The decoration of the store is a bit outdated, but the work she does with the clothes is phenomenal. I recently took her some very expensive J.Crew dress pants and she made them fit perfectly. Totally found Tina's after searching for yelp for a tailor to fix a hole in my jacket. I didn't know you could multiple message folks/businesses on yelp for price quotes and information! Super helpful, but Tina's responded right away (there's an estimated response time built into the app) and I drove over to have the ladies take a look at the hole that needed patching. Tina's is tucked into the shopping center with the Fresh Market and Outback steakhouse... which I always find tricky cause of their entrance onto East Blvd and then the side entrance on Scott Ave. There are a number of businesses here in this shopping complex so the parking lot is always busy... I always feel like someone is going to pull out of this place onto East Blvd and hit me if I'm driving past. I think it's because the Brixx really "shields" the parking lot so that it almost feels like the cars are coming from nowhere. Anyway.. my old person parking complaints aside, the shop is located on the "less busy" end of the complex. From the parking lot you can see a manikin with a bridal dress on so it does give it a specialty shop feel, but I walked in and the ladies greeted me warmly. I showed them my coat and there was some discussion about what it will look like after, etc. Full disclosure... they said the patch wouldn't be seamless, but I'm just happy they were able to patch it. It's one of my favorite jackets - just happened to get snagged on a coat hook at the wrong place. Other than a register/host desk in the front.. there's saloon style doors that go to the back (I'm assuming for fittings and trying on dresses). Another lady came in while they were ringing me up and they do their best to get you in and out with your seamstress/alteration needs. read more

I chose to use Tina's alterations to have my bridesmaid dress tailored after reading some excellent reviews. Unfortunately these did not speak true to the work done on my dress. I took my dress in 8 weeks early to ensure ample time for adjustments, the employee who checked me in was very helpful and relieved that I had a lengthy timeline (apparently the business had a lot of recent rush orders). I put the dress on and stood in front of the mirror to explain the adjustments needed which were primarily across chest, neck, and armpit area. The only other adjustment was closing up the slit slightly. I wore the exact bra I'll be wearing at the wedding to ensure everything was being tailored to that. When I picked up my dress there was a different man at the shop who did not allow me to try it on before leaving. When I arrived home I discovered several disappointments in the stitching, alignment, and overall job. Despite having 4 weeks to complete, it is clear this work was done in a huge rush. The seam is OVER A MILLIMETER OFF OF ALIGNMENT which is huge when it comes to a fitted gown. The dress does not lay on my body properly as a result, the left side is a millimeter long and lower than the right. If you've ever put a long fitted gown that's asymmetrical on your body then you know how instantly noticeable it is. I could have done this work at home with my own sewing machine for less of a headache and saved $80 for their ten minutes of work. It still does not cover the bra I am wearing to the ceremony or fit tightly in the check/underarm which is exactly what I paid them to fix. Not sure if they forgot to fix one side or just can't see their own hemline. Thankfully I have time to take it elsewhere to be properly fixed before the wedding. Will never go here again. read more

I had a second-hand Reformation dress that turned out to be a bit too large and too long, so after a lot of yelp reviews later, I decided to take the dress to Tina's. As most reviewers say, they were a little on the pricey side, but the work they did was worth it. They were able to take my dress in on top, matching the seams to where you can't even tell it wasn't made that way from the start. I also had them hem about 3 inches from the bottom which they did a great job on as well. And I took it in on a Tuesday and needed it for a party on Saturday so they were able to get the alterations done quickly! Tina did a FANTASTIC job on creating my dream wedding dress! I originally wanted to wear a dress that's been in my family for years but was unable to fit it. I purchased a simple dress and entrusted Tina to essentially recreate my dream dress! She manually transferred all of the lace and beading from the original dress to the new one, she also cut a few feet off of my detachable train, added hooks to the new dress for the detachable train to blend in perfectly on the new bodice. Horrible experience altering my wedding dress. I felt like the staff were way too opinionated about MY dress. They pressured me to get it tighter than I wanted, and after I declined, they did it anyway. They only gave me one option of a bustle (probably because they preferred that style themselves). The worst part was that after altering my dress too tight, they had a hard time zipping me in and actually accused me of gaining weight. They then recommended I drink more tea to lose the weight. I went home and cried because the alterations ladies fat-shamed me. Not that it matters what size I am, but I am a size 2 and am mortified at the way they treated me. I am a clothing freak. I like my clothes fitted and tailored and I get almost everything altered in some way. It's a small place but she's really good at keeping the flow going and getting you measured and out of there quickly. She's very thorough and is great at what she does. She has been able to do things that other alterations places have said couldn't be done. I'm sure they're not the cheapest but they are definitely reasonable. I had my wedding dress altered here and they did a fantastic job. It was brought in four sizes, with one layer actually having to be let out, and they did it flawlessly. They sewed cups in to the lining of the dress so that I didn't have to bother with a special bra. I noticed a small lace flower on the dress was ripped, and they added their own flower that matched perfectly. You couldn't even tell a difference. My alterations required three fittings, and everyone was patient and I could tell cared about the value of their work. They are very reasonably priced in addition to everything. This place is, quite seriously, as good as it gets! The pricing is not cheap, but it's fair, in my opinion. I have, since last year, brought in 4 pair of pants (2 hiking, 2 jeans) for hemming... all work was done quickly and perfectly... and last week I brought in a dress from Lulu's that needed all sorts of TLC to make it fit JUST right... The dress was a very flowy goddess cut dress with a deep plunging neckline... I loved it the minute I put it on, but it was cut for a woman with um... how shall I say it... larger "endowments" than my own... so I took it to Tina's, and purchased some fashion tape on the side just in case... When I returned to pick it up, the cups we had discussed had been seamlessly added, the shoulder pieces had been taken up, and the side gaps had been delicately hand stitched together.... YES... I paid $60 for this alteration (almost as much as I paid for the dress), but in the end it was 100% worth it. (I returned the fashion tape as it was unnecessary after the alterations had been done.) I will take everything that needs altering back to Tina's. The work is impeccable EVERY TIME! read more

Pricing is a few dollars more than I encounter elsewhere - it's in Dilworth after all, so I'm not surprised some upcharge needs to passed along. Along with that, the shop is tiny... fittings take place in the lobby, change rooms are very small. Again, I get it - commercial real estate is expensive in this area, so space will be economized. My first visit, I felt like my items are not taken in quite enough. But based on so many strong reviews I gave them a second chance, and asked Tina to double check the pinning being done by her assistants. She would tell them "you need to take in more" and adjust the pins. These garments came back meeting my expectations. I took two jackets into Tina's Alterations to have them taken in after I lost some weight and the seamstress took a lot of time measuring and molding my jacket to my body. It took her two weeks to finish the alterations and cost $170.00 for the extensive work that she did. After putting the jackets on it is like wearing a new one. The feeling of both are very different than when I originally had them tailored at Men's Wearhouse. I now look slimmer and feel more comfortable in them.
