I stopped by for lunch on a Monday afternoon. There were only two other customers at the time, so I was seated very quickly. The free hummus was okay, but the bread was not very memorable. In the future, it might be nice if they could have warm/fresh bread. I ordered the boneless chicken kebab. The chicken was seasoned and cooked nicely. The portion size and price were also reasonable. Their lunch prices are a very good value if you are in the area. I will come back in the future.

Great experience for my family's first time trying a Persian restaurant. #1 The staff is super friendly and everyone provided great service from start to finish. Secondly all the food we tried was very tasty. We have some fairly picky eaters in this group however you could not go wrong with any of the kebab dishes. The chicken/beef and shrimp dishes were all delicious. I tried the ghormeh sabzi which is like a beef stew. It had some unfamiliar ingredients for me so I'm thinking that dish is more for folks that are more used to this cuisine. The waiters were quick to refill drinks and serve more delicious bread and pita (not sure what they call it here). The hummus was super tasty- some of the best I've had. I would highly recommend trying this place and supporting the folks at this cozy location.

    Tahdigh, very crunchy

Pretty good, but not quite as good as our favorite place. Here's the breakdown: I wasn't impressed with the tahdigh. As you can see, some was overdone and some underdone. Had I known there would be a perfect, golden tahdigh cake with my meal, I would've skipped the appetizer and had something else. The plate of greens, mast khiar, and complimentary hummus were yummy. The bread was good, but not the chewy traditional Persian bread I've had elsewhere. It was more of a soft white bread. Good, but not traditional. The koobideh was excellent, as was the ribeye barg. Delicious and tender. Chicken koobideh paled in comparison. Fava rice was delicious, zeresh polo was good. We topped it all off with some strong Turkish coffee, beautifully presented, Persian tea and...the epic ending...pistachio ice cream. The perfect ending! So flavorful without being too sweet. Just shy of $100 for Valentine's dinner for 2.

Went here for lunch with a party of nine. A lovely table set up, very comfortable. Slightly loud to hear everyone at our table (loud from other patrons and the background music), but it was enjoyable to chat with those in the immediate area. The staff brought out hummus and pita chips, complimentary. They were absolutely delicious. They then brought out water. They also brought out little cups with a towelette to refresh your hands and face. It was infused with some sort of essential oil. After a bit of a wait, the waitress came around and asked if we wanted anything other than water and any appetizers. I was glad that they had brought out the hummus with chips because by this time we were all starving. I ordered the boneless chicken with white rice. The chicken was seasoned great, juicy, and simply wonderful. The rice was a little dry and at room temperature. It also came with a grilled 1/2 jalapeno (with seeds) and a 1/2 tomato. When the waitress asked if everything was okay, I had to ask for more water, and then she asked if we would like any other hot spices. Multiple people at the table agreed that the spices would be great. She never came back to the table. Price-wise, my chicken lunch was $12.99 so that was decent. The atmosphere was nice. The hummus was great. I wish the spices would've been served. The waitress did accommodate the separate checks, tableside for all of us. Parking was tight, as there are multiple restaurants in this tiny area. We had to street park (be careful and pay attention to the parking signs). Within the parking lot there were multiple spots occupied by some workers' carts...not sure why they needed all those spaces, but nonetheless.

UPDATE - holy crap! This place has turned things around!!!! I hadn't been back since we went the first time - within a few months of them opening. Service was bad, food worse. It's like a different restaurant now. Like I said in the other review I grew up in Los Angeles (Tehrangeles) where Persian food is the best. This food this time was incredible as well. Definitely 1st or 2nd best in Houston. Mast o moosir was incredible, ghormeh sabzi, kabobs. Literally everything.

Best Persian food I've had. My best friend is Persian so I've had Persian food/restaurants before and she suggested this place! We all went together and wow. The food is absolutely delicious. Starting with the classic mint with feta and walnuts. The feta is great here. The smoked eggplant dip is great as well. The tea with sugar cubes is fragrant. You MUST get the yogurt sauce/dip here. It goes absolutely amazing with your dinner. I put it on and eat it with everything, especially the rice and meat. For dinner I got the beyond beef kebab and my husband the combo rib eye and beef kebab plates. We subbed the regular rice with dill rice and it was all so amazing! Overall will definitely be back. Such amazing food and sweet people here.

Vegan veggie sandwich. Read the review.

