Visited Monro to get an oil change. They forgot to put the oil cap back on, which resulted in significant damage to the vehicle, not to mention putting our lives at risk. They cleaned the oil from the engine, but damaged the vehicle in the process. Now our car clicks when we brake. Took the vehicle in. They agreed that the vehicle clicked but refused to pay for the repair. I will NEVER recommend this company again. The manager's name at this location is Charles. He was initially polite, but grew hostile when I suggested he help pay for repairs they caused. Terrible business ethic. You don't treat customers this way. UPDATE 8/27/15: I called the person who commented below. After a few days of phone tag, I got ahold of her and she told me a claims person would be calling me to take care of the situation. That was a month ago now. I've called her several times since and have not gotten any calls back. This is absolutely shameful. This company does not deserve to be in business anymore. We've spend quite a lot to get the car fixed, too. And we're STILL having trouble...all because this place didn't put on the cap, then cleaned the car with way too much degreaser, which has been stripping grease out of places where grease needs to be, putting our lives in danger. Just deplorable. Not sure what else to do, other than tell everyone who reads this that this is not a company you want to do business with. read more

I was always happy with the service. BUT! This last visit 8/29 I asked the man if rotating of my tires was included in the oil change fee and he replied yes. BUT!!!!! My tires were NEVER rotated. I went into Monro Muffler to see if they could get me in, and even though they were busy, they squeezed me in and got me out of there in less than an hour. Got new tires here, tires are fine. Service was initially good BUT the tires needed rebalanced. I had some shaking in my seat and steering wheel at about 60 mph. I called to set an appointment to have the new tires rebalanced again and the mechanic took it for a "test drive" and pushed it 75 mph "somewhere on a smooth road" and said he didn't feel anything. He assumed that what I was probably feeling was the construction on the road now that I have new tires. Got a second opinion - all 4 tires were very off balance plus old weights were left on some of the tires. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend going here for the main reason that my experience with my own car was assumed that I didn't know what I was talking about. Generally people know when their tires don't feel right AND I never would have known that the initial rebalance wasn't done properly unless I had gone somewhere else. read more

I recently moved to Ohio and needed my license plates changed. I went to over 5 different car repair services and asked for their help in helping me unscrew my rusted screw. Each place complained that either they didn't have the time to do it or capitalized on how difficult it was to take the screws out. My experience at MONROE, Stow was much different!!!! The minute I walked in, Andrew was willing to help me and jumped to try several ways to unscrew my old plates. I was happy that I had my old plate off and willing to screw in my new plate. Andrew went ABOVE and beyond and provided me with stainless steel screws for my plates and completed the process of installing my new license plates in addition to putting on the stickers (ALL OF THIS IN THE FREEZING COLD). Hats off to Monroe. I will be going there with my car for future service. read more

My car was towed here when the muffler fell off at the flex pipe and was dragging beneath my car. They mechanics here told me it would cost over $600 to replace this part. They also told me that the rear muffler had rusted out and needed replace for more than $500. The total estimate was well over a grand. When I told them that I simply didn't have the money or the means they tried to convince me to open a credit card. Then they attempted to say they could reduce that price to $660 if they only replaced the flex pipe. I had my car towed elsewhere and had it completely repaired and bought new tires as well for all under $400. I will simply never trust this shop again. I do not recommend them. Had I trusted their estimate, I would have had to sell my car because I just didn't have the money, and it would've completely derailed my life. read more

