My go to for haircuts, I have consistently visited Kaz for around a year+ and I have never had a bad quality hair cut in my time span of visiting her shop. My first time visiting Kaz was extremely comforting and I did not have to show her any examples. This gave me the confidence to know she knew what she was doing and would make the requested haircut I asked for fit the way I look. I've been getting my hair cut, bleached, and colored by Kaz since December 2021 and it's now been a little over a year since then! Every time I leave her salon, I feel confident and happy because she styles my hair exactly how I like it. Other stylists I've been to before have typically been hesitant to cut my hair short and would tend to ask me "Are you sure you want it this way?", which I always found to be incredibly annoying! I would think to myself, "Yes... I want my hair that short... I'm paying you to cut it that short..." I've never experienced any of that weird hesitation with Kaz and I can comfortably ask her to style my hair how I actually want it. Besides being comfortable and feeling like a rockstar with her doing my hair, I also really admire her attention to detail. In regards to hair, she has a very keen eye for shaping and texture. There are other small things that I appreciate too, like how she gently towel dries my ears after rinsing my head and offers me a nice cup of green tea to drink while my hair is processing. While the small things may not seem to be that big of a deal to others, it definitely means a lot when evaluating integrity and character -- it's her diligence and attention to the little details that makes the whole experience all the more worth it. If I could leave zero stars I would but since I can't it gets a 1 star rating. After making an appointment and getting there early and texting AND messaging, I don't get any response. 10 minutes before my 12:30pm appointment I text again saying, "I'm out front" then proceed to wait outside for 25 minutes before I say F this and leave. I can't remember how long I've been getting my hair cuts from Kaz but it's always been a pleasant and enjoyable experience. I like that she uses mostly scissors for my short hair and it tends to grow out with nice texture even after a month or two. It's a little difficult to get a appointment if you book too close to the day of the cut but other than that I'm a happy customer. Oh as for COVID and protocol I would definitely recommend it since it's a single chair environment and very clean. So I felt safe going the last few months. read more

i just moved from Tokyo to San diego, and I wanted to find a Japanese hair salon that could do asian's haircut well, so I reserved Tiny Kaz. It was a very pleasant experience going to her salon. The salon is small with only 1 stylist, but you get the service from the same person for the whole time, which is great! I wanted to cut my long hair short. Kaz was always concerned that she'd cut it too short; so she cut it little by little to confirm if I was comfortable with the length. The shampoo was also awesome, with the mask covered my face, so my makeup won't be ruined by water, which is exactly the same experience I can have in any Tokyo's hair salon. After blow and style, I walked out of the salon with the same style I can get in Tokyo! I have very straight, soft, and thin hair. Kaz can handle it very well. Do you ever leave a salon feeling like, "Oh this is good, but if maybe I had just thought to say this..." or just that you didn't have enough knowledge to express what you really wanted? Kaz is really a stylist you should try then! I'll preface this by saying that I'm a guy with long hair. I love my hair, but I haven't got a lot of knowledge or vocabulary to express what I want with my hair -- or even what's possible. Kaz always makes me feel at ease and there's never a doubt that she will do everything to understand what it is I want before starting to cut. She doesn't rush you and asks really good questions that even someone like me without the technical jargon can answer and express. She also has really good suggestions! She's a diligent perfectionist and I have full trust and faith in her hands. Kaz is AMAZING! I went in for Japanese Straightening on just my bangs because I have an unruly cowlick and I was so tired of the laborious styling it required every morning. I went in with an example photo and Kaz was very realistic saying it might not fix the cowlick but I was desperate to try anything. Never have I walked in with an example photo and left with exactly that! My bangs are so soft and smooth with the cowlick 80% corrected. I don't even have to flat iron my bangs and they actually keep their shape over night so I only have to restyle them every 3 days instead of every morning like I used to. It's been the best hair decision I ever made! And Kaz was so confident in cutting, every other stylist I tried was hesitant as I always wanted mini bangs and they didn't really like to do that so I always walked out with a half hearted attempt. But Kaz went right in and my hair has never looked better. Besides that, the overall environment was great. The studio was clean and my favorite thing was getting my face covered during the hair wash. I have terrible anxiety so it's really difficult for me to get services done as I don't like people touching me. I even brought a face mask because every other stylist I had would get so close to my face and breath on me while cutting my bangs. But Kaz stood the whole time and never once encroached on my personal space. She's very good and confident in what she does, and very detail oriented. I had to get washed three times due to the perm process but she never splashed water on my face and it never trickled down my neck. She even dried my ears each time which just felt like such a cute little detail that no one had ever done. I usually leave the salon feeling anxious for hours but I was actually smiling and can't wait to go back.
