My husband always says "don't believe the Yelp reviews!" He was right and I don't know how this place positive reviews. I came on an afternoon and there was one customer in a spa chair. I asked for a basic mani ($20) and pedi ($25) and was helped immediately. I was asked if I wanted any upgrades (gel, callous removal $7), but i declined. All i I wanted was to relax in a chair and get my nails done. The chair didn't have any massage features. I wasn't told any ways. I was sitting so close to the pedicure lady that my knees were up to my face. Very uncomfortable start. Eva did my mani and helped me pick a color. She did a decent job. After she was done, she whipped out an accordion fan and fanned my nails to dry. This place has zero electric FANS! The lady who did my pedicure (she doesn't wear a name tag) is probably in her late 50's with heavy makeup and fake eyelashes is horrible! She cut my skin (see photo), lazy in scrubbing my feet or massaging my calves and feet. She is extremely aggressive and the pedicure was torturous. After she was done and BEFORE MY NAIL POLISH WAS DRY, She put my sandals back on, lifted up the arm rest of the spa chair and i was motioned to move to the loveseat by the door. The paint of my right big toe was ruined and she had to re-paint it. As I sat on the love seat, I was fanning my toes with my cell phone so I could get out of there! The pedicure lady saw that, gave me another accordion fan and said "sorry I'm too busy to fan." I gave Eva a 20% tip and the pedicure lady $0. There was a young lady sitting in the chair, being helped by this same pedicure person. I mouthed to her that the pedicure was bad and I've already told 3 people to avoid this place! This place is horrible. With so many other nail shops, I don't recommend and I won't be coming back.
The one star is for Lisa who gives a great pedicure. But I got a fill 5 days ago and it's the worst of my life! After she completed the fill portion, which was lumpy, bumpy and messy as all get up, she tried to paint. There were divets and cracks and I could not believe she was willing to let me pay for it! I finally said, this looks totally unprofessional- like my 12 year old son did it! She blamed the gel nail polish...took everything off and started over. 2 hours later, My nails are all different lengths and going in different directions and shapes. I had to go with an almost clear color to camouflage the horrific job....it looked like my nails had grown out a week when she finished. I also told her to keep my length and I ended up with short, thick nubs. I honestly don't know how she sends clients out the door like this. When I got home, my daughter said, "mom! Don't you remember the same thing happened to me!? You can't go to tip top!!!" I wish I had better reviews but I've been so furious about the fact that I paid good money for a HORRIBLE job. Save your money eye and your sanity....go elsewhere. I wish I could get my money back.
I really trusted the yelp review but I feel deceive. My girlfriends and I went in for three pedi and two full set. The pedicure was great even though we waited an hour or so before each person was served. We were patience until the lady did my nails. She half fast them and agreed she can do the design I asked. The nails were bumpy & lumpy, crooked, uneven and i asked multiple times if she can reshape it. I felt her becoming annoyed. Once I looked at the sample, it wasn't great so I asked if I can change to only a solid color since I been in the chair for almost 2.5 hours. My friend didnt even get her nails done. Not even 20 minutes of leaving the nail salon, the nails are lifting and popping off. I paid $55 bucks for these. To top it all off, I understood everything they said at the salon. I felt like they were disrespectful and unprofessional. Worst nail experience I ever had.
When I got my nails done, everything was fine. A little bit of a wait but they had me soak my feet so I didn't mind at all. Service was fine, nothing memorable and nothing horrible. I'm just peeved because I should have went with my gut when I saw one of the reviews stating they don't have clean tools, because now I am pretty sure my middle fingers nail is infected. It hurt a bit the next day and didn't think anything of it because I got my cuticles cut, but now there's pus coming out of that finger on the side where the cuticles were cut. I've gotten my nails done a billion times and this has never happened before. Moral of story, DONT COME HERE. Better yet I hope they change their act and start sterilizing their tools. Gross.
Called about an hour before close to ask if they could fix a broken acrylic nail for me (the acrylics were done at a different salon and the breakage was totally my fault-- don't try to open things with your nails!) They told me I could come over right then. I went in and the lady who was working on me (didn't catch her name) started working on removing the acrylic. She used a nail tip to pry off part of the acrylic which seemed strange and really hurt. I should have stopped after she took the original acrylic off my nail, but I let her try to put a new acrylic on instead. She got the tip and the acrylic on but when she started filing the nail it broke again. I tried telling her to just take the acrylic off but she tried to glue the loose part back onto my skin. It broke again shortly after. All of this was extremely painful but I was trying to just get through it. Once I convinced her to just take the acrylic off, she cut the nail down and had me put it in acetone. This was extremely painful because of all the trauma to my nail and I had to take it out immediately and was holding back tears. She cut the nail down a bit more and let me go. I now have a short, jagged nail with acrylic left on and I am still in a lot of pain hours later. Once I go get the nail professionally removed, I will also need to get it checked for infection. I do appreciate that they did not charge me for this encounter.

