TIRES PLUS BEWARE Dropped our car for new tires and came back with very scratched up car rims and tires. They took no responsibility despite it being obvious the damage is new (new tires dinged up and rims dinged/scratched to high hell in same spots). There is yellow paint in the damaged areas flaking off. Looks like someone hit something with our car. Will never take a car there again! read more

I would like to say this is a good tire shop, but I just can't. These guys (all who "work" there, they're just awful! Ask a question, they'll tell you their booked. But I now I know why! and it isn't because they've too many customers. Its because I've seen wet mud dry faster than their willingness to work. And its probably not because they don't have the tools and "know how" but because their just lazy sloth like pace is just painfully slow because they stopped caring about customers years ago. I stopped in to get a new set of 4 Michelins, ordered the tires came in the following day no problems. However after a day I was already loosing air. Everyday one of the tires would be a couple of psi down. I thought "meh" its probably just part of the break in factor. And then, after a month elapsed and filling one or two tires every 2 days I ended up taking it back. Walked in and waited 25 minutes for someone to even acknowledge I was there. And of course I instantly got the good ol" We're Booked" problem". Yeah its a problem, but its going to be your darn problem and not theirs, and they'll sure let you you know and treat you like it. The old guy that usually mans the front, he's okay, but once he's got your money, he isn't giving a dam either. Trust me on this, their front area is where customers go to die........ waiting. I've been using this Tires Plus location for over 5 years. I'd say they are by far the best in south Tampa for any service related scenarios. Whenever I've needed new tires, needed have a seal failure patched, issues with tire pressure sensors, so on and so forth they are quick and efficient. I've simply called ahead and they tell me to drop by and they are responsive. Very affordable and no hidden labor fees like I've seen elsewhere. Quick story: I needed to head on the road for a long overdue vacation and my tire warning light was illuminated. I drove it over at 6:50am and they had my vehicle repaired in under an hour. Seriously, they are great. And, ask for Charley, he's awesome. Thank you! read more

I had an excellent experience here. I went in with my car shaking when I accelerated, it felt like I wasn't fully in control of my vehicle and I had an idea it was either the cv joints or needed an alignment. The gentleman at the front greeted me with a smile and was very helpful and promised they'd have an answer for me. I'm always weary about any car place just from past experience as I'm not experienced in knowing what's wrong with my car. I just knew it wasn't right. Within 30 minutes- the gentleman drove my car and called me to let me know the outcome. One of the issues could be covered in my warranty to which he advised me to look into at the dealership. bc my car was too new to be having that certain issue. I felt that was very honest. he didn't take advantage of me having very little knowledge but he guided me. And what I thought was wrong was actually one of the things! I walked out a very happy customer. So much so, if this issue is not covered on my warranty- I'll be heading immediately back to this Tires Plus location. Thanks guys! read more

You know those stories about ethically bankrupt vehicle repair companies? I can't help but think ive got myself into a situation with this crew. I hit a pot hole about 7 months ago and my tire literally blew up. So I needed a new tire in a hurry and this place happened to be one of the only shops open. I needed a new set of tires anyway, and I had the run flat tires. So I asked about pricing, cheapest they had was about $1000 for four. I bit my bottom lip and went for it despite my better judgement. Of course as soon as I get in the car after the change, a "tire pressure" sensor light goes off. When I returned to the shop, they informed me that a sensor battery was low and that they'd need to replace it. Of course it would cost me... keep in mind this is a DAY after I spent $1000 on tires. Fast forward 7 month later, I get a nail in a tire. I'm covered under warranty rIght? Well yes, but there's a catch, the nail was too close to the outside so I needed buy a new prorated tire for $80. Interesting how that all worked out. I have no proof this place is a scam factory. But the line of strange coincidences is a little too long. read more