Miri's is on my way to and from some regular destinations, and the menu has a specifically vegan section so it's been on my list to try. My visit was about 2:15p on a Sunday afternoon and oh the dozen or so indoor tables only one was occupied with a family of maybe 10 people who seemed to be Persian. The atmosphere is nice. Someone obviously spent time considering the decor, which is modern, upscale, and included orchids which from across the room appeared to be real. Despite the restaurant not being full, the staff and sole server vibrated with the energy of being overwhelmed. Although I was seated quickly, it took quite a long time for everything: to get water, to be greeted by the server, to place the order, and for the food to come out. When the server finally did come to the table, he placed a small bowl of hummus and pita chips down without any comment. This being my first time I did not know that the restaurant serves complimentary hummus. Initially I thought he was confused and simply put the hummus down on the wrong table. When he finally did come to take my order I had started asking the hostess about some of the menu items. Other than the sandwich, everything on the vegan menu comes with a good bit of rice. So I decided to try the sandwich. Salad arrived a bit later. It was simply mixed greens and four little tomatoes cut elegantly in halves dressed in a very tasty light vinaigrette. Sadly, one of my photos shows that the greens might not have been as fresh as they appeared on the top. Worse than the salad surprise, was my sandwich. The server made it a point to tell me that the owner of the restaurant had prepared my sandwich herself. It was basically lettuce and tomato with grilled squash and zucchini. As far as I could tell there was no dressing and no seasoning on the sandwich. It was very, very bland. A woman (presumably the owner) came out of the kitchen to ask me whether I needed vegan bread. I told her to bring out the bread that was best for the sandwich. This turned out to be a rather tough and chewy roll that was better to eat with a knife and fork than with the hands because every bite pushed the veggies out onto the plate. Although the french fries were obviously frozen, they were cooked to perfection and served hot and crispy. I haven't decided whether I will give Miri's Kitchen another chance. The salad surprise kind of put me off and the sandwich was just not tasty at all despite having very fresh vegetables in it. My first instinct was to give a single star because I don't recall being served a salad anywhere with rotten edges of leaves. I also considered leaving a two-star review because the sandwich was so bland. This is a very hopeful three-star review. Reading between the lines, the staff was probably short in the kitchen necessitating the owner cooking my sandwich herself. People were constantly coming into the restaurant picking up to go orders so it's quite possible then on a day when the place is fully staffed the experience might be much better.

This was our second visit. Food is wonderful, restaurant is beautiful, and staff are friendly. I wish we didn't have to drive so far, but we are glad we did!

    Rib eye Kebab

Yum!! Yum!! This place is absolutely amazing. The food is fresh and delicious! We celebrated my friend's birthday here. . The place is modern and elegant. The food was served buffet style in large beautiful serving dishes, worthy of royalty. Appetizers included hummus, fresh fruit, and other delicious dishes. Main entrees included beef rib-eye kabab, chicken koubideh kabab, basmati rice with saffron, and a fabulous fettuccine pasta with chicken and shrimp (not on the menu, but I think this was pulled from the chef's Four Seasons' background upon our previous request!!) The service was outstanding!!

In Houston visiting for the weekend.. Miri's kitchen is elegant, peaceful and chic. Before anything else, let me tell you I am in love with their serving dishes. I ordered Barg which is simply delicious. Absolutely love the tasteful presentation of the wipe at the table. This place truly represents the elegance and hospitality of persian cuisine. Loving it and recommending it. They are also masters in catering. Truly enjoyed ir

The place is new but not recently new, so I was impress that they were still attracting a crowd. The place was packed and busy but the host was still able to seat us immediately. With reservation, of course. Our seat was a banquet seating and when the host directed us to our table, we notice the party seated next to our table had placed all their personal belongings on our seats. We had to ask the host to ask them to remove their personals so that we can sit down. I felt that the host should have done that and not upon our request. Our server was Keamogetswe and she jumped right into explaining the menu since it was our first time. I am used to ordering drinks first and while waiting for our drinks, explore the food menu. That way, we can ask questions about any item we were unfamiliar with on the menu. Anyways, we ordered our food and they came out very fast. For starters, we had the grilled shrimp which was just two shrimps. They were not prawns so the size of the two shrimps for $18 was not worth it to me. We also tried the Rumi's wings. They were average to me. Nothing to brag about. For the main course, we wanted to try several dishes and settle for a family style meal. We had the braised lamb shank, chicken kabob and the Koobideh Kabob. Since all plates came with rice, Keamogetswe suggest we try different rice options which was a great suggestion. So for the rice, we had the Adas, the Baghali and the Shirin. I have to admit that the braised lamb was amazing. The stew it sat in was very flavorful and the meat melted off the bone it came with. The Koobideh was also another favorite of mine. Both, I highly recommend everyone to try. And my favorite rice was the Shirin. As we moved on to dessert, we had the burnt honey & pistachio cake and the persian ice cream sandwich. Both taste great but the persian ice cream sandwich itself was vanilla wafer. Different but it made it easier to eat with your fingers. The weird thing was when the dessert was served to us, so was the check. I am used to us eating dessert or just starting to enjoy dessert before being handed the check. And when they do hand me the check, they would mention that it was no rush and when I am ready to take care of it. But that didn't happen and I decided to get it out of the way so I can just enjoy the dessert. As we were conversing and finishing our drinks, they started to clear our table and even picked up the signed check or tab. It felt like they were hinting us to get up. I feel that if there was a time frame to dine with them, they should have made us aware of it before dinner or when we made reservation like how Toca Madera does. So that made me feel uncomfortable. But this could just be me.

It's the kind of spot that works just as well for a casual dinner as it does for a relaxed night out with friends or family. The hummus was smooth, creamy, and elevated even more by the complimentary fresh bread, which came out warm and perfectly baked--easily one of the highlights of the meal. For mains, the Koobideh Combination stole the show. The kababs were juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly, with that classic smoky flavor that makes Persian kabobs so good. Definitely the standout dish and a must-order. The Salmon & Chicken combo was equally impressive--both proteins were tender, nicely grilled, and paired beautifully with the saffron rice and grilled vegetables, giving you a great mix of flavors and textures. We also tried the Soujuk & Cheese Lahmajun, which added a nice twist to the meal. It had a crispy base with rich, savory toppings, and the cheese brought everything together really well--great for sharing. Avesta is a solid go-to for Persian cuisine in Houston. I looked at my receipt, saw the number and told my husband that we had to pick it up. It looks like a full service restaurant, but it's not. Dipping it in the sauce helped.
