We came here at Ewell Tire Service for a state inspection. It was highly recommended by a family member, especially for inspections, so we decided to give it a try. We were informed that there's a long wait so it will be best to come in early. When we arrived, there were 9 cars ahead of us. Unlike the other auto shops or inspection shops, you have to stay with your car and wait for your turn. We waited for less than 2 hours for my car's turn to be inspected, which was not as bad as we thought it will be. When it was our turn, the inspector drove my car to the inspection stall. He checked the tires and recommended that I need to change the calipers and break pads for my rear tires. Unlike the other inspection shops, I did not feel like I was being ripped off because the inspector explained and showed us the problem clearly. We spent about $290 for replacing the rear driver side caliper, the break pads for my rear tires, and the state inspection. We think that the price was a reasonable price because we looked up the price for the parts online as well. The only thing that bothered me was that we were at the waiting area for almost 3 hours while waiting for my car to be fixed. It would be nice if the mechanic gave us an update on why it took a bit longer than the estimated time. They had a problem on getting the right part for my car that's why the wait time was long. Overall, we were impressed on how this auto shop. Their shop might look updated and old, but the service and price are great. We would be back here for inspections next year.

Bad customer service from auto mechanic. He was yelling and rude. He said one thing on the phone and something else in person.

I mean, I hope I don't have a need to go back until my state inspection next March, but still, they were polite & thorough.

I ended up being there for nearly 4 hours waiting for new tires to be put on my car, while they were very apologetic regarding how long it was and that a technician had called out. I understood as the staff was very polite and friendly.but waiting nearly 4 hours was unacceptable. When you only have so much time off, you plan everything out and this backed up my whole day I hope others have better luck on waiting times than I did.

I took my car to the Firestone on Granby Street for a Virginia state inspection, and my experience…read morewas extremely disappointing. The inspection itself took about 2 to 2 1/2 hours, which I had no issue with. The problems started when they called to tell me my car was ready. Over the phone, I was told it would cost around $1,100 in repairs for my car to pass inspection. I declined because I couldn't afford that and said I would get a second opinion. The employee immediately started offering financing. When I arrived to pick up my car, I was handed a printed estimate for over $2,500, not the $1,100 I had been quoted on the phone. That huge difference immediately made me question the accuracy of everything I had been told. Several of the issues they claimed my car had also didn't make sense based on very recent maintenance: * They told me my oil level was low, even though I had my oil changed less than a week earlier. * They said one of my brake lights was out, but it had been checked during my recent oil change and was working properly. * They recommended replacing my air filter, even though I had just been told it was only slightly dusty and didn't need replacement yet. * They claimed my car needed an alignment, even though I haven't experienced any signs that it does. On top of that, they removed my car key from my key ring and didn't even put it back. It may seem like a small thing, but it reflected the lack of care I experienced. The biggest disappointment was the customer service. The employee was friendly and welcoming when I dropped my car off, but after I declined the repairs, the attitude changed noticeably. I felt like I was treated differently simply because I chose not to have the work done there. I understand that vehicles can legitimately need repairs, and I always encourage people to maintain their cars. However, the inconsistent pricing, questionable inspection findings compared to very recent maintenance, poor customer service along side the unsettling reviews left me with very little confidence in this location. I would recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to any major repairs suggested here. 0 stars if I could... they don't even deserve this 1.

Brought my truck to Willowwood Service Center for a state inspection and specifically told them…read morethere was a loud metal-on-metal clanking sound coming from the rear whenever I went over bumps. I wasn't vague about it -- I clearly explained the issue and expected at least a basic attempt to identify it. The truck passed inspection, I was charged (including an extra fee for using a debit card), and I was told they couldn't find the noise. After moving out of state and getting the truck inspected again, the problem was identified almost immediately: a bad sway bar bushing causing the rear suspension to rattle around. Obvious enough that another shop spotted it right away. So I'm left wondering: how does a shop performing a state inspection miss a suspension issue I specifically pointed out, involving a loud metal-on-metal clank, and then charge extra on top of it? If you bring your vehicle here with an actual problem, you may want a second opinion.

Welcome Mays chasers…read more. Anyone with a car past 1970 beware. Went in for state inspection with no warning lights, no squeaking noises, or anything. Left out the door with tire pressure warning lights, light bulbs not working and brakes squealing. Brought it back the next day, they claimed the car was too advanced for their knowledge. Almost 60 bucks to replace a light bulb and charged triple the price of brake pads to replace them. Lastly they charge a 3% fee on all card transactions and they don't accept American Express cards. Will definitely not return there again.
