Had problem with AC, took car in at 9am, didn't get it back till 1pm. Guy only ran diagnostics and tried to charge us $280 when they couldn't even fix problem. $280 to tell us to go to a dealership. When complained brought the price down to $112. Wasn't impressed, don't go here, go someplace else. $112 is still a lot to run diagnostics and do nothing else. read more

Just a fair warning - I'd suggest NEVER taking a vehicle to Tire Choice near Target in Hillcrest. We took our vehicle for a nail patch. They said they could not patch our tire that we needed a new tire because they found foam in the tire. We ordered a new tire with them. Stopped to get something out of vehicle and my rim is scratched all up. After I pointed the scratched him which was the flat one out they refused to work on the vehicle. It sat there for 4 days to only have to be brought to Firestone whom was able to get the tire replaced same day. My vehicle is only 5 months old and I have a picture of the flat tire before it went in to be fixed. Everyone, including the district manager, that works there is LIARS and talk in circles. No professionalism at all or accountability. I hope to save someone else a headache and their property being damaged. read more

They put it back on the rack and redid it. Now only a month later my two front tires are bald and one has a flat. I wish there was a zero stars option!!! I had submitted an appointment online for the Chesapeake location (about a week before that actual date) and there were no additional steps that it stated I needed to take except the note "We look forward to serving you!". So, the day comes of my appointment, I dropped my car off at 8am and told the front desk clerk that I was going to wait for my car after she'd asked me if I was dropping off or waiting. Then I said I'm going to go grab something to eat from a restaurant in the same shopping center. She said "ok, all I need are your keys". Great, right?! So, I go grab something to eat, maybe away for about 30min, and when I walked out of the restaurant , I looked in their parking lot and noticed that my car was in the same place I'd left it. I didn't think much of it since I received no call about any issues and just thought maybe they were running a little behind. I then walked into another store to buy a few more things, at this point a whole hour and 15 minutes had passed, then I left the store to walk back to Tire Choice. Lo and behold, what do I see, my car still sitting in the same spot. So, I walked in the store and asked the lady why my car was still in the same spot and not been worked on yet? She says, "oh, I was just about to call you. Did you place your appointment online?" I said, yes. She says "oh ok, well whenever you put in for an appointment online, it doesn't order your tires and we don't have your tires in stock. But we can have them in as early as tomorrow. Do you want to bring it back to then?" That chick never even offered an alternative such as another tire brand or anything to compensate me for her inadequacies and horrible service. Not to mention, she never once called me about any of this whatsoever!! Especially considering I was very close by!! I was soooooo mad that I couldn't even formulate a response properly because why the hell would you not have called me at ANY point before I got there considering I was within walking distance?????!!!! So I told her I will not bring my car back and I'm going to another company. She had the audacity to say "sorry about that." If this is how Tire Choice runs their business, if I were you I would stir clear of this place!!! That chick will cause for that company to lose a lot of customers and revenue. Buyer beware. The nightmare with this company continues. After, "THEY LOST THE TIRE KEY", they continued to try and blame not only me, but also my husband as we brought back the car for a third time. We spoke with customer service in the beginning, and the first time they didn't even offer a solve to their incompetence, and the second time they finally offered to pay for the replacement of the key THEY lost. As the tire continues to lose air, they are still shrugging their shoulder and swear they have no answers. So be WARNED...you may purchase tires, with a warranty, but they do not honor it!!! They have one good mechanic here who is the general manager. When he is not around, the place is an absolute disaster.. I was charged 1500 bucks for a part that cost 40 dollars and then I brought it to their attention and they said - oh that's my bad.. I appreciated they admit to their faults - but this is just plain horrendous service. Next, I was told that the vehicle would be ready at 10 am, 2pm and at 3 pm it was goin to be 25 more minutes..... this is my last visit at this place. I did read the reviews prior to coming here in hopes and curiously thinking perhaps the business owner has read these reviews with reference to the poor service. As I sit here in the waiting area I'm reading over the previous reviews and it's the same exact experience I've just had. I make an appointment for 0930. I'm told an hour and I'll be all set. It's an oil change and tire rotation. I arrive on time and drop keys off. Walk over to target and walk around. A little over an hour later I'm back over to check on my truck. It's sitting in same spot as I left it. Wow. So when I ask why the delay I'm told give us 10 more minutes. Needless to say it's been another 30 and still not done. You have lost any and all future business with me and prob the people that ask me about coming here. You have to have some sort of over-site on your scheduling. A complete overhaul of your front desk attendants and there responsibilities. You can't be double and triple booking time slots requiring customers to wait close to an hour or more over what you orig told them. Won't be back. UPDATE: I did want to add that I was offered a discount for services due to the delay and asked to give them another chance that they had scheduling issues earlier in day. read more

