How to get to the inspection was a little confusing but as soon as we asked someone for assistance they pointed us in the right direction of where to go. I had not been to the establishment in almost 2 years. Im glad I had time to stop by there. It seems like there have been a few changes but I will say that the service is still fast as ever! I was appreciative how comfortable and assured the mechanic made me feel for my experience. He was able to get my car inspected efficiently and quickly while also giving me a heads up on some things I would have to start looking out for the rest of the year, and even suggestions. I've brought my vehicle here for an inspection and oil change now. The bad reviews on here kind of throw me off (and make me roll my eyes) because my perception is that this shop is just some honest folk looking for honest customers. I have been treated with the most pleasant attitudes and welcoming people (and kitties!) both services were incredibly quick and probably the best prices you'll find in the area for the quality of work and I thoroughly enjoyed letting them service my vehicle. I can guarantee that this is my shop of choice as my car gets older and requires more love. We came here at Ewell Tire Service for a state inspection. It was highly recommended by a family member, especially for inspections, so we decided to give it a try. We were informed that there's a long wait so it will be best to come in early. When we arrived, there were 9 cars ahead of us. Unlike the other auto shops or inspection shops, you have to stay with your car and wait for your turn. We waited for less than 2 hours for my car's turn to be inspected, which was not as bad as we thought it will be. When it was our turn, the inspector drove my car to the inspection stall. He checked the tires and recommended that I need to change the calipers and break pads for my rear tires. Unlike the other inspection shops, I did not feel like I was being ripped off because the inspector explained and showed us the problem clearly. We spent about $290 for replacing the rear driver side caliper, the break pads for my rear tires, and the state inspection. We think that the price was a reasonable price because we looked up the price for the parts online as well. The only thing that bothered me was that we were at the waiting area for almost 3 hours while waiting for my car to be fixed. It would be nice if the mechanic gave us an update on why it took a bit longer than the estimated time. They had a problem on getting the right part for my car that's why the wait time was long. Overall, we were impressed on how this auto shop. Their shop might look updated and old, but the service and price are great. We would be back here for inspections next year. read more

Worst shop to ever go to. Literally had to call the cops to retrieve my vehicle. They tried to charge me $600 for a $50 fix and then they cussed me out and threatened me when I asked for a itemized list of the parts replaced. Worst experience I ever encountered with ANYONE let alone a place where I'm bringing business. I wouldn't suggest them to work on a power wheel. If I could get this place a negative 5 stars then I would. read more

Friendly & quick service got my vehicle inspected & suggestions on future maintenance that wasn't just the fella trying to drum up business as he recommended other shops as well. I mean, I hope I don't have a need to go back until my state inspection next March, but still, they were polite & thorough. GET THERE EARLY!! HAHAHA That's my parting words of advice if you need a state inspection! If you can get there 10 minutes before they open I would recommend doing so. Told lady LF Tire sensor bad. My CAR I know my car. Lady doesnt listen/believe, thinks she knows it all. She swears it's RR bad and has kid replace sensor on RR. Afterwards it now read BOTH LEFT SIDES now not working. Lady gives up and leaves me with 2 sensors not working now says she won't charge me. Then I notice kid who used tire machine damaged about 3-4" of wheel lip by not lubricating the bead. Expensive Camaro ZL1 rims. I wouldn't recommend them or let them work on my bicycle now. They are incompetent. DONT RECOMMEND!!! read more

MY WHEEL FELL OFF OF THE VEHICLE WHILE I WAS DRIVING AWAY FROM BOB EWELL AFTER BRAKE SERVICE!!!! I recently took my 2018 Chrysler Pacifica to Bob Ewell to have the brakes evaluated for replacement. The vehicle has 78k miles and the brake pads/rotors are original. They recommended only replacing the front pads/rotors and told me that the rear pads had 80% life remaining and did not need replacing. After they finished the work, I went to pick up the vehicle. When I was driving away, I heard a rhythmic noise and decided to turn around to go back and ask them about it. As I was making a u-turn, the LEFT REAR WHEEL FELL OFF OF THE VEHICLE AND WENT ROLLING PAST ME as my van skidded to a stop with the brake rotor and suspension making contact with the asphalt. The owners (Danny and Lacy) were very apologetic and agreed to fix everything. They kept the vehicle for several more days, did not offer me a rental vehicle, and tried to do the bare minimum to fix it. I had to ask for them to have the wheel resurfaced when there was obvious physical damage to many parts of the wheel. Both Danny and Lacy told me multiple times how much the repairs were costing them and they became increasingly irritated with me as I continued to hold them accountable for fixing the damage that was caused to my vehicle as a result of it being at their shop. When I finally picked up the vehicle, it had vibrations that were not there before and I ended up taking it to the dealership to be looked over. The dealership said that the vehicle needed an alignment and the rear rotors and pads needed replacing. Their inspection showed heat damage on the rotors (understandable after 78k miles) and about 50% pad life left. I called Danny at Bob Ewell and asked if they would be willing to pay for the $130 alignment. He told me that I was trying to scam him and hung up the phone while I was still talking. There were many more issues that I don't have enough space to address here, but please save yourself the headache and DON'T TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO BOB EWELL!!! read more

My vehicle is an 2003 4Runner, that's been a beast but as they say all things eventually break. I took my SUV in and needed a new break line (4) tires, and (4) sets of breaks, oil change and new A/C compressor as well as a broken tire stud. Lacey and her husband not only saved me $$ they offer financing options that got me in and out the door with min. out of pocket expense. I've been dealing with this shop for years and the Gilmores are the new owners who have made major changes and upgraded the service here. My wife called this morning for our state inspections. The Lady on the phone told us to be there by 11:00 Am. I pulled up and my wife was behind me so we could get both vehicles done. At this time it was around 10:45am. I asked the group of gentlemen that were huddled up in the bay door where i need to go so we can start the inspection process and one of them stated they are done for the day. In response, I quoted what was said over the phone and their response was "it's Saturday and we are trying to get out of here." I stated what they are doing is false advertisement then one gentlemen shrugged his shoulders and said that has nothing to do with him. Sad part is, I would have started to do business with them for both my vehicles in the future if everything went well since I am new to the area and own a vehicle fleet service and trucking company.
