I've observed Tina and her team interacting with many different clients and have always seen respect. I like how they will make recommendations based in their expertise, but will always default to what the client wants if there is a difference of opinion. I'm a lucky girl, I normally don't need to alter any of my clothes. So when I have to hem my evening gown (was it made for a 7 feet tall giant??) for a special night, I was at lost. I called around to several places, but decided to give Tina's a try mainly due to the many positive reviews on here, her location/hours, her price quote ($20-30ish) AND she said she would get it ready for me in time. I stopped in the week before the big night, Tina used a very cool chalk machine to mark the dress (which has a top saffron-like layer and a bottom lining). She quoted me $30 but gave me a 5% off for cash payment. I told her I would need it by Thursday. Thursday morning I called and confirmed that my dress was ready. I picked it up right before she closed at 7pm, and it was perfect. Almost too perfect - I had no choice but to wear that pair of heels because Tina hemmed it just right - any lower heels and it would be too long again. I would recommend Tina's for your special items. I saw alot of people stop in for regular stuffs too, but I personally will just keep pushing my luck and wear things off the rack :) read more

Everything you have read about Tina's is spot on. I took several pairs of pants in that needed everything from a hem, altered in the waist and tapered legs. All of the pants were done flawlessly. You would never know that I had not bought them in a store perfectly fitting to my body. I just moved to Charlotte and was anxious to have to find a new alterations place for a bridesmaid dress. I found Tina's on Yelp and called to ask how far in advance I had to bring in my dress, and she said about a week before the wedding-easy enough. My husband ended up bringing in a couple of suits he needed tailored before then, and he was very happy with the results. Tina took great care in making sure everything was pinned and altered properly. We've lived in NYC, Chicago, and some other cities, and my husband says Tina did the best job on his suits than anyone in the larger cities, and at a better price, too. She has a natural eye for what looks best and does far more than just taking in the sides of a jacket. When it came time to do my bridesmaid dress I brought it in about a week before and really just needed the straps shortened and the bottom hemmed. I had kind of a strange puckering on the dress near the zipper and Tina asked me if I wanted her to try to fix it. I asked her if she thought it was worth it and she said no. I appreciated the honestly because really, it was a dress I'd wear once and I didn't think the pucker was worth the cost or effort. She was quick and efficient in marking the bottom of the dress and it ended up costing me a lot less than the places I've taken bridesmaid dresses to in other cities-almost half as much. I picked up my dress a week later and it was great. I ended up stopping in again recently to get a pair of leggings hemmed and as with the other times, it was quick in, quick out, and the hem looks great. The boutique I bought my dress from recommended Tina so that is where I went. I thought it was a bit pricey ($550), but I know wedding alterations can cost a lot. I needed the front of my dress hemmed, sleeves to be shortened and taken in, the waist and underarms/breast cups had to be taken in and it had to be taken out slightly at my hips, plus of course the bustle. My dress was lace (not really any beading), long illusion sleeves, fit and flare. When I first bought my dress, it was off rack and too small. It couldn't even button up down the back. I busted my ass to lose almost 20 lbs before my fitting and had it completely buttoned up and even needed to have a lot of it taken in (as mentioned above). I loved my dress at that point and how it lay on my body and made my ass look AMAZING - didn't really feel like I needed too much work on it, mostly just get it hemmed and bustled! I have a major hourglass shape and big on the bottom. When I got my dress back though, she took it out way too much and the material was bunching around my hips so it didn't lay right and made my behind look flat and frumpy. The underarm of my sleeve was ripped as well when I got it back. I pointed these things out to Tina and she had one of her ladies take it back and "fixed" these things within 10 minutes so that I wouldn't have to come back and basically pushed us out the door after. I honestly would have preferred her team take the time to truly make the stitching at my hips right not just the sleeve. She also stitched my top train layer with the lace detailing to the second layer of my dress so it didn't fan out like a giant circle. I left her shop almost in tears having dress regret because it didn't look good on my body anymore because of her alterations, but unable to afford a new dress. When I went back to my bridal boutique to buy a veil, they actually told me they've had 4 other brides have similar complaints and did buy all new dresses. They have now stopped recommending Tina to their Brides ... I just wish I had gotten the memo before going! Also, Tina did 3 french bustles (ties underneath the dress) and 5 american bustles (clips up on the outside of the dress) and every single one of them broke within 20 minutes. My wedding planner had to safety pin up my train with A LOT of clips and the makeshift bustle kept coming undone. Eventually, I just said F it and let my train hang out which inevitably was stepped on, ripped, and disgusting from the ground by the end of the night. My wedding planner asked who did my alterations because this bustle was the worst she's ever seen and didn't want to recommend her to any of her future clients as well. I'm rating Tina a 2 because while I hated the end product, she was nice and did "try" to fix my concerns when I voiced them, but if you need anything more than just a hem - I would HIGHLY advise taking your wedding dress elsewhere. read more

