Best meal in Puerto Vallarta for us. Food: Very flavorful. We started with the ceviche, which was red snapper with passionfruit and lime dressing and guacamole- like dollops around. All the flavors blended together beautifully. It also had something else I couldn't quite place but was delicious. Seared tuna main was my partner's and he loved it. He compared it to steak and the veggies added a ton of flavor. only thing that was lacking was the potato balls, needed to use the other things on the plate to make it flavor. Diabla shrimp: my dish and I loved all the flavor, the garlic sauce on the shrimp could have been a little lighter but it was very tasty. The veggies were delicious and flavorful. Dessert: ice cream was great! Service: they are very attentive but it does take a while. We waited over 15 minutes for the ice cream which was surprising since it wasn't a desert that needs prepared. Ambiance: great ambiance! I loved the art work and the baskets on the ceiling with lights. It feels like a little neighborhood restaurant, only filled with tourists and not local neighbors that part was a little hard to stomach. Otherwise great experience! Cute place off the beaten path on the other side of Rio Cuale from Romantic Zone. Fun tile work and lots of outdoor seating makes for a lovely atmosphere. Cocktails: all were good Wine: not a huge selection (two reds in total) but we were craving something other than agave and beer. Don't remember what we ordered but it was decent (not amazing). Served a lot more chilled than I am used to. Maybe because the weather is so hot? Apps: ordered the salad. Here in the Bay Area, this salad would be considered dated (think goat cheese, candied pecans, strawberries, etc), but it was tasty and fresh and it was......SALAD! Entree: short rib enmolades. Wow, spectacular! Easily the best thing we ate all week. Decadent braised short ribs wrapped in tortillas and doused in a delicious mole. There was some goat cheese on top as well which wasn't necessary but was tasty nonetheless. Desserts: Carrot cake and creme brûlée. If it hadn't been for the desserts I may have given this place 5 stars. The carrot cake was dry and crumbly and the creme brûlée was grainy. Not recommended. So yeah, definitely come for the entrees, but skip the desserts. read more

La Fina is a charming little restaurant in a less often visited neighborhood of the Romantica zone. It's in an older neighborhood, and is a house and covered patio beautifully converted into a restaurant with seating in the front patio area. Between the strung up lights, the festive painting and details to local artwork, this spot makes for a gorgeous little date night venue. Restaurant opens at 7, use their WhatsApp to make reservations, especially if high season. We showed up right at opening and were quickly surrounded by a pretty full restaurant very quickly! Our sever was wonderful, and very informative on both the drink and food menu. We ordered two drinks, one mule type, and the other a spicy citrus, both were delicious, and well made! We ordered the plantain tamale stuffed with braised pork and it was absolutely incredible, it looked big but the outside was crisp light and sweet, the inside pork savory and juicy, it was gone very quickly between the two of us. We also got the octopus main dish that was new on the menu, the octopus was perfectly cooked, and the fondant potatoes delicious as well. We wanted to order more, but the portions there are large, we were pretty full. We did get the chocolate peanut brownie, and it was tasty but overall was very sweet! This is a terrific restaurant that is sure to be full most nights, great food, drinks and service, everyone was enjoying their time there, and it was a really fun experience, can't wait to come back and try more! read more

This is absolutely one of the best finds for a foodie visiting or living in Puerto Vallarta. The heart, soul, and flavor surpasses Casa Kimberly/Iguana, La Madalena, La Leche, etc. This is elevated and refined Mexican food that has no equal in the city (the chili relleno at La Iguana is the only thing that comes close). If you want skillfully crafted, delicious food - get yourself a reservation to La Fina ASAP! Found this by way of a recommendation from a local. It's a short hop over the Rio Cuale in Atmosfera (just outside of Zona Romantica). The atmosphere is relaxed (& romantic if you're looking for a great date spot). It's only patio seating, so best to limit a group to 4 max. The chef is clearly well-trained, as his dishes display a defined palette, an artistic eye for plating, and a polished understanding of classical techniques with contemporary flavor profiles. We started with the Plantain & Meat Sope, the Crab Empanada, and the Duck Flautas. Mains were the Stuffed Pork and the Shrimp Enchiladas. Oh boy - truly - everything was delicious. The sope & the flautas shined. The duck is crispy and tender, the mole sauce is rich and complimentary without being heavy and sticky. The sope was both sweet and savory, bursting with flavor and depth. Both I will order again. The waiter recommended the shrimp enchiladas and they were honestly unforgettable. Easily the best enchiladas I have had not just in Puerto Vallarta, but anywhere. The pork was stuffed with either panela or goat cheese, over roasted potatoes, asparagus, and a rich cream sauce. It was a new flavor that I have never experienced before and the remainder of the sauce was scooped up with homemade bread. Clean plates all around. Dessert was the vanilla roll (divine) and a scoop of homemade Oreo ice cream (a perfect ending). Our entire bill was just shy of 1400 pesos (before tip) for 3 people, inclusive of 3 courses, 2 alcoholic beverages, and 4 non-alcoholic beverages. Food was good so props to the chefs and to the owners that put the menu together but our server (shorter young male) had a particularly bad attitude the entire night. It started from the time we alerted him we had a reservation (it was past our rez time so we were checking, but he huffed) asking if we can see the food menu (waited nearly ten mins, clearly annoyed) sarcastically referencing that one of us didn't like our drinks (Amaras) and still left it on our bill when he agreed to swap it out. It wasn't a problem that he forgot to give us our wine but he had a bad attitude when we told him he charged us twice for it. Listen I get it, he may have had a bad day, maybe we said something that he didn't like, or possibly worse (we're a diverse group). Whatever it was, at the end of the day we're still paying customers, going out of way to enjoy a relatively expensive meal at a supposed fine dining establishment, so the expectations are what they've set. If this was a small mom and pop shop charging $65 pesos for fish enchiladas, you wouldn't be reading this from me. But La Fina is serving $550 mxn for rack of lamb and $200 mxn for their specialty drinks, so theyre no small mom and pop restaurante. With that, the amount of attitude was unacceptable. There are way too many other places providing the same quality of your food closer to the center of the city, at a much more affordable price point and without nearly close the attitude. read more

'La Fina Cucina de Barrio' is a tiny restaurant on a small street in Zona Romantica. We arrived about 20 minutes early and they seated us promptly in the outside courtyard. We both had a cocktails. They brought us the food menu a little while later. We ordered 3 small plates (appetizers) a pork belly taco, a seared tuna, and the duck gordita taco. (I should have ordered another pork belly and seared tuna taco for dinner that's how tasty they were!) The tuna was seared perfectly and they added avocado, serano peppers, thinly sliced cucumbers, squid ink, soy and lemon dressing. It was to die for! The pork belly taco was prepared on a Blue corn tortilla, with a burnt sauce, avocado, onions, truffle oil and pico de gallo; it melted in our mouths. (sharing) For dinner my husband had the boneless short ribs that were off the bone tender. All in all, it was a great place with great food. We'll be back! read more

Located over the river, down a quiet residential street, far away (but totally walkable) from the hustle of the rest of Zona Romantica, this small restaurant easily provided our best meal in town. All the dishes were incredibly tasty, fresh, and served in plentiful portion sizes - as each plate came out, we were more and more impressed (we also clearly ordered too much food). The cocktails were equally as well crafted, and honestly we'd come back here even if it was just a bar. The decor and serving plates were beautiful, but know you are effectively eating in a covered open air restaurant, so no A/C.
