    Decent Prices!

Met Mark here for lunch the other day to try out a new to us place together. Noonish on a Wednesday, wasn't busy. Service was pretty good until the end when it took a hot minute to get our checks so we could leave. These folks have an extensive menu of Mexican, Tex-Mex and regular diner - breakfast and lunch food. Prices are reasonable and portions are about what you would expect but not overly generous. It still has that 50's Diner look from when it was Dan's but with a small flourish of Mexican decor. Also, Mark introduced me to Esquites which is a dish of corn, seasoning and mayonaise. Sounds like an odd combination but it is delicious! If you see this on a Mexican menu, get it! I'd definitely be up for exploring more here! 5 stars.

Very down to earth kinda restaurant. I ordered a soft crispy taco with steak, lettuce, tomato, cheese and avocado. It also came with Spanish rice. I also had a house margarita which was refreshing! Service was quick and efficient. The ambiance is very retro and laid back!

This should really be a separate entry, because it is owned by someone else, has a different name, and has a very different menu. Of course they do have both signs up still, so it's a little confusing. There are some diner items left on the menu: a few burgers, and some breakfast. But mainly there's a huge Mexican menu, with Mexican breakfast, lunch, dinners, drinks, etc. Met Mike here for lunch. It wasn't super busy at noon on a weekday. Service was great, although it was a little slow towards the end when we waited on our check. But in general, very good. Huge menu with lots of interesting stuff on it. I got esquite, Mexican street corn but in a dish instead of on the cob. Very good. Big portion. And I got carnitas. A pretty standard version, but very moist and tender, very flavorful. Came with fresh corn tortillas, plus the usual rice and beans, etc. I was starving and ate all of both, but both were pretty big portions, so I normally would've had a few leftovers. Definitely more on the menu I wanna try. A nice place to eat. Still feels like a diner, but somewhat redecorated. Prices were reasonable for quantity and quality.

    Big breakfast!

Stopped in for breakfast and the staff could not have been nicer! Can I get blueberries in the pancakes - of course! Can I get a side of sourdough toast - sure! Highly recommend!

Good ol diner vibes but with both greasy spoon diner eats PLUS super tasty Mexican comida! 100% loved it. Friendly, quick service, tasty food, amazing prices. This is a simple neighborhood diner - it's not fancy or pretentious but these are some of my favorite spots! We had Mexican eats this time and got completely stuffed for about $30. Love it and will def be back.

Good hidden gem in the south side of columbus! Bae loves Mexican food and tios diner is the spot! They was quick and food was perfect. The French toast was so delicious! They play Mexican music and the decor is Elvis lol It's very clean and right off of 104 freeway!

The King is still here, but he's sharing the stage with some folks from further South on the musical scene.

Dan's is here no more, but Tio's is, so Tex/Mex fans rejoice! The walls are still awash with old diner kitsch. And now they have US & Mexican flags to add to the ambience. The breakfast is still enormous, even though it speaks a bit more Spanish than it used to. Lunch looks hearty. Dinner was more than ample. And the service is as agradable as can be. My Carnitas filled more than 1/3 of my plata. Mom's Popeye chicken (with spinach of course) filled half of her platter, and was a wonderful mix of "run for the border" flavors... heading south that is, because running the other way sucks. My margarita came with a generous slice of orange, a wedge of lemon, and blueberries under an umbrella. I was a bit slow on the trigger for pix, but from what so vices on my plate, I hope you can see that my Carnitas were done to perfection. The cheese dip was cheese dip, and the salsa was salsa. No surprises, just the food you'd expect your uncle to serve you when you stop in. Awesome stuff, guys. Muy bueno. Muy rico. ¡Muchas gracias, mis amigos nuevos! New note... cerveza only on Sundays until further notice. But still great food. Tonight mom & I both had the giant flan. It's all still very good here & well worth the trip south.

    Chilaquiles are really good!

I ordered a grilled chilled cheese to be safe because I suspected the quality of other items would be questionable. Unfortunately, the grilled cheese is made with one single slice of Kraft American Singles. Not even real cheese and it wasn't fully melted. The fries are frozen crinkle cut fries, also somehow cold. The bacon was gross, tastes dry and just low quality, like microwave kind? I tried my son's kid waffle which was surprisingly decent. Hash-browns were okay just unseasoned. Overall would not recommend if you're looking for quality ingredients but if you're looking for a greasy spoon you're in business. The staff was nice, probably the only positive for me.

Yelp Elite Event at The Mercury Diner -- Come Hungry, Leave Happy!…read more WOW... just WOW! First and foremost, a HUGE shout-out to Jasmine and Hanna for putting on one heck of a Yelp Elite event tonight! You ladies absolutely crushed it! Now let's talk about the food... because that's why you're really here, right? Everything I tried was packed with flavor, but a few things really stood out. The homemade English muffins -- YES, homemade! And you could tell. They were fantastic. The fresh avocado smash -- basically guacamole, but calling it avocado smash somehow makes it sound even better! Either way, it was fresh, flavorful, and seriously delicious. Those crispy potatoes -- perfectly seasoned with that beautiful crispy exterior. I could have eaten a whole plate of them! And then came the mimosas... OH. MY. GOODNESS. These weren't your average brunch mimosas. They were next level! I started with the blackberry, and I think that one was my favorite. Then I tried the strawberry basil, followed by the Martian, which was pineapple-based. Let's just say... the bartender knew what they were doing! Speaking of the bartenders, they were absolutely fabulous--friendly, welcoming, and keeping everyone's glasses full. Overall, this was a fantastic night with great food, incredible drinks, and an awesome group of people. This is exactly why I love being part of the Yelp Elite community! And I'm not done with The Mercury Diner yet... Next time, I'm bringing the blogger camera and doing a full-on Brian's Big Bite food review! So stay tuned, Mercury Diner... I'm coming back hungry! First time my wife and daughter stopped before our daughter headed overseas for two years in the Peace Corps. Scotty''s is super close and convenient to the airport. Scotty learned of the imminent departure and came with cookies and treats for the long flight! And now this morning it was another airport drop off. It was my turn, dining alone but nothing about a table for one at Scotty's is lonely. The staff are immediately welcoming and every customer is every employee's charge. Four different people helped me or just checked in. The Gina breakfast combos have lots to offer for breakfast. But I was thrilled this 9:30 am to be assured the whole menu was available. I was looking for something less common and was excited to see potato latkes with sour cream and apple sauce as an option. That would have been great but then the waitress (Salome maybe) said, "Do you like corned beef?" The Schmoozer is 3 enormous latkes with thinly shaved and lightly grilled corn beef on top with an over easy egg atop that. Seriously, I can declare victory for finding something I'd never had before. Never would have found it without the nudge. Had to cut myself off with all the coffee offers. Just a great vibe. You rarely see a 4.9 rating and even more rarely that high based on so many reviews. But I understand why - like in so many things in life, it is about the people. And the joy they bring to every conversation. And I will just add, in this age when some would divide us, this dining room is filled with all manner of folks, reveling together over food in fellowship.
