Believe the hype if you're in Cobb county. OMG! It's like Sublime without all that cream cheese in every donut. I will say, it doesn't look like much from the outside, but man oh man...do not sleep on this place. There is a huge parking lot, so that's definitely not an issue. This used to be my absolute favorite donut shop. Unfortunately it's gone downhill over the years. They used to have the best apple fritters that were so light and moist. Now they are so heavy and dry, and just have an off taste. They have also gotten significantly smaller, while the price continues to go up. When you work in corporate America, I feel like people tend to grow tired of donuts. Because when they think of donuts, they think of the homogenized and identical-no-matter-where-on-the-planet-you-are donuts from either Dunkin or Krispy Kreme. Now don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with either of those places' donuts, but at least to me, there's always an aftertaste of feeling like I need to check my email, or cold sweats that there's an 8:30 meeting on my calendar that's on the other end of the building that I might be late for. I'll still eat them, but my enjoyment of them tends to have a very low ceiling. But then there are donuts like the ones from Tip Top Donuts, that renew my taste buds that there are in fact, donuts that exist outside of chains. Donuts that have a different texture, different taste, and a different feeling of quality to them. Glazed donuts, that create a sugary mess of flaky crackles of glaze sprinkling everywhere when you take a bite of them, and not remaining cemented on a piece of bread that literally rode a conveyor belt. I like to think that I'm a big fan of supporting local and small business. It becomes really easy when said local/small businesses have product as good of quality as Tip Top Donuts' donuts. I didn't even know this place existed, but I just haphazardly passed by it one day when I was picking up some Bojangles next door. And since Saturday mornings are always a question of what to eat in the morning without having to cook it myself, Tip Top became an easy choice of a place to try. They're located right near the corner of Cobb Pkwy and Allgood Rd, literally across the street from The Walker School. They're next to a Bojangles and a QT, which kind of makes this a perfect trifecta of temptations, on whether you want to get gas station snacks, fried chicken, or donuts. Their lot is small and the parking spaces are kind of hard to make out. Inside, it's a pretty simple layout, where you order at the counter and are served immediately as long as what you're looking for is still available. They have a few tables, but like me, the vast majority of people in there with me were just taking their donuts to go. The service is cheerfully friendly and nice, and I like to think that its them directly that all the customers are supporting. But back to the important thing at hand, Tip Top's donuts are legit. They're very light and airy, unless you get a cake donut. They melt in your mouth, and they're very dangerous to be able to kill 3-4 of them at a time, they're that good and go down so easily. As far as prices go, they're pretty competitive with an average chain's cost for a dozen. But factor in the fact that they throw in a few extra donut holes with a dozen, then it's like you're getting a bigger bang for the buck, even before you're reminded of how much better their quality is. Anyway, this place was a fantastic find, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who's in the mood for quality donuts, wants to support local business, or both. These are the types of places that really should thrive, but it's up to customers to spread the word and make sure that they don't go anywhere, any time soon. read more

Stumbled across this place while out car shopping and what a wonderful surprise! I couldn't makeup my mind but finally decided on the maple bacon donut and a ham amd cheese crossiant. Donuts are yummy and lite! My Mom and I dropped in for a sausage, egg, and cheese with cream cheese on a cinnamon raisin bagel. I paired it with an Elixor and Apple Juice. Bonus, they added a few donut holes! The bagel was pretty fulfilling and well portioned. I probably will opt out of the cream cheese. Not to mention, the service is great! This is the 4th time in a week that I have arrived at 0600 and the cashier tells me I have to wait 10-20 minutes for glazed donuts. This location is located on Cobb parkway right next to the WT gas station and Bojangles. The shop is on a slip with a few parking spots nearby. The parking can be confusing because all the area is painted as parking, so you can't drive around the parking lot. It is one way in and out. We came in on a Sunday around 10:00. A few items were already sold out, like their blueberry and apple fritters, maple bacon donut and maple icing donut. It can be a good flavor change from Krispy Kreme. However, there donut can be greasy and some has a old grease taste. This is why I took off one star. We tried a verity of their donuts. And the crumb cake and strawberry icing ones are our favorites. The restaurant just recently increased the product prices, please refer my photos in the review. They offer 4 coolers of milk, soft drinks and coffee in the shop. And they serve other breakfast items, like bacon cheese egg sandwich here as well. The shop is very popular and has a interesting story. They said they won the war between them and the Dunkin' next door, and that Dunkin' is out of business less than 1 year. We will definitely go back to grab more delicious donuts. MMMMMMMMMMMM! Fresh donuts! I am never on this part of Cobb Pkwy just so happened I was forced to take this route because of all the construction on 75. I caught a glimpse of this place and immediately turned in. I got a few of the glazed, sour cream, and donut holes. I was pleasantly surprised at how fresh and pillowy they were. All for around $3. It's basically commonly accepted that out of Krispy Kreme, Dunkin, etc, nothing comes close to touching Tip Top Donuts. Yes, they're a little more expensive, but they're just much better in quality and taste. I rather enjoyed this donut spot. I found myself comparing it to places like Dough in the Box because it has a very similar "mom and pop" feel with great donuts, tasty sandwiches and friendly employees. All that comes complete with an old-timey eatery vibe far flung from the cutesy, hipster shoppes that are so popular today. When we walked in we were greeted with a smile and told that the special of the day was a dozen donuts for $6, what a steal! So, of course, even though we arrived with the idea that we would only get 2 donuts each, how could anyone pass up that deal? We piled our box high with glazed, chocolate, Apple fritters, cake donuts, twists and more and squealed in delight (or, like the pigs we were). We also ordered some sandwiches, my wife had an egg and sausage on a croissant and I had the same but on a bagel. The sandwiches were hot, laden with melted cheese and very tasty. Combine them with a cold juice and a hot cup of coffee and what more could you ask for? They also came out from the back kitchen area very quickly. We decided to sit and eat in their dining room which was clean and nice. Strictly for comparison to dough in the box: I'd say, overall that DITB's donuts are slightly better but Tip Top makes better sandwiches. However, the apple fritter at Tip Top knocked my socks off! The only thing that kept me going on that ugly ass mountain is the thought of tip tip donu on way home. I've been driving past this place for a year now and had to stop in and see what the hype is about! This parking lot is always packed. The line was longer than I expected but it moved quickly. I consider them classic flavor but not savory extreme as some of the other new creative donut options out there. They had a Blueberry Fritter which was unique but good. Their cream filled was also excellent. 4.5 star for the donuts. I would say the 5 stars is given partially because of attitude and service. The owner helped us and she was super friendly. I mentioned the Dunkin next door, and she didn't care at all. Just shrugged them off and was real chill about it. Tip Top Donuts is a cute little business with a nice free standing store that looks like it could be a home. It's right next to an INN which makes lines a little long at peak breakfast hours! Doughnuts are little, light, and fluffy. If you think you only need 1/2 a dozen, you are wrong. Always get a dozen. I could have easily pounded down like 6 on my own but had to share. They have sugar donuts, crumb cake, sourdough, your standard chocolate and strawberry frosted, some sprinkle items. I think prices are really good and wouldn't mind stopping here on the regular. The two women helping us out were very kind and sweet but most importantly SUPER efficient in taking care of the long lines. The lines may look long, but they move quickly.
