Bought online and made an appt., but couple of days before got a nail so took it over that day to see if I could get installed early. Ronan got me logged in and done that day, plus the Toyo tires were just out of the oven in March/April of 2026; fresh. Good job.

A customer for years and I recommend the place to my friends and family. Today I came in without an appointment to have one tire replaced on my car under warranty. It's a work day and I drove in from Oakland so I didn't have loads of time to lose. They were clear when I dropped the car off that, because I'm a walk-in, I'd have to wait 2.5-hrs. More than I wanted to wait but I get it and I agreed to come back in that time. They also have a link that tells you when the car should be done which is also cool. I used that while I was out to sort out when I should head back to grab my car. The app at that link confirmed my car was going to be ready at the same time they told me earlier so I came back to pick it up. Once I arrived, I could tell the car hadn't been touched. They then explained they'd need the car for another 1.5-hrs. Completely ridiculous and a big downer for someone who had always been a loyal customer. I might change this rating someday but hoping this acts as a warning for others who attempt to walk-in to get their car serviced here. You can't rely on their estimated time nor can you rely on the technology they use to keep customers updated on when cars will be finished. Here's hoping they fix their workflow and fancy systems they use to "help" loyal customers.

Goodwin is the pinnacle of what a great business owner should be - experienced, friendly, and customer oriented. I came in on a Saturday afternoon, with no appointment, and wanted to check to see if there was an off-chance he could help me. My car was in need of a STAR-certified smog check in order to get the 2023 registration sticker. I wanted to support a local business, in Lafayette, that was still opened, and noticed CarTech with the high reviews. I also noticed that Yelp check-in had a $45 offer (does not include the certification and only good for vehicles before a certain year). My vehicle was 2008, which was probably the oldest vehicle, out of the other 3 that were in his lot. Anyways, Goodwin honored the Yelp offer and gave me 40% off the listed rate. He told me that it would be 30-45 minutes (meaning 15-20 minutes after when the business closed) and recommended that I hang out at the Starbucks across the street. Once the vehicle was ready, and passed (YAY!) he gave me a call and said no need to rush as he moved my vehicle to top priority. He was going to then work on the other vehicles, as he promised the owner that it would be ready by this afternoon. A man of his word. Huge respect for CarTech and especially the business owner.

Showed up after 30 minutes wait and was extremely rude. He said the $55 price was cash only. I said I would go get cash. He responded he didn't want my business and I should leave. CarTech is not worth the hassle.

This time I talked with Cody who said that I actually needed the tire balanced. (I didn't really understand if I needed all tires balanced or fewer than all four, but I didn't really care because I knew I wanted them all balanced.) I came back a few days later to get the tires balanced. Cody helped me again. The lobby was very busy and he was the only person working but he did a good job helping everyone as quickly as possible. I chose to have all 4 tires balanced at a cost of $25 each. I left the car and it was ready within a few hours as promised. No additional costs or issues. My car now drives super smooth! Although I see that there are a lot of negative reviews, my experience has been very different. After two experiences with this Big O Tire store I'm very happy with the customer service and the work performed. I would definitely recommend them.

I recently had a frustrating experience that I think others should be aware of…read more I went in to fix a flat tire, expecting a simple and affordable repair since I had just bought the car and the tires are practically new. Instead, I was told that not one--but two--tires needed replacing because they were "almost bald," which made no sense given their condition. On top of that, I was advised to get an alignment I know I don't need, and was told my brakes needed replacing--even though I had them inspected right after buying the car and was assured they were new. What should have been a straightforward $120 fix suddenly turned into a quote of over $1,000. It felt like they were trying to take advantage of the situation, assuming I wouldn't question their recommendations. If I had trusted them without thinking twice, I would've paid for unnecessary work. Be careful out there--always double-check and don't hesitate to get a second opinion. Not everyone has your best interest in mind, and some places seem more focused on commission than honest service.  -5 stars