I came here with my wedding dress and got a great vibe while getting it sized correctly. My dress was going to get hemmed, taken in on the bodice, and have a bustle added. It was only going to take one week for $180 ! Awesome ! So, my mom and I arrive one week later and I try my dress on. First thing I notice is a small blood stain near the zipper... Then I zip it up and notice it has not been hemmed. Tina said "oops I forgot to write it on the invoice". We were upset, because Tina told us it would be an extra $100 to hem it. But wait... That wasn't the number we had discussed. So now our total is $280. Tina said it was her fault, but we still had to pay and wait 24 hours for her to hem it. We also showed her the blood stain and she said she would clean it. In the end, the dress turned out amazing and looks fantastic, but it was a hassle to deal with. read more

Well... Winter is here and I've been shopping in my closet again. This time for something to keep me warm while out and about and possibly keep me dry. Just in case it actually rains again. So in digging into the back where I keep my warm coats, I pulled out a couple of varied length wool coats from J. Crew, a rain coat from Hugo, and a vest from J.Crew [yes, vest is not a coat, but it coordinates with the wardrobe]. The thought of replacing them crossed my mind until I thought of the replacement value which would be $$$$. Then I wondered if Tina would be able to alter any of them. Each coat had satin linings and some padding for warmth. So, I figured I'll take them in and see if she can. I showed Tina and she didn't even flinch!! Pinching and pinning and more pinning and chalking, she had what she needed and I left. When I came back the following week to try on the coats, they were effing magic!! The long wool coats were fantastic. Just enough room for a suit coat or thick sweater under and no longer the boxy look that required me to dress up like a little kid in a Wolverine muscle padded costume for them to fit. My favorite though was my Hugo rain coat, looks UHHH-MAAZZNGGG!!! I had seriously considered going to Zara to replace it with another version. The new fitted Hugo looks way better and it's for me! The price was super fair, considering that all the coats and vest (which looks awesome too, duh) would have cost me a mint to replace, assuming I could find the same styles. And even then they wouldn't fit 'me'. I'm loving this tailored clothing bit. I have sweaters, suit coats and more in the closet ready to go. I was concerned it wasn't going to fit correctly with the alteration but it does! I really appreciate their attention to detail and saving the day on my bridesmaids dress. Tina's Alteration's was very accommodating and worked with me to help me get ready for my big day. I gained 3 inches since I bought both my wedding ceremony gown and reception dress- I was nervous. I tried losing weight but I was still off my a couple of inches. I decided to go to Tina's because of the great reviews I had previously read. It was also near my job. I visited on a Tuesday (5 days before my wedding) and was reassured both my dresses would be ready in a couple of days. The workers were really nice and helped me make the proper adjustments. I was very pleased. I was told my dresses would be complete and ready on Friday. It is now Thursday and I am leaving the establishment with both of my beautiful dresses. 2 days for 2 dresses, you can't beat that! They did an amazing job and I highly recommend them to anyone. My sister came here this year to have her dress altered because the waist/hip area was too low, but she specifically asked TWICE if the gorgeous delicate lace at the hem of the dress would be cut, because that's the most beautiful part of the dress, and both times the employees reassured her that they would not cut the lace. When she came to pick up her dress, it was too tight, the waist was not altered to sit higher how she had requested, AND they cut the lace at the bottom. I'm very unhappy with the way this business handled my sister's requests, and she is very upset about her experience here. I do not recommend this company. read more

