Tired Tails came very highly recommended from previous/current clients of theirs that is a close friend, with a high energy and well trained Labrador, so we knew they were the real deal. We were a little intimidated bringing our new large breed puppy, Red, home (and we are seasoned dog people!). He was already 6 months old and had only known life on a farm (no collar, leash, inside time, etc.), so starting from scratch at an older puppy age was going to be a journey! Katherine from Tired Tails turned our golden retriever, Moose into a well-behaved life long companion that's good around other dogs, can go on hikes and bikes off-leash, listens to our commands, and is gentle and caring with our newborn son. We would be in a much different situation if it weren't for Katherine. From the beginning, Moose was your typical unruly puppy, biting, stealing clothes, even had a serious surgery after he ingested a sock when he was 6 months old; he'd bark at visitors, pull like crazy on the leash, and run away if you unhooked his leash in an open setting. We worked with Katherine on a litany of training, including leash pulling, sit, down, heel, wait, come, release, crate training, no jumping on people, playing nicely with other dogs, respecting boundaries, and overall manners. Moose would often go with Katherine for pack walks, summer school, one-on-one sessions and would come home like a new dog. The time, interest, investment, and love she's given moose over the last year is nothing short of incredible and we thank our lucky stars we found tired tails to help Moose grow into the great dog that he is today, and transition into being a gentle big brother for our new baby. They trained the husky out of my husky I sent Diablo to get trained by tired tails in 2022. I bought him from Craigslist's thinking he was going to be a fluffy little pomsky but ended up with a 90lb husky mix! Great reminder to adopt don't shop He was full of puppy energy and way too big for my kids. He and I both desperately needed some guidance before we ran into trouble. After spending some time with tired tails- I now have a crate trained, non reactive dog who is extremely gentle with my 5 little girls. Teaching him "place" and getting him comfortable in the crate was a major turning point. He also learned how to ignore other dogs and be less reactive to his surroundings. I can leave the gates and doors open without any fear of him taking off, and he strides along the baby stroller with a slacked leash. Claire and Nick helped us with SO many little tricks that actually worked and gave us the tools we needed to make him the perfect dog for our family.