First and foremost this is only my second time being here; but I've loved this place since the first time I came. I recently got engaged and needed my nails done, you know for the picture lol. & I cannot stop looking at them: they are just so gorgeous!!! I called about an hour before closing time and they took me in right away. She was kind enough to take some pictures for me after my new set was done but of course had to take my own later also. They have you fill out a COVID screening form and they won't let you enter unless you have a mask on. They check your temperature also and each desk is separated from the nail tech by a clear divider. I also learned they offer haircut/ styling services! read more

Jenny is amazing and so nice! She is gentle and didn't hurt or damage my nails or cuticles. They were really sturdy, didn't lose any nails or breaks. It's a little pricey but worth having someone who knows what they are doing. Would highly recommend read more

Ok so being tired of my normal place taking soooo long to do my gel acrylic nails I decided to try somewhere new. Walked in without appt. Was seated in 5min. Let me say I am sooo impressed. Got a pedicure and full set. The pedicure was amazing with 5min massage on feet even w a stone and hot towels. And Michelle was amazing w my nails. Most places if i say I want short try to talk me out of it. She understood and followed through. Then introduced me to the cat eye gel color! OMG I'M AMAZED! I loved it awesome color with built in design. Paid 45 for full set and 18 for pedi. I'm so happy. I will be back! Customer for life! read more

It's so hard to find a good nail salon, and when you find a good one you have to stick with it! I can honestly say that my last 5 mani/pedi trips here have been great! I've had different ladies each time and so far no complaints about anyone. I usually get a basic spa pedi, and gel mani's that last about 3 1/2 weeks before I need a redo. They take their time and I've never felt rushed - even during the busy hours. Only 4 stars because on 3 occasions I had to wait 15 min AFTER arriving on or before my appointment time, which can be frustrating. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. NOT CLEAN AND PAINFUL. I was hesitating to write a review, but I had to now that two of my nails are throbbing with a pulsating-like in PAIN. Given the place had so many rave reviews, I wanted to give them a try. I recommend Irvine Nails Spa, Essence Nails, Nailtique in Irvine. They have great service, they are very clean, and have a great collection of polishes. If you are willing to make the drive Jeanie at Lotus Nail Spa is my go-to for over three years now. Cleanliness 2 out of 5 Friendliness 3 out of 5 Nail Color Selection 4 our of 5 Price 4 out of 5 It is absolutely messy and not clean at all here. The pillows were not covered with a towel for each visit so all of our dead cuticles and skin cells are all over those things. They use seran wrap (the one for Foods) for the callus remover and instead of one for each foot, they reuse it on the other foot! One of the brushes, the manicurist used to clean off excess polish had some weird old gunk on it! It wasn't even clean! None of their tools were steam cleaned, and this is where I should've walked out immediately. Looking around the place, it is covered in dust and dirt. It doesn't look like they have had a deep cleaning in a long time. I started to get really nervous in my chair. I got a gel manicure with matte top and two rockstar glitters + basic pedicure with a $5 add-on for callous remover. In total, it was $58 before too which is cheaper than most places. I normally pay about $65. The glitter rockstar is where you dip your finger in the glitter powder twice and then shake off excess. My fingers were dipped at least 5 times with polish in between. I told the manicurist my nails are burning and she said I'm just sensitive, because her polishes are organic. My two nails with the rockstar glitter are hurting so bad, I now have to go to a salon during my lunch to get them removed and redone. Just two nails, the matte black nails are okay. Not the best paint job, but the shape is okay. read more

FINALLY SOMEONE WHO CAN DO NAIL ART BY HAND! JENNY is extremely talented and makes you feel really comfortable. I've been trying to find somewhere they do any design I ask for. Jenny is amazing she did the designs on my nails in less than 5 mins! It was amazing to watch her get every detail to make the nail pop. I left very happy and that never happens! Especially since it was Friday the 13th yesterday and I wanted my nails to be creepy but cute at the same time! I've been getting so many compliments on my nails! I'm sending all my friends and family to Jenny. She is extremely talented the painting on the walls are done by her! So happy I found a place where I will feel comfortable asking for any design. Ok so I only made a Yelp account 2 years ago to give Tip Top Hair and Nails a review bcuz I loved them so much and 2 years later here I am still deeply in love with their service Seriously there has never been a time where I have left unhappy with my nails or service. All of the girls are always so sweet and eager to help you. You are always greeted with a smile and always acknowledged when you leave with a thank you! Jenny is still my go-to girl for my acrylics, and she has never let me down! Quinny is my go-to for my pedicure and my Brazilian wax. I love these two women to death. They always make me feel at home and they go above and beyond to ensure their clients are happy and satisfied. From what I witness when I'm there the other ladies do as well, I've witnessed with my own eyes, them asking and asking again step by step if clients are happy with the shape of their nails, the length, the color I mean you name it, "are you sure the water is ok", "would you like another pillow" "can I get you anything" I truly feel pampered when I'm there. Quinny is amazing with my pedicure, I wear heels all day at work and get ingrown nails, she is so gentle but so effective at removing them so I'm not in pain. Same goes for my brazilian wax, I'm in and out so fast and with very minimal discomfort, I'm so happy with her work, I wouldn't trade her for the world. They are so flexible with appointments as well, if you call they will do whatever they can to squeeze you in! I never understood people who walk in and get upset bcuz they cannot be seen right away. I've seen their appointment book, they are booked solid on most days. My advice? Just call and make an appointment. Easy-peasy. I've posted all of the pictures I could find, as you can see I've gone longer and longer every time lol, but only bcuz Jenny takes such great care of them. I'm seriously complimented on my nails on a daily basis and Jenny is such a talented artist, she always gets what my vision is and she always makes sure you're happy before you leave. read more

