Tisch Cafeteria has been a blessing for my daughter and for me. She's been getting me sweet n low and having very good meals here for a week. If you are staying with a family member have a salad. The food looks delicious although I don't get to enjoy. I wasn't even allowed liquids except intravenous. Then liquid diet and finally now pureed. I'm coming just to eat when I can. read more

The almond pastry has a chokehold on my wallet. Bagel station orders most accurate and not a mess to eat when it's the lady behind the station, if it's one of the men staff expect to be asked multiple times what you ordered even if there's no one else before or after you. Beware the muffins: they're deliciously moist and will disappear too quickly. read more

Not a bad hospital. A nice variety of hot and cold foods. Their sandwich selection is pretty good. The actually an excellent coffee section too. The counter people are usually very sweet. I like the vibe here. Everybody mind their business. I guess because at the end of day, we are all dealing with something serious. read more

A really, nice, modern cafeteria. Although I'm not an employee at the hospital, I've found myself here my fair share of times to appreciate the cafe's existence when in need of a quick meal. The Tisch Cafe can easily be found by following the blue path (left of the main entrance) all of the way to the end. Inside, you'll find rows and rows of tables, chairs and booths that can accommodate quite a large crowd. The food served inside is pretty typical of what you would find outside on the streets. There are stations for made-to-order sandwiches, pasta dishes, pizzas, meat and sides and salads. If you're in need of a beverage, they have it all, whatever you're into. Free water can be acquired at a water dispenser to the right of the cafe area. I've had the opportunity to try their pizzas and salads and both were really good, especially the pizzas. Although the personal pies here don't look that big, they actually hit the spot and fill you right up with the very last bite. The fact that the hospital is located on 1st Avenue, away from much of civilization west of it, it is easy to find yourself at the cafe quite often if you're in the area. Everything was tasty. Decent prices especially for NYC. My only complaint is everything didn't need to be extravagant and gourmet. Sometimes it's nice to just grab a plain ham and cheese sandwich without needing to google the name of the cheese and pull off odd micro greens. Also, poor selection of diet drinks. read more

For hospital food it was pretty good. There was a pizza station, salad station, and a stir fry station. There were also lots of grab and go pre packaged foods scattered about. I had vegetarian stir fry which was fine. A little too saucy for my taste and not enough variety in veggies but it's a hospital so I don't expect much. read more

Been to a lot of hospital cafeteria's but this one is probably the cleanest and updated modern one I've seen. Prices are city prices, half a sandwich or wrap is like $3. Sushi is like $8 for a tiny roll. Drinks are $2 - $4. There's a deli station, ramen, and boston market style station for your food choices and of course pizza for those who are on a budget. Lots of outlets for plugging in and charging your phone or laptop. Some have usb ports, while others have the regular outlets. Lots of seating and tables to hangout and chill. read more

There is really nothing much to say about this cafe. It's in a Nyu main busking and there is not other cafeteria that you could go. Does it get the job done yes it does the sitting is good but the fod is just regular and prices are high for hospital. Went there Monday night and had stay with a friend for broken legg, I tried to get some food. Did we really like it know but it gets the craving done. I should have order form outside, I could get it cheaper and better probably. The people are bey friendly and help you right away . They do have dunkin donut coffe, which I really don't like it at all . It's convince for the people you have to stay over the night in the hospital that they could get some food in emergency if needed. read more

Much better and improved than the old cafeteria. The decor is more modern, slick. Lots of room to hang out, plug your phone. As a night worker, I'm glad they are open until midnight, even on weekends. I usually go there on the rare nights where I didn't have a chance to bring my lunch or if I'm in need of extra caffeine. The coffee (ilili) is pretty good and I can grab some healthy snacks. That's mainly what I use it. In terms of food, they need to work out a lot of kinks in the menu. Offer more variety. Offer candy and gum (just me asking). I've only had an egg sandwich. The turkey and tuna sandwiches look exactly like what we serve in the rest of the hospital (a step above bland). They also have individual pizzas with cool toppings. The dinner options don't often look that appetizing. Oh, and did I mention the prices are steep?! I know it's midtown Manhattan but this isn't high end food. Overall, they aren't offering enough right now to attract people. Over the years sadly having to go to the Emergency Department, they keep you all day, not sure why it takes so long but I end up at the Cafe to get coffee and soup, both always excellent, more visits i started to do take out after trying the sconces and coffee. Today after 3 days waiting in hospital with my son I tried the salmon with fresh veggies and mash potatoes. Wow, better than all the fancy resteraunt I've been to. I eat here for breakfast everyday I have work. The omlet station is the best bang for your buck. Those guys there are really nice and they aren't stingy with the ingredients. $5.88 I get a really hearty breakfast to help jump start my day! read more