This place saved me! I got a screw in my tire and every single place I called was telling me they couldn't help for over a week. TQ had an appointment for the next morning. They took my car back right on time. When they found a patch was not going to work (which I had already figured) they immediately let me know that they had the size tire that I needed in stock. They were quick, forthcoming, and very nice. The manager was extremely customer-service oriented. Will definitely be back for future tire issues! read more

Drove there to be met by a sign on the door "No Inspector Today". Went inside to see person at service desk waited for five minutes for someone, no one came to the front desk. I had others look at it once realizing I was taken for and learned it to be true. I was told 11ft was replaced... very mechanic that looked at it told me no way!! They also said they would not have advised me of patching the line like they did, I was NEVER told they were patching it and not completely replacing it!!! Long Story customer service refused to believe me, even after I was willing to send them statements from other mechanics regarding the work. At the end of the day they refused to fix the mistake and told me to take my vehicle to another mechanic. Overall it cost additional $600! Update as of today the work they did on the brake line where they did not runt he new line all the way to the box, is leaking... Per customer service again we are not fixing. Criminal!!!! Ruined the thread on the wheel of my Mom's car. We had to break off the bolt and replace it. Got a quote to replace my tires and struts. Went in and they told me the only way I could get that price is to go to the back of the garage and pay the mechanic cash. Paid him forty bucks to change my shock spring and screwed it up. Great now I'm feeling like an idiot with no warranty. Wanted 20 bucks cash to switch out each tire. Took him 3 minutes. Jennifer and a mechanic (forgot his name :/)who stayed after hours went above and beyond! I was going to go to another shop because of previous bad reviews I seen from this shop, but I decided to give it another try and I'm very glad I did. Not only did she look at my car again despite the other shop having already looked at it, but she stayed after hours to service my vehicle and my terrible brakes, rotors , & calipers!!!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM especially if you live in Williamsburg VA. They are crooks without a mask. I paid them for a repair on my car and a year later the same noise I took it to them for starts all over again. Come to find out, they never fixed the original problem just put a "bandaid" on it and charged me almost $200. Because they never fixed the original problem the way they said they did, it caused my alternator to stop working. I took it to a real mechanic who showed me the part they "supposedly" fixed and he said there was no way they put a new part in my car the way it looked. I told him where I had it done and he said "Oh no! Don't ever go to them again. They will rob you!" Luckily he got me fixed and back on the road. We take our cars here for routine maintenance. I feel that they are knowledgeable and fair. When my daughter needed new tires they showed her the treads on the old ones and explained why they needed replaced. They easily except coupons and always seem quite friendly. Most important to me I don't feel like they try to overalls upsell us on items when we bring our cars in for inspections. Give them a try! read more

They said there was no wait and it would be a 45 minute turnaround at most. I asked them to give me a call when my vehicle was finished and that I would be waiting next-door at the retail store. An hour had passed with no call, 1hr 15 minutes, still nothing. 1hr 30mins later I walked back over to see if perhaps they had forgotten to call me. The person at the front could not find my keys or my paperwork. Went to the back to "see if they were done." I already knew what was coming. You see my car was in the same spot, parked the same way that I had left it an hour and a half ago. I've been doing business with this establishment for years and putting up with their "you need this and you need that" nonsense for quite some time. I understand they have to make money and selling $20 oil changes isn't going to cut it, but don't make stuff up. I took my daughter's Jeep Liberty there 6 weeks ago to have the oil changed. I knew it was low on oil, so I wasn't totally surprised when "Colby" called me. He told me it was very low and very filthy and he wanted to do an oil flush in addition to the oil change, plus some other sundry things. I told him just to change the oil and I would take care of the rest. He also told me that my daughter said she would just keep adding oil when it got low, but she obviously had neglected the car and that's something I would need to speak with her about. (I didn't ask for parental advice) So they "changed the oil and filter" and I had her drive it 9 miles to my mechanic. He called me and told me the oil was extremely filthy and the filter had road grit and grease on it. He doubted anything had been done, only some oil (and maybe not clean oil) had been added. I went by my mechanic's shop and he showed me the evidence. I could not believe that this Jeep would travel only 9 miles and turn new oil into sludge. Something didn't add up. When I called Colby to express my dissatisfaction, he became very defensive and told me that yes, the 9 miles would change it into sludge, it was that dirty. He also said he changed the filter himself and didn't use gloves that's why it was dirty. I told him I had a hard time believing this but he reiterated his stance. I then told him I was suspicious because of all the negative reviews on YELP, but he dismissed that as disgruntled customers and he had so much business now, he didn't have time to look at YELP. I had my mechanic change the oil and filter and when my daughter got back to college, some 300 miles away, she took a photo of the dipstick and that oil was still clean. So Colby can change it and it won't last 9 miles, but my mechanic changes it and it's still good after 300 miles. Go figure. If anything Colby get's an F in customer service. It wasn't about the cost of $27 it was about honesty and fairness and treating a customer like they would want to be treated. They've lost my business and I explained that in my letter to the corporate office. I have yet to hear back from them. Going forward, I'll pay more for an oil change, but it will be with someone I can trust. I'll post pictures of "Colby's Oil" and how "My Mechanics Oil" looked later. read more

