    Chicken Tikka masala
    Sindhu I.

We ordered takeout from here one night. We got naan, saffron rice, chicken Tikka masala and paneer Tikka masala. I can't speak to the interior or service given that it was takeout. The naan was quite flavorful and warm. The curries were just ok - pieces of chicken were a bit tough and the sauce felt underdeveloped / flavored. The paneer pieces were a bit skimpy, and the sauce was ok.

First time trying Indian food and I have to say it was SOOOOO good! I'm glad we had our first experience here because the food was absolutely amazing. We will definitely be coming back because on top of good food they have good service.

We've eaten here many times since they moved to this location. They offer a tasty lunch menu that comes with a lot of goodies, green salad, rice, kheer, nan, sag paneer, dal maharani, it's like a mini buffet on a plate. You can also order off the regular menu.

I stop by for lunch! The atmosphere, the workers, the plate portion, everything was absolutely amazing! The food was so good!

The food here is delicious! Started with the tamater shorba soup which was medium spicy and really good, the best I've had. Ordered a chicken dish named Murgh Tikka Malai a wonderful chicken dish served over onions on a sizzling platter. (So many great meat choices to choose from!) And finally a vegetarian okra dish called Bhindi-do-piaza which I order every visit. All served with rice and Naan bread. Great food. Also at lunch they offer a very reasonable lunch special which includes about six items per serving. Again, many lunch choices! Friendly staff and very accommodating.

Don't try to order online because their website is not useable. So, instead of ordering online, we had to go to the restaurant.

Several different street food options or bowl options for an authentic experience. Unfortunately I didn't realize the burger came with fries and I additionally ordered loaded tikka masala fries so instead of it being a replacement for the fries with a burger I just had two huge orders of fries. Seemed like something that the person taking the order could've mentioned before I ordered it. Also had the lamb baryani, tikka masala and garlic naan. This was amazing! Tasted so good. Deep in flavor and of course spices The naan was amazing And everything came out really hot! You can smell the flavors and the spices when you walked into the restaurant. Decor is impressive and luxurious; there is a business casual dress code to be aware of before you arrive. Service was good but on the slower end. Food was lovely and flavorful, but I've had more enjoyable Indian food at lower price points, ambiance aside. Overall, the atmosphere wowed me more than the food. Foie gras, lamb leg vindaloo, and navrattan korma were tasty, though I wish there was a little more paneer in my korma. Lasooni (garlic naan) had excellent garlic flavor but is a little on the crispier end, just not my personal preference. Also had to try Kiran's bread (goat cheese and rosemary) which was great in small quantities, but the flavor overpowered the rest of the meal for me with more than one piece. I may not necessarily go out of my way to come back for myself, but this is still a great place for special date nights or to impress visitors. - Ambiance: 5/5 - Food: 3/5 - Service: 4/5

Their longevity (#1) of a near half century is nothing short of impressive, earning a nostalgic place in the hearts of many Houston diners, a good number of whom trace their first Indian cuisine experiences at this very location. While I do wish their success, it's hard not to point out minor mishaps in different aspects of the overall restaurant experience, which include: :: Awkward stares from the staff as they hover or stand in the middle of the room. It's understandable that they're monitoring to help where needed, but even then I will have to flag them down for water, napkins, or the bill. :: Buffet maintenance. They're semi-quick to replenish, but extremely slow at maintaining the cleanliness. Splatter from the daal makhani, a serving spoon not returned to the same serving tray, or even customers forgetting to close the bins at the dessert station (#2) could all be mitigated by a designated person keeping it tidy. :: Food quality. The tandoori chicken has been dry, the saag paneer could be creamier, and chicken tikka masala has had their bland days. Even the naan can be a bit too dry at times. Thankfully I've fared better with the chana masala and paneer makhani. I would also steer clear of their fruit punch. :: Decor is dark and dated. It still reminds me of a place that is stuck in time, which for most experiences are usually my favorite. The natural lighting during lunch alleviates this slightly, but the dinner hour makes this place feel like eating in an older hotel lobby. The vibes are most definitely challenging. :: Foodflation. Another price hike in the last year brings the buffet price to just under $22. While it's a nice jump from what it was previously, it does leave me wishing for more, especially when the prices keep climbing. ___________ (#1) 46 years. The lychee ceviche I was looking forward to was underwhelming. More beautiful than tasty, which the dessert suffered the same fate. The soccer ball was photogenic but it should be both with the level of sophistication in taste they acquire in their craft. It was reminiscent of a Cadbury egg. Just the peaches and the chocolate were unimpressive and not complimentary of each other. The tuna papad was amazing. Some subtle hints of aromatic Indian flavors and and sweetness. The contrast of crisp and soft and presented well. That's how I expected each dish. The rizala was creamy but not exciting with bold flavors like I was hoping. The lamb was inconsistent. One of them was tough and texture/taste off. The rest were tender but not flavorful enough in seasoning. Tried a new naan. Nimbu it was ok but too thin for naan and the lemon essence didn't really spread well across. Mango pina colada was nice. Quite disappointing for $220 though. Possible I just ordered terribly. The chef tasting menu didn't look appetizing or sound very Indian so I ordered à la cart.

Not quite sure what to expect, I was pleased to see that it's completely plant-based including the pastries and no extra plus charge for alternative milks (praise!) I ended up ordering their pistachio latte which had a really rich, bold espresso note and a sweet cardamom finish at the bottom of the cup. I would definitely get this again but might try to stir it before drinking for a more even flavor distribution. In terms of the setting, there's lots of small tables and couches to work and study with either a small group or alone. They also have a back patio with additional seating, board games, and even a printer which can be hard to find in this day and age. Overall the vibe is relaxed and casual. Finally, while I had to wait about 30 minutes to order and receive my drink, I had some time to watch their workflow and would offer some suggestions for improvement to speed up their service. The staff all clearly put a lot of care into preparing each drink and were doing the best they could to move quickly, but the layout of the back counter area is fairly inefficient. To start, the ice well for cold drinks is on the complete opposite side of the register away from their espresso machines. This added a lot of steps for the staff to prepare iced coffee drinks. Secondly, the straws were also quite a reach for the staff across the counter, also by the ice well. Finally, the order retrieval process is not the best. There are no names written on the cups and customers are sometimes in the bathroom or outside on the back patio when their order is ready. It can be hard for the staff to locate the right customer or if the drink gets left on the counter, it's hard to know what it is and who it is for. Overall, a pleasant (plant-based!) discovery but hoping they might consider a few steps (pun intended) to reduce the strain on their staff.
