The area itself is better than many areas in PV The store has lots of good fresh produce - veggies, fruits and herbs. Some of it were at a very good price when compared to Canada. Some berries from Mexico were expensive. They had lots of breads, tacos, fajitas made right on premises. Surprisingly there are lots of vegan milks - oat, soy and almond. Vegan Hotdogs, mock meats, sliced seitan-ham, pepperoni etc. Lots of Tofu, vegan Cheeze, ice creams, burgers as such as well. The store has some hats, beachware and some basic clothes and home stuff as well. Most staff don't speak English so it may be a difficult if you need help. All else service are good.

Fish, other seafoods, and shellfish, arrive at the shop in the early-mornings (weekdays, and Saturday), and once unpacked, are set up for sale rather quickly by the staff. My favourite time to shop there is between 7-9am, when the products are out for sale, and the selections and freshness the best. For me, it's been primarily a place to shop for shrimp. I find their selections are often 'the' best in the area -- allowing me to choose sizes graded from small to large, and at times, very large, with heads still attached. For us, I'm most often seeking "mediums" for our our cooking, but once in a while, the "small'' are great for cocktails, to use in sandwiches, stir-fries, and the like, and the "large" or "very large" can make some yummy dinner treats. The shrimp are priced by the kilo, and the friendly and accommodating staff will always provide you with as much or little as you wish. I like this little pescaderia, have been shopping there for several years, and have never had a problem with the quality of products purchased.

Mexican candy is tasty and made with love. You are greeted with a friendly kind employee offering samples of nuts or varying candies produced on site. You can sample nearly everything so if it isn't offered, make sure you ask! I always go for the candied nuts, but wanted to try out some new options this time. I had my mom with me and it was her first time in PV. We sampled all kinds of goodies and got some explanations for others. Everyone speaks enough English to communicate effectively if you don't speak any Spanish. The candy maker was hard at work making sweet caramel cookies. I really enjoy witnessing the labor of love that goes into the items I buy. That coconut caramel pecan cookie was delectable!

I ended up with 6, which meant no box, but no biggie- they won't last long enough to need it. The strawberry balsamic was a nice combo of flavors. The champagne didn't taste like champagne but still tasted fabulous and the metallic sprinkles gave the feel of champagne. The dark chocolate truffle was what it should be. Last year I took a bunch to work and my coworkers were so happy....some even they didn't know. it's not fancy. its open in the front, so no air conditioning. Also be aware no one there speaks English. They always seem surprised to see a tourist, but they are always kind and turn the screen so I can see how much to give them. tip get the Japanese Nishiyams. it's peanuts in a crunchy shell. they sell packs of single servings! now if the would get the ice flavored ones like Oxxo!

They are not cheap however they make some of the best vanilla you can ask for. Other places I was told that had been rumored to have them were Costco and Walmart and I checked both of those out this week, they had none. While Vodka is the more common source of alcohol to create the extract, this year I'll be trying Mezcal, bring two very complimentary Mexican flavors together to make an extract you probably can't buy in any store at any price. I'll let you know in a couple of years how it comes out.