This is a tough Yelp for me because the service I received was good but the service I witnessed wasn't. The lady behind the desk was polite, quick to serve and very professional. Unfortunately she's not the doing the work on the vehicles. The mechanics that do seemed to be a combination of those that work hard and those that stand around and tell stories as cars / customers back up. I understand if they were on a break, which didn't seem to be the case...but if it were don't stand around talking behind the counter ignoring calls and watching your workmates hustle around you. An oil change and state inspection that takes hours and then I'm told I need a thousand dollars of work! No! They are liars and scammers and in the end didn't even complete the oil change properly. When I checked under the hood my fluids weren't filled and screws were left awry. When I declined the supposed fix job I took a look at my fails and some didn't even correspond to the huge amount of work they wanted to do. I will never go back. I will warn my neighbors. It turned out I was at the wrong location but the friendly woman behind the desk said it wasn't a problem and got me in right away. This places deserves 5 stars due to customer service, efficiency, and price as it was very reasonable compared to their competitors. THIS TREAD QUARTERS IS AWFUL First, I'm a female. Went to this Tread Quarters to have a state inspection and my oil changed. They were nice at first. After a couple hours, I got a call from the guy at the counter. He told me the car failed state inspection due to a couple of lights and my brakes being worn, also he suggested I need to change the rotors as well. He also told me I used the wrong oil in it and it was so low and burned they had to decline changing it (IS THAT NOT WHY I NEEDED AN OIL CHANGE?). I told him I've only ever had my oil changed at Tread Quarters, to which he replied "Well not THIS one." Touche, sir. Last time was at the one on VB Blvd. While on the phone I spoke in a very mellow voice, never raised, never cussed. I told him I didn't need a lecture on changing the oil since I've never done it and only TQ has. His response? "There's no need to talk to me like that ma'am." What? Told him to slap on the rejection sticker and I'll take it from here. He then proceeded to tell me how dangerous it is to drive with my oil like it is and that the engine could freeze up at any time. "Do you want to be stuck on the side of the road when that happens?" PANDERING. I have AAA, and you can't scare me into your offer of $800+ repairs for some lights, brakes, and an oil flush. When I went back, I brought my MALE fiancee with me. The guy at the desk was suddenly much nicer. Somehow with my fiancee there they decided they CAN do the oil change. He explained things much more clearly to my fiancee, and even took him in the back to show him the problems. Fiancee agreed with me that the price for repairs - some of which weren't needed - was absurd and we'll take care of them ourselves. Total for the oil change and failed inspection: $71.34 Icing on the cake. When they gave me my car and I pulled out of the parking space, I noticed a cap from somewhere in the car on my hood. Went back in and put it on the counter. Counter guy said sorry, came out to fix it. Didn't know where it went, had to get a mechanic to come out and fix it. Pure laziness and ineptitude. I was SO insulted by the entire situation. They try to take advantage of, and even SCARE women into getting outrageously priced repairs as if we have no sense or ability to google how to replace a side light that's white and not amber. NEVER go here. I'm going to fix my car (I acknowledge there are a few things to be repaired) for a fraction of the price, then go to a different NON TREAD QUARTERS location to have the inspection done again. This was my first experience with Tread Quarters as I'm new to the area, but I wouldn't hesitate to patronize them again. I had a tire that could not be repaired due to side wall damage and a screw, and they were able to find two of the exact tires I needed to replace the damaged tire and its companion. I had initially attempted to get my tires fixed at the local Mercedes dealership, but was told that they had them on back order for six weeks. Tread Quarters was able to get the new tires for me the next day and went the extra mile to ensure my warranty claim was set up properly. True story: Had four new tires put on my vehicle. Plus, I was up-sold brake work. Over 5hrs later and $1200 later I was on the road. No more than 4 days later, my rear driver side pads and rotor had nearly burned away. Now being hours away from this location in FL, I was told by the sales associate to go to any certified mechanic and they'd honor the 90 day/4,000 miles warranty. As soon as the new mechanic spoke the the sales associate as this location he called the new mechanic a liar and refused to honor their company's warranty. I then immediately called customer service. Customer service had me send an invoice from the new shop. I haven't heard from them ever since. At the second shop, the mechanic discovered the hat bolt on the rotors were missing along with crush washers on the calipers. This is a huge safety issue. Those crush washers prevent leakage in the brake line. I could've lost my brakes, and been in an automobile accident. This is the worst experience I've ever dealt with in my life, from the lack of mechanical know-how to the overall poor customer experience. Save yourself the hassle, never go here. read more