Guy at the front is a jerk if you are not one of his regulars. I am from out of town and in Tampa for a volleyball tournament and had a leak in my tire. I called to see if I could get it replaced via phone and he was super nice. By the time I got there and went inside things changed. He barley acknowledged me (there was only one other person sitting in lobby). When I finally got acknowledged he basically brushed me off and continued his conversation on the phone. Kept going back and forth inside the shop and trying to figure out how to send a pic or something. To whoever he was talking to on phone. Finally I said "sir I just want to make sure you'll be able to do my tire because it's 5:00pm on a Saturday and if you can't I understand but need to try and find somewhere that can before everyone closes". Well that didn't set well with him and he basically said I'll have to just wait which I didn't mind I just wanted to make sure they had the tire I needed before hand so we didn't get stuff with no tire and 100's of miles from home with Sunday approaching. When he finally had a moment for me he was sort of a pompous jerk. He asked to see tire and what exactly was wrong I told him it kept leaking air and now was shaking. He was like "well duh you put fix a flat in it and that will mess up balance". I get that but the way he said it was rude and condescending especially after the initial interaction and him having me stand there waiting for like 20 min while he had conversation on the phone that was not entirely "business". Came in to get my tire patched after I found a nail in it. I was told the service would be done in about an hour since they were pretty busy, but that was okay since it was lunchtime. I just got something to eat while I waited. The service was actually completed in less than an hour (about 30 minutes) which was surprising but pretty great. I left the tire store with my tire all patched up and was pretty happy with the speed of service. The people here were really nice and the price tag wasn't too hefty. It was $30 to get my tire patched. For buying tires and miscellaneous service this place seems pretty good. read more

Eighteen year old daughter was heading onto highway on Sunday afternoon to get back to university when I noticed a nail in her tire. We drove over to Tires Plus on S Dale Mabry, where we have been customers for years, just before 4 pm and explained our urgent need to get the flat repaired so she could get on the highway. I explained that the nail was in the center of tread and the tire was less than a year old so it should be a simple patch repair. Desk manager simply said they couldn't work it in today. I reminded him that we've been customers there for years with 6 cars in our family and that we were in a pinch and hoping they could get our daughter on the road safely. Even if all the tire techs were occupied on jobs at the time, and even if we had to wait a bit, and even if someone had to stay a few minutes late, you'd think this shop could handle a less than 30 minute nail repair under the circumstances (for which I would have been greatly appreciative). Instead, with no compassion for the circumstances, he looked up at a long time customer and said "Maybe one of the other tire places can help you." While they may have not given me the best rate at first; they matched and beat another company's rate. BUT, they also promised to take a look at my breaks and reset my tire pressure sensors, Neither of these two services were actually done. How do I know? Because today, I'm replacing all of my break pads after being told they were in good condition and rotors as well Maybe purchase your tires from this company, but don't trust them to do anything else. Do not go here. Got an alignment done, car pulled to the left. Went back within warranty period and they redid it. Now car pulls to the right more then it did to the left before AND my steering wheel isn't straight. Seriously?! They didn't want to give me a print out when they did the work until I explicitly asked for it. Turns out they returned the car to me in worse condition then I gave to them! I asked the guy if he thought this was acceptable and he says "that's the best we could do". Incredible. This isn't even including the "customer service" I saw while I was there: everyone eating pizza with no one at the counter when I and another where waiting in the lobby. Literally the worst experience relating to car maintenance I've ever had. The two guys working the front desk today are unprofessional, careless, and rude. I called and scheduled an appt with one of the guys at 1:30. Showed up on time and the other guy informs me he just sent everyone to lunch even though I had an appt and would have to come back in an hour. I came back at 2:30 and they literally couldn't answer any question appropriately regarding my tires that were purchased here and still under warranty. They told me it would "be awhile" If I wanted to get the tires balanced even though I had an appt and I purchased lifetime balance plan in 2016. I ended up being there over an hour just for tire inspection and balance (nothing was wrong with them to begin with, just wanted to make sure they were good before a long road trip). I was in and out in about 30 minutes on a Saturday for an oil change. I've been going here for several years but think they may have recently changed management. There use to be military memorabilia all over the walls and there isn't anymore. I have bought tires here, gotten many oil changes, had a totaled car towed here and had standard service. I USE to come here. I say 'use to' because I will not be back! The last time I came I asked for the advertised "Manager's Special" (oil change, tire rotation and inspection). The worker did not now what it was so I told him it was on the big ad beside him. He then asked me to read off to him what it included as he types it in my work order. I picked up my car hours later with a long list of things I needed fixed totaling over $700 with a tire pressure light still on. When I asked why my tire pressure light was on the guy took a pen out and added $89.99 to my $700 quote and said I needed a new sensor too. Three days later I took my car to another shop. They aligned my car for $40 and put some air in my tires. The light went off. They said my car was running fine. Sadly I will not be back here. They had another manager before named Chris, the past few times I have been here he has not been around. Who ever hey have running this location now is clueless. Don't come here. read more