I can not tell you how much Tina and her people saved me during my wedding. After having my dress with another alterations shop for over two months before the wedding, the person there finally admitted that she was not able to do the things I had asked for. Two weeks before the big day, I left crying and with an unfinished gown. I began to desperately call other shops, only to be turned down on the spot when they heard what I needed and the short time frame. Then, I was recommended to Tina. I called her, she said to come in immediately and when I got there, she and two others swarmed and me and began pinning and tucking. I was so thankful I was crying! You guys, she turned my wedding gown into the masterpiece I had dreamed of in less than 48 hours - and corrected the errors of the prior alterations! Tina is amazing and I wouldn't trust anyone else to make any kind of major alterations. I came to her in a panic after receiving my wedding dress and realizing that they had ordered about 6 sizes too big for me. They were going to have to basically remake the dress and I was worried first of all that it would end up looking like it was made for someone much bigger than me and second that it was going to cost me an arm and a leg. Tina and everyone at the shop worked efficiently, so I was always in and out of the shop in well under an hour. She made sure to reassure me that they would do as many fittings as it took until I was happy with the dress, which made me feel a lot better. I needed to get a bridesmaid dress altered which I have never done so I really had no idea how to even pick out a spot! I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place yet. It's my go-to place, even when I live two hours away now, because she just does so well with my dress shirts. Recently, I've had to make final alterations on a bespoke suit to get the pant legs tapered and she did a great job with that, too. I've never been unsatisfied with what I get. She will get it right within two tries and do it in a timely manner (1 week max for basic things like shirts, pants, etc). They're also very nice and professional and efficient when pinning you and make great recommendations/give good opinions about how things should fit on your body. !00% recommend. read more

I have had multiple bridesmaid dresses altered at Tinas and have always had a great experience, however, recently I was so impressed I had to leave a review. After having my bridesmaid dress taken in months ago at Tinas, I tried the dress on two days before the wedding (I know... silly me) and it no longer fit. I called Tinas and they were more than happy to help me. I told them I could have a friend pick it up in two days (on the wedding day) and bring it to me at the hotel. Tina's said to not worry... they would have it ready the next day!! Not only did they offer to do the work so quickly, they charged no additional fee for the time constraint. I first went there with an emergency to fix my bridesmaid dress as I had gained some weight recently and no longer fit. I found this out the day before flying to another state for the wedding. In a panic I went to several different alteration stores and received the same answer from them all: I would need to get extra fabric, they would have to do a complicated corset, it would take at least a week, and did I mention the cost? When I went into Tina's Alterations I was greeted warmly and was attended to immediately. Within a few minutes I was told that they could easily adjust the size of the dress and it could be done within a day. The icing on the cake was that the price was unbeatable. I've been in Charlotte for one year and relied mainly on other reviews (both Yelp and Google) to assist in choosing a quality alteration service. Unlike most other reviews for Tina's, I just needed two pairs of unfinished khaki pants to be hemmed (looks like most others have come here for more intensive alterations to dresses, etc.) The turnaround was about a week and the price of the service was satisfactory, so I was pretty content with my decision. However, one month later, both hems have come out of both khaki pants. Had only one come loose, I wouldn't attribute this to sloppy work...I plan on going back to Tina's to show them what happened this week. I don't have a receipt, since this was done about a month ago. I'd like to think this isn't representative of their work considering the other reviews, but I feel obligated to share this bad experience. I ordered an expensive dress from NY but the company couldn't do the alterations in time for my wedding due to their schedule. I was so panicked - I have heard horror stories about dresses being ruined in alterations so I researched everyone in Charlotte before choosing Tina's. They were GREAT! Absolutely knew what they were doing, my dress turned out stunning - I had it hemmed, added a bustle, had them take the crinoline in to make it less mermaid, and adjusted the straps. Talk about a lifesaver. I bought my bridesmaid dress this past January for a September wedding. Unfortunately, I gained some weight. Three weeks before the wedding, the bridesmaid dress barely zipped up; it was so uncomfortable. Finding a reliable tailor in the Southend/Dilworth area hasn't proven easy for me, that is until I discovered Tina's Alteration. I've had many pants both lengthened and hemmed here as well as alterations for several dresses, and suits.
