    Shawarma Plate
    Erin S.

The little restaurant is inside a market with Israeli goods. It feels like little Israel! There's parking out front, but if there are no spots available, there's more parking at the back of the building. I ordered with the cashier and when it was ready, my food was on the counter by the takeout window next to the cashier's counter. There's a small area with tables and chairs, plus a counter, for dining in. For the pastries, you get a styrofoam container or a paper bag, then use the tongs. You bring it to the cashier, show them what you got, and then pay. I got the Shawarma Platter ($19) with rice. It came with Israeli salad, hummus, and tahini. It was delicious, but I also tried the Shawarma Sandwich on pita ($16), and I thought that was even better. Every pastry I've had has been delicious. Highly recommend just trying them all! Not sure about individual prices, but I got 6 pastries and it came out to about $10-$11. Highly recommend! Can't wait to go back!

    Schwarma

There isn't much competition, but I'll say this is the best schwarma I've had south of DC. I ordered at essentially a takeout counter within a kosher/Israeli market, then waited in a semi-enclosed eat-in area, sipping my citrus Israeli drink of some kind as a few minutes passed before my pita was delivered. It was good, but it seemed like grilled chicken rather than a mix of chicken and lamb like I can get up in Wheaton, Maryland, at Max's Kosher Deli. The fixings were okay, but also didn't compare that well to the way Max's spoiled me (I swear, they have the best schwarma/falafel outside of Israel, where it's super common - and before you say something, I'm aware that it's of Arab origin, but I haven't had a better Arab version). A few people sat around me, mostly speaking Hebrew, with a television on a Hebrew station. I enjoyed the sandwich, but I was hoping to find something to compare to what I used to eat back home, and this wasn't that.

Very classic retro style place. The smell the decor very nostalgic of the 90s. The menu is pretty much self explanatory and there are monthly daily specials and kids eat a full meal for no more than $5 for a sub chips drink annnd cookie. Your local fast food doesn't even come close. Neither of the sandwiches had cheese, that I specifically added and paid additional. Upon calling to inform that neither of my sandwiches had cheese, not knowing what was the condition of the sandwiches and salads I dropped off at the dog groomers, I was met with "you can come back if you want for another sandwich". Ummmm..... try listening to the consumer. Credit them back the extra they payed that they didn't get. I even tipped $20 cash for just over $100 tab. I'm not driving 45 minutes for a sandwich that could have just been solved with a simple credit back, but sadly, this management is not capable of doing such a simple task. Very poor service and will not patron this establishment going forward. Shameful service.

The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, perfect for a laid-back meal with friends or family. They're known for hearty subs, and the Philly cheesesteak, juicy, well-seasoned, and served on a generous roll that soaked up all the flavor beautifully. Portions are generous, so you definitely get your money's worth. I also tried the Pastalaya with chicken, which were flavorful with great seasoning and cooked perfectly. The variety on the menu is excellent too, everything from Italian hoagies and pasta classics to salads and soups, so there's something for everyone. Service was very friendly and efficient, and prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. Would definitely recommend stopping in for a satisfying lunch or casual dinner. Plenty of free parking in and around the restaurant. The Mad Italian first opened in Atlanta way back in 1973 and they have been going strong in Chamblee, GA ever since 1981. Their original location in Chamblee closed within the past ten years or so and they have a pretty much brand new spot literally about two doors down on Savoy Drive. Fantastic, modern restaurant facility. Unbeatable location. Top notch service. Friendly ambience that feels like home. Excellent service. And the best food you can get for the price.

Longer version: I ordered pulled pork sandwich, fries, drink and they gave me a free cookie. Tots were h-o-t and fresh. Great portion of pork on a bun and wrapped in a foil type paper. Included all 4 sauces that were packaged perfectly as to not spill. Meat was expertly seasoned, moist but not so much it made the bun a sopping mess. Met the owner Clarissa and her husband. The cook is a little slow but I'm chalking it up to a lunch time crowd. The grilled chicken salad was ordered over and over to the point that they sold out by 12:15. We'll definitely return.

This place gets busy and the parking lot does not accommodate that reality at all. It's at a very busy intersection with oddly placed entrances. But patrons make it work, and the quality keeps people coming regardless of how crazy the parking gets. I learned recently that Henri's is quite an Atlanta institution, and has been around for a loooong time. But I understand why. The service is great, regardless of location. The baristas actually like to talk to you even during the morning hustle. They are well-staffed and you can tell their employees like working there. Sharon is awesome, and the guy who mans the sandwich station is REALLY good at his job. The inside is kept clean, and it's a really calming environment for a coffee shop. Whoever designed their cafes did a great job, as the theme is consistent in their sister locations. I really have no complaints about the food. The meat is fresh. The bread is fresh. They make many of their bakery items at an HQ and locally distribute them to their sister locations. The pastry section is well-appointed and the display makes them very tempting. The Reuben with pastrami is *CHEF'S KISS*. Just make sure you get it on a more durable bread, because the sauce can get a little messy and make the sandwich soggy. I'm sad to report that they do not serve matcha here yet. But the chai latte and standard latte was delicious with a nice, thick layer of foam on top. They even have sugar-free syrup options for people looking to curb the sugar. They do have high-chairs for the babies. Love this place. They just do it right.

The parking situation is kind of weird: the lot is blocked off on one end so it's awkward going in and out. Haven't had one I didn't like yet. There's a special place in my heart for the media noche though. Their fried foods aren't insanely greasy and carries the actual FLAVA other than oil. They use queso fresco in their cheese empanadas which is kind of a big deal for caribeños (even if by marriage lmao). ~ Sidenote: For the love of God, do not serve me an empanada with reg-deg bagged mozzarella... EEYUCK! Once you have that queso fresco babyyyy you cannot turn back. ~ Anywho, the chicken empanadas were kinda of tough to eat but still flavorful. I'd stick to cheese and beef. YUUUUGE servings of tostones, but they're kind of skimpy with the yuca in my opinion. I won't complain though and just order double when the time calls for it LOL. Getchu some!