Honestly, the worst experience in automotive service ever. If I could give it a zero rating I would. First, I was told that my job would be done at a certain time - and was called three hours later. When I arrived 30 minutes after being called, no one was in the front office. When I attempted to encourage one of the technicians to come and help me so that I could get my tires and leave, I was left standing in their empty waiting room for 5-10 minutes. When the "manager", Robert Lemus finally arrived, he seemed indifferent to my waiting saying that they were busy. Since I was the only customer in the store at 6:10 PM, I was aghast at his flippant attitude. As I struggled to get him to do his job, he became confrontational and rude. When confronted with his poor customer service, failure to deliver on what he stated when I left the shop, he again became agitated and unreasonable - especially when I told him that his service was dismal and there was no chance of my ever returning. In fact as he loaded my tires in my truck he became physical / tried to confronted me - if he was not such a sad, sorry, out of shape chump, I might have been concerned or felt threatened. If you want an experience where you do not get what is promised and get a physical confrontation to boot, this is your store. Failing that, stay far away. If there was a way to contact their cooperate HQ, I would. But sadly, their business model seems to be one that anticipates having substandard workers and poor customer service. As other have said, this location is run by an absolute scam artist. I'll give you the briefest run down I can, with pictures for proof. *Took my truck in for an oil change and inspection, mentioned the brake pedal felt off *Charlie calls me and says my brake system is basically completely shot, my truck is undrivable (even though I drove it in with no issues), and that it would be $4500 to fix. *All my BS alarms go off, and I decline that service, saying I only want the oil change and I'll pick my truck up ASAP and Charlie starts playing good guy shop owner, and out of the niceness of his heart, takes about $100 off, which I also decline. *Charlie calls me in the morning, offering to take a few more hundred off, which I again decline and say change my oil and I'll get my truck. I'm then told that it may take over a day for them to put my brakes together. I now see this was 100% "punishment" for not giving into the repeated scam attempts. *It takes 3 calendar days to get my truck back. When I get my truck back, my brake fluid is almost empty, and my coolant is low. Meaning that the inspection I also paid for was likely never done, and it was a scam from the start. Also, the estimate now only says $3,533.89 (see attachment) Not $4500ish. So where did that $1000 magically go? *So, in those 3 days my truck was gone, I researched the part Charlie said was broken and made my truck undrivable, and guess what? My truck does not even take that part. The "new power brake booster with master cylinder" is ONLY for my truck model with an optional Electronic Stability Control package. My factory info using my VIN# confirms I do not have this package. *This 100% confirms that this guy tried to scam me out of roughly $4500 *I took my truck to a local repair shop that was passed along to me by a friend *There was NOTHING wrong with my brakes except air in the brake lines which were bled and the pads were adjusted. My brakes now feel amazing for a little less than $150 (See 2nd attachment) *Stay far, far away from this absolute joke of a shop, and its scammer supervisor / leader Charlie. *Check out Brothers Automotive on Macdill in South Tampa if you want an honest, trustworthy, locally owned, awesome place. *Oh, BTW...As icing on the cake, I dropped my truck off at Brothers Automotive in the morning and had it back that afternoon, completely repaired. So now I know I was intentionally punished by Tires Plus. *I am filing multiple complaints regarding this and contacting Tires Plus Corporate. read more