Being in the hospital to visit someone is never fun but, it makes it a little better to be able to grab a delicious meal to keep your energy up in the hospital. It was just after lunch time when we came into eat and they had plenty of selections from pre-made sandwiches, sandwiches made to order, hot meal options including veggie options, salad bar, pizza station, coffee and plenty of special dietary need options. We grabbed a couple of different sandwiches and headed to a table. I ate half of the salmon salad sandwich and half of a chicken wrap and they were both delicious. I went back up for some coffee since I was a bit tired from just traveling into town that morning. The coffee was delicious after I figured out how to actually work the machine but, like I said I was a bit tired. Exquisite fine foods and friendly staff make it the classic "go to" spot for the hospital house staff. For lunch, they have a hybrid of classic foods including sandwich, pizza, pasta, and a salad bar. There's a hot entree main area that changes daily and a seasonal bar that's currently making taqueria bowls. For breakfast they also have an omelet station. There is plenty of sitting room and the bathroom is conveniently located nearby. The hours aren't the best hence the 4 stars, but when they're open, always a good time at TISCH Cafe! read more

Never thought I'd feel so strongly about reviewing a hospital cafeteria. This place is spotless, the kitchen staff are so pleasant and appear to actually take pride in what they do. The food is way above par than any standard hospital cafeteria. Now I don't plan on frequenting the hospital cafeteria, in fact I try to stay away from hospitals to begin with but it's great to think that even the cafeteria is a reflection of the quality of care you get at NYU Langone. We happen to work in the Brooklyn location of the NYU Langone Health Care System. But today had to use the medical center to go for a test. Well after fasting for several hours, it is now time to eat. This happens to be the first time we are visiting the medical center so also the first time for trying the Cafe. We happen to arrival just when the Lunch time was starting. Previous was the Breakfast period. Well we walked around the Cafe to see the layout and what was interesting. Yes Pasta, Sandwich, Sushi, Grill, Market Entree, Stir Fry and prepared Cold Sandwich Station to name a few. We opted for the Grill Station. Enjoyed a elegant Braised Short Rib Panini that was delicious. Which was made fresh in front of me. There were several other specials in each of the other stations. If you still have room what a great dessert stations with many selections to pick. Also many styles of coffee selections to pick from to accompany your meal/dessert. I would highly recommend the Cafe to anyone to see and try. I know I will be returning if I need to revisit the medical center. read more

Beautiful new digs, but still *hospital food* Perhaps the only bright spot to Hurricane Sandy was that it washed away the disappointment that was the old NYU Tisch Cafeteria. In its place returned a gleaming multicultural dining common bristling with food options and electronic/USB plug-ins. Was surprised to learn that there was a high-end ramen option. Beef or chicken in a beef or vegetable broth. Isn't tonkotsu ramen pork-based? Not at NYU, especially one week prior to Rosh Hashanah! Unfortunately, the broth's highest note was a sour one - seriously, a sour ramen? Noodles were okay, more evocative of a DIY-production than the toothsome noodles available at NYC's many renouned Japanese shops. Prices were on the steep end ($8 for the ramen), but on par for hospital cafeterias. Supposedly, employee discounts are to be rolled out later. Coffee options appeared high-end. Clean, modern and really helpful staff. The "market table" dishes (entree and sides) are usually of great quality and taste great. The variety is interesting as well. They tend to have a lot of fish options for the market table section as well. The grab and go sandwiches are fresh and taste fine for something quick. I love the dessert selection from the bakery chain Financier Patisserie. They have gift boxes available of sweets if you are visiting someone or need something to bring back to the office! read more

This is not a typical hospital cafe. They present a very modern menu, with a sandwich station, pasta, pizza, "carving board" and side dish station, a salad bar and a burrito bowl station. The deli sandwiches and pizzas are good, and so is the mac and cheese. The drink selection is very minimal, as there are only cans of most soft drinks rather than bottles. The snack and candy selection is all "upscale" with prices to match. (For example, they sell Terra brand chips priced at 2 bucks for a small bag.) For a hospital cafeteria, this place is surprisingly clean and organized, and the sitting area is very bright having huge windows overlooking 1 ave. The selection on the menu is very limited, however. That is the only thing I noticed that I would like different. Overall, this was a good experience. read more

This cafe located in the back of main hospital just oped last month. Everything is brand new, including the shining kitchen, clean counter, and all the big screens dismaying the menu. The pasta station cook your order in front of you with a big cheese wheel so you can chop off some fresh Parmesan. The portion is extremely small. The main entree only contain less than 200 cal. I was trying the pork with side dish, which included four pieces of sliced pork tenderloin (each for the size of a McDonald's chicken nugget) and four pieces of artichokes. I think I can finish this $7 "main dish" in two minutes. It would be much better to be a part of 7 course menu, but not fit in a cafe. read more