I went in to get my brakes fixed. He gave me an estimate that was extremely expensive but he insisted I needed it all done. After realizing I didn't need new calipers I told him not to do them. He was angry and was asking why over and over (I don't feel like I need to explain to you why I don't want a service done). He also charged my credit card twice. Once before he did the service and once after. I still haven't received a refund over a week later and have had to contact my bank regarding this. The manager, Charles, may seem nice at first, But if you don't do what he wants, he is very rude. I did leave a bad review in my Monroe survey and he contacted me only after corporate had contacted him about a bad review. There is no reason he should be charging before a service!!! I had an appointment for 5:30PM on Friday, August 22nd for an alignment for my car. When I dropped my car off around 5:20PM, they had me for an oil change appointment which I had just had done one week prior. I told them the appointment was for an alignment and if they would also check a noise on my car and give me an estimate for it. He told me they close at 7PM and to be back to pick if up by then. I showed up at 6:50PM and he told me they had "people claiming they had oil change appointments that backed them up". He told me to give him 30 minutes. I left, went to the store, and returned at 7:25PM. I waited for my car to be done until 8:05PM. They told me the alignment was done, I needed two front tires that the wires were showing. I asked about the noise and they forgot, so they went and looked again. The guy claimed there's no noise (which the noise is terribly obvious) but maybe it's my struts since they're original, which they told me would be $1000. I paid for my alignment, got in my car and started driving down the road when I noticed the inside drivers side door handle was ripped to shreds. It was in perfect condition when I dropped my car off. Now the frame of the handle is busted, the handle is sticking out, and the door will not open from the inside. I turned around and went back and asked the manager to look at my door and that it was not like that when I left. I said I am quite frustrated because not only is something broken that I did not break, but I had already been there for way longer than I was told and my evening plans were ruined. The manager responded, "Do you not know what an appointment is? It's first come first serve." To me, that's what a waiting list is. Also, I was told other people WITHOUT appointments got in for oil changes before my car. He told me they were closed so I'd have to come back in the morning for them to look at it. I said I don't have time tomorrow this wasn't in my plans. He said well guess you'll have to wait till Sunday and I won't even fix it on Sunday. He then walks away from me and there is another worker who starts talking to me instead, I did not get his name. I said how long will I have to wait on Sunday to get my car looked at? He told me oh at least 2 hours. I said can you look at the door now to see what parts, order the parts, and I will show up when the parts are in? He said it doesn't work like that and it's way more complicated than that. I said I don't have time to come back here several times and wait that long for a broken door that I did not even break. He said well that's just too bad. I was treated terribly and with major attitude for THEM breaking my car. I told him forget it, they have lost my business. He said "good for you, see ya". And I left. I had a mechanic look yesterday, there are no wires showing on my tires, he said they're good until winter, just the tread is low. Whoever the new manager is, is terrible. The old management, I always had great service here. I will never go here again under this management and I'd be weary to even try any new management. read more

I told him he was insane and drop me car and I'd go elsewhere. he then tried to tell me it was illegal for him to allow me to take my "unsafe" car off of his lot. I offered to call the police for him to explain this law to me in front of him, and he dropped my car immediately. I believe this brand name was featured on one of those ripoff expose news shows. Charles the manager here is AMAZING!! I came in very distraught over how badly my tires were handling the road. I bought my car used, and was told there were 4 new tires on it- 2 accidents from the snow later, I decided to have them looked at. Turns out, these tires were very old and VERY worn. I told him I wanted the best tires for my car, and he gave me a few options of what they had in stock- not just the most expensive, but what he actually thought would work best for me. He had them done in only a few hours, on a Sunday nonetheless, and now my car drives amazingly. Fast forward a few months and I popped a tire rounding a curb. Again, Charles was working and he fit me in as soon as I came in, prorated the tire, and I was out of there in less than an hour! I highly recommend this location for a job well done. read more

My wife had her car in there with a broken muffler, only about 2 feet section. They were very pushy and rude with her when she called asking for an update. The manager was shocked when it was a man calling for a follow up. They quoted $3,800 for parts and repair for a 2 foot section of exhaust. (You literally can put in a brand new engine for that) When asked why they didn't call, he said they put the wrong phone number down for my wife. I called 2 other places, they said they could quote for the repair for the part, But to replace the entire exhaust system for less than $1,500 for parts and labor....for the entire exhaust system. Finally, we picked up the car the next day and the window had been left down over night. The inside had pollen and crap inside from the window being left down. I truly believe they thought my wife was just some dumb woman and that they could take advantage of her. Will never go back. The only good part was the lady whom was there when the car was picked up was really nice and understanding. Still not enough to ever go back. read more

Dont even think about going here. Spent around $700 on repairs and all was wrong. They installed the wrong muffler on my car and it lays on the frame and shakes the car. That was $300. I took it back and complained and they HAMMERED on the muffler to try to bend it away. Didnt work. Also, my window fell in the door. Spent $365 on a new regulator, window still doesnt work. Called 3 times over 3 weeks, Brandon said hes still trying to find a part. I gave up and took car to another shop. They said wrong pipe/muffler was installed (they took off a curved pipe and installed a straight one) and the new window regulator bent when Brandons guy installed it and it needs ANOTHER new unit. I will NEVER go to Monro again. read more

My brakes went out on car right by Monro. I asked them for a quote but planned on getting my car towed figuring it would be too expensive. beware, beware my son had his oil change their which cost $ 79.49 synpower val. at the end it cost me $350.00 they did a tire rotation and at the same time lost the center cap for the wheel assy. it was there when we drove it there it was gone by the time we got home. my cost $45.00 out my pocket. bmw parts are not cheap.. then i happen to see a big oil leak in my driveway where they strip the oil pan bolt which i had to go somewhere else to repair. i call their corp. office and the adjuster will not pay for it. i will never have any of my cars go their again read more