I called to get an oil change done, and the person on the phone answers "yes?", then I ask how long the wait would be for an oil change, to which he replies sarcastically "an oil change the day after a hurricane?" and then he just hangs up. We then try to call back multiple times which were just ignored. Regardless of if you are short staffed or can't take basic requests after a category 1/tropical storm hit, that's not the way you treat customers. I came to the South Tampa location when I moved here in June. I needed to replace a couple of tires and I had just replaced two tires previously with Tires Plus in another location. I came and saw Allen who was awesome. He went out of his way to make a great experience and was thorough and explained all fees, road hazard warranties etc. I came in today around 4:30PM (yes I realize it is close to closing time) as my tire pressure light came on suddenly. I had been in a construction zone the prior day so I was concerned there was a screw or nail in the tire. I entered the lobby and all the lights were shut off, television off, office door closed and locked yet the bay doors were open and workers were present. I waited at the counter for about five minutes and then I walked behind the counter and out the service door into the bay. Some of the workers saw me and of course did not speak. A gentleman pulled a car in and looked at me so I stated "is anyone working the front desk?" to which he replied "Yup that's me and I'll be there in a minute." He approached the counter and I said that my tire pressure light came on and I was worried something was in the tire if they could please give it a check. Instead of offering to check the pressure and fill them up or even schedule an appointment for the next day, he simply said they were done for the day and they would not be checking anything today. If I wanted to come in tomorrow I could do that. I assume this man was the manager as he was the only one on duty and I've seen him in the office prior. His customer service and attitude sucks. Tires Plus can kick rocks as they will NEVER get a dime of my business. I went directly across the street to a competitor and I walked in explained what was going on with the tire and they immediately offered to fill the tires up, check pressure, and recalibrate the sensors. They did intimate that if it required a check I would need to come back the next day as they were already booked up. Tired Plus, please learn a lesson form your competitor across the street. read more

They wanted $811 for 4 new tires and alignment. Tires were $110 a piece which is in the higher range for a Volkswagen Passat but still ok, but I am astounded that they wanted an extra $370 to mount and align tires. I ended up buying tires somewhere else and going to a place that mounted and aligned them for $110. The oil change I did have was normal for a synthetic , but when I checked the tag they put me at returning at 5,000 miles and the synthetic blends are generally 10,000 miles- so either they put the wrong oil in, they made a mistake and put 5,000 instead of 10,000 on the sticker, or they are trying to get me to come back for a change earlier than needed. When I took it to a more reliable shop, I was astounded to find out all of the new repairs needed were caused by the guys at tires plus. They rushed through my work order to move onto another order and put parts on wrong, over looked other parts, and didn't even take responsibility once I found out what was really happening. I have had this location put tires on my car (not bought from them) with zero complaints. I bought the lifetime alignment and balance which has been worth every penny. Recently after an alignment, I was told I needed 2 tires. They gave me a quote including installation and hazard. I of course checked online to see if I could get 2 tires cheaper...I actually couldn't. They were able to get me a really good deal AND were able to get them to the shop the next day! read more

The guys stayed late to work on my car and I was able to make it to my sons baseball game on time. I went here because I had a coupon and needed an oil change. They told me I had a lightbulb out and could change it so I agreed. The next time I had someone open my hood to check something else under the hood they showed me two semi-cracked lightbulbs that were just sitting under the hood rolling around. I'm sure it was just an oversite but someone had to have set them down and left them there! I'll be looking for somewhere more careful in the future. read more

This letter, that I wrote to Tires Plus, explains it all: Several months ago, I needed to have a nail removed from my tire and the tire plugged. I went to Lube Express where I get my oil changed, they recognized me as a regular customer and fixed my tire for $10. It took about 5 minutes. Today, I needed the same repair done so I took it to your store on South Dale Mabry in Tampa, FL. It took almost an hour and cost $31.00. The personality -challenged person who waited on me, neglected to tell me that I was going to get a free "courtesy check", had he done so, I would have refused as I was in a hurry. It should be noted that there were numerous bays open and several mechanics available. It should also be noted that I informed the personality-challenged counter person that I just recently (in April) had these tires put on at their location . I also had other work done to the tune of about $1300. So that begs the question; if an oil and filter shop will give a guy a break because he spends $40 every few months, why can't (won't) a full service garage do the same for a customer who just spent over $1300? And that, leads to this question; which business do you think has seen the last of my money? I will be posting this letter on social media and sites such as Yelp. read more