I'm always hesitant in trying new nail salons because I feel like I overpay for mediocre service, however this was not the case with Tip Top Nails. I was able to schedule same day appointment with Jenny and on a Wednesday at 4 with no problem. Jenny was very meticulous with my gel manicure and made sure I was happy with every step and even asked if I would like anything fixed at the end! My previous manicurists usually exclaim, "Beautiful!" and sent me off. So I appreciate her following up her service with me.That's what I call customer service! I didn't catch the lady who did my pedicure, but I was also very happy with her service. Price range for this salon is fair. Language is definitely not a barrier. Plenty of parking. This review is long overdue. I have been to A LOT of nails places in my life and I haven't found anyone like Jenny. I wish I could give her more than 5 stars, she does my nails perfectly every single time. She is very creative, careful, detail oriented and just gets what I want. Every time I bring a picture or an idea in, she does it even better. I honestly won't get acrylics done anywhere else. The salon is clean and they have a lot of colors (regular & gel) to choose from. Make sure you make an appointment with her, she fills up FAST. If you can't get Jenny, Michelle is awesome too, she does my roommates nails and they always look amazing. Thank you Jenny!! Scheduled an appointment in advance with Jenny after reading reviews on Yelp, and I was not disappointed! I didn't have to really check in at all while she did my nails. All the nails are the same shape, height, and width...which made me happy, so I could just relax. I had Linda for my pedicure and she was great as well. I think I paid about $80 something for nails with builder gel/tips/design + a pedicure special that had a massage. It's not the fanciest salon I've been to, but to be honest, I could care less since the quality is great. There was also no pressure to upgrade to anything, which was nice as well. The prices are fair and competitive, so I definitely will be back. read more

I usually go to a nail salon in Costa Mesa but decided to give this place a try since it's closer to my house and has great Yelp reviews. Walked in (no appointment), with a friend, last Sunday at around 4:15pm and asked for a mani + pedi. They asked us to wait until staff was available to do the service. We waited for about 10min before being seated. I got gel acrylic nails and a regular pedi. The nail technician was very friendly but I am not sure if she was rushing to finish since they close at 5pm on Sunday's (they officially got done with our nails at around 5:25pm). I requested coffin style nails and later noticed that a couple of my nails didn't have the same shape or fit. I am very disappointed with the outcome and will instead drive a bit further to my usual nail spot. If you are giving this place a try, (1) don't go an hour before closing if you are getting multiple services that require time (2) check nail shape/fit throughly read more

Let me start off by saying the positive. The three stars are for good service. The new owner is super welcoming and sweet and offered me water and stayed after closing. I used to be one of Jenny's clients but I recently found out she doesn't work here anymore when I called to make an appointment. I was hesitant making an appointment w any other nail tech but the person told me on the phone that the other ladies were just as good so I said "why not? Let's give it a chance" So I made an appointment for a full set with Michelle. I'm taking off one star because she cut me three times. I'm taking off another star because the full set was not up to my expectations. I was getting my nails done for my birthday and opted for an ombré with a design that ended up being $55. At first glance it looks good but after looking for longer than a couple seconds, you can see the dip just looks thick and bulgy. I know I'm not being too picky because other people including my boyfriend noticed. Also, the acrylic is left over my nail bed and the tips she used didn't look like they fit my fingers. There were so many small flaws that could be avoided if there were more attention to detail. I was disappointed to pay over $60 for a new set that did not meet my standards. read more

I'm so hyped about my nails! Tip Top has been my go-to salon. Every time I go back with a harder design, they kill the game! These nails by far are my favorite! I had my nails done by Linda and the design was done by Jenny. Jenny is the best when it comes to nail design! Bring in a nail design idea & she'll make it 10 times better! I often get my nails done by Michelle and she does an amazing job every time. She takes her time cleaning around the cuticles & will re-do my nails if they don't look right. It shows that the workers here care & want you to leave happy! read more

Ok seriously if you need a hair cut or a color GO TO TINA!! She did so much for me it was amazing she fixed my hair and did such a great job at it :) I had a terrible experience spending 80 bucks to get an ombré done somewhere else and it was bad. Well I showed her a picture of what I wanted (brown hair blonde highlights) and she did it to perfection! She even trimmed the bottoms as I am trying to grow my hair out, and dried my hair so I wasn't walking ou with wet hair. I've sent my boyfriend and his sister to Tina and they both liked her too. She told me she's been doing this for 17 years. Well awesome job Tina! And I'll be coming back soon!! Update!!!--- just got my nails done here today and again they did great!! read more
