top of the food case, no counter. Someone verified it was our order before he took it. I'm short and if I were picking up a bowl of their lentil soup and can't see if the soup is level, there could be a spill. The lamb shank was good, but we had to ask for the sauce that normally comes with it. She brought it. The butter was melted, so dripped over the rice easily. I guess it was too much to ask that the bread plate include feta cheese like at other Persian restaurants. I don't recommend coming in late as the bread was very hard. Dipping it in the sauce helped.
