This review is for cleaning and preservation of my wedding dress! I could not find that many places that do this in Charlotte, and this was the cheapest I found. I was able to easily make an appointment online. I brought my dress in, it was a quick drop off and they asked me a couple questions about it. They included my veil, too. They mailed it to me when it was done instead of having to go pick it up. This was no additional charge, too which was nice. They go through an outside wedding preservation company who emailed me when they received it and when they shipped it- loved the constant communication. They were having a 20% off deal for the month of June when I dropped it off so I paid $405 for this service. It took about 2 months between drop off and when it was delivered, but they were transparent about that from the beginning and it actually arrived quicker than expected! It arrived via fedex (he did need a signature, so make sure you're home) and it looks great in the box! I recommend this service! read more

Detailed oriented when it came to hemming my dress, but ended up finding a couple of stains that weren't on my dress so I'm having to try and clean it myself and they added a corset to my dress and the ribbon that was given to me is unraveling at the ends so basically just a cut ribbon, not sewn together so I'll have to fix that. Also the garment bag I had brought my dress in was for some reason switched for a used garment bag which is frustrating because I had paid for it and it wasn't cheap. So had to go on Amazon and buy a new one. And I paid over 1200 which included tip for my alternations, was not worth it with all the issues I had. read more

But I wanted a very specific look that they said wasn't possible because of the dress's construction and material. I came here to have my bridesmaids dress altered for my sisters wedding. Unfortunately I broke my ankle 2 weeks before the event and was completely non weight bearing (think knee scooter, crutches, boot etc). I came to pick up my dress a week before and had to have it shortened again to work with my new shoes (flats). They were so kind and helpful! They actually had me stand with my crutches and my foot behind me and shortened the dress around that. They knew how time sensitive it was and how hard it would be for me to come back and pick it up so they took it into the back and shortened it right then and there! It fit perfectly, they had already added the cups and adjusted the top fit for me, and now the dress was the perfect length! Thank you so much! It pains me to do this because the people who work here are incredibly nice, but my wedding dress alterations just did not meet my expectations. If you have a somewhat tricky dress, I wouldn't recommend taking it here. I altered a neckline from sweetheart to square in which it didn't end up being very square and a small patch was sewn in the middle to mimic the appearance. The inside of the bodice was torn in the front as well after a couple alterations, the line of the waist was bulging out from alterations, and my originally strapless dress ended up being droopy and saggy which resulted in having to add straps. I unfortunately paid around 800 for alterations and in the end, just ended up taking my dress to another tailor two weeks before my wedding. Very upsetting and unfortunate. read more

I would really think twice about booking an appointment with John Emily Studio. They will cancel your appointment for no reason or double book you and turn you away. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I booked my J.E.S. bridal appointment over two months ago and called 2 weeks before the set date to re-confirm. The only reason why I called them to re-confirm was because I was making arrangements to pick up my bridal belt from Ladies of Lineage and they told me to confirm the appointment because several of their brides were cancelled/turned away because they were double booked. Then, I found out John Emily Studio had also double booked me. I had to call and email them several times to get responses and they were incredibly unprofessional. When I finally did speak to who I was supposed to, they cancelled my appointment and stated for "legal reasons" they could not "disclose why" they had to cancel the appointment. She repeated that like 5x. She insinuated that they cancelled me because I was a referral from Ladies of Lineage, which I thought was odd and extremely unprofessional. She even said that it was no their fault and that they apologize on behalf of Ladies of Lineage. During the call, she wouldn't let me speak and continuously interrupted me and she never once apologized for the trouble or for double booking me. When I asked why they hadn't reached out sooner, she said they were "planning to call but hadn't gotten around to it yet." I told her that this is not something to wait around to do. It should have been handled immediately. After the phone call, John Emily Studio emailed me the details of two other alterations shops that I could contact. Their email was incredibly rude. They didn't address me, they didn't apologize for the inconvenience....it only had the contact information for the other 2 shops. Who conducts business this way?? If you're thinking about booking with John Emily Studio, I would think again and find a place that treats everyone fairly and with respect. read more
