IM HERE FOR THE AMAZING MINDY. All these raving reviews are TRUE. I found this place on yelp and decided to try it out. I've had some bad experiences with manicures before (miscommunications, surprise costs at the end, poor quality work) and did a lot of research this time. I call for a walk in. When I arrive, I see a woman in the parking lot heading towards this salon and asked her what she thought of it. She told me she drives all the way from South Orange county to come to this place because it's so good! So going in I felt good.. This was my first time getting tips+gel and Mindy was so patient in explaining the entire process to me, pros and cons of gel vs acrylic, nail care etc. She even had one of her coworkers give me a more in-depth explanation so I could make an informed decision. Everyone working at Tip Top was extremely polite, professional, skilled and pleasant. Mindy really took the time to make my nails perfect and asked me if I liked their shape, length, color, thickness etc with each step along the way. She even tolerated me changing my gel color midway thru (I'm the worst about that). As I sat there anothe woman came in and told me she's been coming here for three years and won't go anywhere else and NOW I SEE WHY. My nails went from stiletto to coffin. They are not busy here they are really nice. I feel like the polish job could have been a little bit better. As far as my shape it is consistent and the color is lovely. I do feel as if I didn't pick the right color. As it is uneven and a bit bumpy but the camera doesn't pick it up. My nail technician, who never gave me her name, was very insistent on me doing gel nails when I had asked for just a normal manicure. I later asked if she could do an ombré on my nails with just a normal manicure but she pretty much ignored me since I had denied her request to do a gel manicure for me. I asked her then to leave my nails long since I had grown them out, but she cut them too short. She was overall very rude and while my very standard manicure was acceptable, I won't be coming back again. I came with another friend who enjoyed her full set, which another nail technician had done beautifully, though, and I'm glad at least most of the staff was friendly. read more

Went to get a pedicure and acrylic fill. The pedicure was mediocre with a completely pointless "massage" where all she really did was just rub lotion on my legs and feet. I could do that to myself for free. The woman who did my nails didn't use enough top coat do there were streaks in almost every nail. They only reason they're getting 2 stars instead of 2 is because my toes looked decent in the end. read more