I went there to have two new tires out on my vehicle to pass inspection. I had to return so they could put on the correct size tires. I discovered it due to my traction stability light coming on. When diagnosed at my normal mechanic they told me aboit the tires. They agreed to change the tires and told me I should have come back to them to get a reading for my sensor. I will never return to them. Tread quarters denied that the wrong size tire had anything to do with the light coming on. I won't waste my time them again. Not only did I have to wait a crazy amount of time to get the wrong tires put on. I got to listen to a worker ask medical questions of a customer. Very unprofessional place. read more

Eh. Okay so I took my 2013 Lexus up here for an oil change and told them that is all I wanted, I've taken it here before. I dropped it off before work and told them to just call me when it was ready, leave a voicemail because I will be at work. They say that they won't hassle you but I got probably 5 phone calls and voice mails from 2 different people telling me I needed to call them back. I'm thinking that only one voice mail would have been necessary to tell me my car was ready but when I called back they wanted to sell me tires. They said my car would not pass state inspection if I continued to drive with the tires on my car right now and that they are so worn down etc. (Keep in mind that my car has 44k miles on it and the tires are good until 65k miles... ALSO the Lexus dealership that I typically take my car to told me I would be good until 65k miles.. that's coming from a dealership that I would expect to try to sell me tires). I tried to get off the phone and tell them politely that I am at work.. the guy continues to talk and tell me their specials. I said I don't have $700 for tires.. he keeps talking I say I have to go and I hang up. I get 2 more calls and voicemails stating that they need me to call them back.. etc. Same cycle. When I go to pick my car up they proceeded to try to sell me tires again. HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY NO!? You people just don't get it... No means no! Unless you would like to put new tires on my car at your own expense? Be my guest. But they were rude and would not take no for an answer. I will never take my car back here. Pretty disappointed with my most recent experience! 2 stars only due to past experiences. I have been a loyal customer for almost a year now since moving to the area, have gotten many a oil changes easily. Yesterday, however my experience was very blah. Took my husbands car in to get work, a few weeks ago we got it an oil change where they told us things wrong with it. We knew it needed some things fixed so we waited a little once life slowed down a bit for us. We brought the car in and showed them their very own list they said of things wrong with the vehicle.. How ironic that a little while after dropping it off they call saying they found something else (of course an expensive something else! Ha!). Why was that not found upon their first "thorough" inspection? Anywho, once we declined that because they said it wasn't urgent and we decided to wait a little bit more to budget in for it since the car is not driven often anyways. Once we picked the vehicle up it drove worse than it did before we brought it. Engine light came on and there's nothing even going on with the engine! Sounds terrible and not like a car that just got $300+ work on it should be sounding. Absolutely terrible. Will be speaking with corporate on Monday hopefully but I absolutely advise you to NOT get service here, they clearly do not respect the military like they say since they had no problem ripping us off so nicely! My two children took their cars there to get a state inspection done and both cars failed. I had two other mechanics (one of whom was a state inspector) told me that they were completely incorrect about the problem with one car (a $1200 mistake) and a couple of issues on my son's car were outright scams per the State Trooper I spoke with. When I called to speak with the manager, he told me I was rude numerous times, a liar, and after asking for his name told me never to come back and hung up. I will be going back but this time with the State Police as they are the ones who monitor State Inspection Fraud. Please do not go to this store as they will try to rip you off and when questioned will try use scare tactics (the State Trooper's phrase) to force you into costly and unnecessary repairs. read more