My sister and I were looking for a place to get our nails done just for fun. It was my first time ever going to a nail salon. I read about this place on yelp actually. We set an appointment and got there ten minutes early and they started working on us right away. My sister got a gel mani-pedi. I got just a gel manicure and it was amazing. The chairs are comfortable, there's relaxing music, and a TV playing movies in case you don't want to awkwardly stare at your manicurist. There is a wonderful staff of Vietnamese women. They will talk to each other in Vietnamese so don't get paranoid. I didn't know my nails could look this beautiful. I had Jenny as my manicurist. She asked me what I wanted and did it exactly that way. At the end there was a bonus arm and hand massage which was probably my favorite part. The only negative part was the UV light for drying nails was a little harsh in my skin but that's because it was my first time. And at the end a loud obnoxious woman came in for an appointment and I got to hear her whole life story. But the business has no control over that. Overall, exceptional experience. I have been looking high and low for a place that will live up to the price of a gel manicure. This shop is less than a mile from my house and they are amazing. Kelly is the best but her crew is stunning. I've had flawless nails both trips to the shop and feel so relaxed and welcomed. They do their best to know everyone's name, accommodate and fit everyone in. My first visit was on a Sunday, when they close at 5. I arrived at 4:15 for gel mani-ped and was not turned away. Kelly said, show up anytime before we close and we will take you. That's service, something a lot of other places lack, that's for sure. I'm (very) picky and I've found a great place. This has been my go to nail salon for over 5 years. I've tried other nail salons but I always find my way back here. Throughout the years I've always had such great service whether it's a simple manicure or nail art done by the very talented Jenny. She is amazing! All the girls here are very sweet, talented, and super funny. They have a great selection of beautiful colors but I usually go in with something in mind or a picture of what I want. These girls will not let you go home with disappointing nails. Whether they need to ask someone else to do the design you will get what you want and trust me when I say you will not be disappointed. I called in to schedule for a regular manicure (not gel) with design. I asked if Jenny was available, but the lady said Jenny is out on leave so I asked if there's another nail technician who could do the design I wanted as I explained in detail what the design was. The lady on the phone was confident that they could do it so I went in. The moment I sat down and showed the lady the picture of the design she looked puzzled and then began to take my phone with the picture on it to her colleagues who are with other customers showing them the design. When she returned, I told her if she doesn't think she can do the design that it would be fine and I can just get my nails cut and shaped with no manicure. She insisted she can do it and then started on my nails. Don't get me wrong, the lady who did my nails was nice but 1) she resisted cutting my nails shorter because it would be harder for her to do the design on my nails 2) the result of the design wasn't exactly what I was looking for but was a nice attempt despite the very heavy layers of nail polish. She was very proud of her work and took a picture to share with Jenny. After getting back from vacation, I tried to remove the nail polish at home and it wasn't budging. That's when I called the salon and spoke with a Tasha. I explained to her that I can't remove the polish and she confirmed back that it was gel polish. This was shocking because I never get gel nails nor do I know how gel nails are done. I specifically avoid gel nails and even told the lady who took my appointment that I wanted regular polish and then re-confirmed back that I do not want gel nails when the lady asked if I wanted to do gel. Tasha then said that they can remove the gel for me for their standard $5 price. Not only did they already use gel and charged me the gel price, a service I did not ask for and purposely avoid in order to not damage my nails (side note, I was shocked with the $45 price at the end of my visit but I thought that was the price for a custom design), now she was making me come in and pay for the removal. After trying to get Tasha to understand the situation again she told me to come in and they would do it free of charge. Went into the salon and now Tasha questions me asking if I am sure I came into their salon to do my nails. I said yes, and that the lady who did my nails even messaged Jenny a picture of my nails that day. When that excuse didn't work, a girl that was there during my visit said that I called and scheduled a gel nail appointment. They are all over the place with their lies at this point. First trying to say I'm at the wrong salon yet the girl slips up and confirms I was there by lying about the appointment I called in for. By now Tasha knows that they are making matters worse and removed the gel for me. Finally, after paying more for a service that I always try to avoid when occasionally getting my nails done in order to not damage them, I ended up with scratched up nails in the end after the removal process. Long story short, 1) if Jenny isn't available if you want a design, just wait to do it with her 2) make sure they are not trying to make you pay more for something you don't want. After all of this, no one felt apologetic. If they had approached it differently without trying to pin the customer as a liar, my approach to this review would've been different. read more

Love this place!! I should have known this was going to be a good place when I walked in on a late Saturday afternoon and they were still packed (almost all the chairs were full). I didn't wait long even though I didn't have an appointment. Once they sat me down, I was able to enjoy the nice massage on their excellent massage chair. The girl who gave me a pedicure did not speak much English but she was nice and very thorough. I don't have anything negative to say about tip top nails. The location is a bit small with not much parking but the salon itself is very clean. The salon ladies are all wearing matching aprons that they said we're home made which I thought was very cute. They have a large selection of nail polish colors and gel colors. It's $12 for a manicure with regular nail polish and $25 for a gel manicure which i think is average but you could get it cheaper if you go to sassy nails on El Camino Real and Newport Avenue. I went during my lunch break and my gel manicure took 50 minutes. I imagined it would take shorter time but for some reason it dragged on. I think they were just trying to make sure they were doing a good job on my cuticles. I hadn't had a manicure in a while so my nails needed lots of tending to. The ladies were nice I didn't feel like they were talking crap about me to one another in Vietnamese they smiled a lot and were extremely friendly. read more

Although there were customers with each person working, I was seated almost immediately for a pedicure and my friends were seated moments later for manicures. I've been a walk in client here for a while now as I trust them to do a good job. I'm rarely disappointed. They are fast, efficient and their pedicures last for three plus weeks. For $18 its a nice treat. They are always kind and welcoming although this last visit I could tell there was much talk about something related to me when I came in.
