Came here for lunch my first time. They were busy but not super crowded. It has Greek pastries and full meals. I order the classic chicken gyro and i enjoyed it. The meat was tender and seasoned. Upon entering this gorgeous establishment, the staff was super nice and greeted me right away. Everything appeared clean and in order. There were specialty gyros you can order and there was a plethora of people stopping in the get customized Mediterranean bowls. The restaurant was organized and the decor was appreciated. I ordered the traditional Lamb Gyro and the meat was shredded lamb instead of the sliced lamb to which I'm used. The place is a bit pricey fyi compared to other Greek spots in the city. This worked out very well. I needed lunch and had just walked out of Penn Station, which is a challenging thing to do in New York and leave by your intended exit. Greek from Greece is but a block away, on 7th Avenue. It's not tucked into some alley, or even a mezzanine, and its storefront faces the street. It's one of the first Greek places I've walked into that doesn't incorporate the blue and white paint scheme representing the colors of the Greek flag. It's more modern and neutral. Not only that, their air conditioning worked well. Greek from Greece has a long counter from which you order and there is a menu on the wall beyond. The ingredients to make the food are right there. The "problem" is that your eyes may be bigger than your stomach. There are a lot of good staples on display. The service was relaxed and good natured. They had a lunch combo I liked that included a soft drink. I know that stomachs function like garbage disposals, but they layered the food into a granolafied Northampton MA or Berkeley CA-like cardboard box so I couldn't really eat the various "courses" in the order I might have liked. Again, food goes down the hatch and is processed, so I will say that it was a tasty and satisfying combination lunch. Since the store is narrow, the tables opposite the counter and queueing area are only placed along the wall. However, in moving toward the back, you'll find an eating area that's both more spacious and cozy. Eating here is something I'd repeat. While the food is tasty, I am lowering my star rating because it was too much money for something I finished in under 10 minutes. The desserts are full of flaky flavor and will want you ordering another, and the sandwiches are loaded with flavor, I feel everything was small. This was another Cava/Roti spinoff and I have seen enough of that already. Not much else to say other than they look to upcharge you at every turn, wanting you to pay more than $50 for a small meal. I guess that is where the "Heart of Midtown" location catches up to you. Been craving for Greek food. Searched around and found this close to the Hudson River. I got the mini Kataifi, orange pie, spinach spanakopita(comes with tahini sauce), and homemade lemonade. Surprise! The name reflects the ethos of the food. A Greek who sources olive oil, kalamata, feta all from Greece. This is one of the best value bowls in town. My new favorite. I also love Eons Summer Salt & Blue Park kitchen. This is just at another level because the vegetables choice is staggering even for a semi veg like me. Eggplant zucchini poblanos oh my. Stopped here for a late lunch. The ambience is nice and inviting. The staff is friendly especially Ayesha, she was super friendly and helpful. For food I tried a range of things . Get the pork gyro! Delicious! When my son didn't like the lamb meat, that happily exchanged it with a pork gyro. They then gave us one of the sweet desserts to make sure we had a good visit. They then gave side Greek salad for $6 was delicious as well. I would definitely come back here. read more

Replacing one of the couple locations of Fournos Theophilos, this is a new location of the mini chain of the same name. They have the same menu as the other locations and I am unsure of the hours of this one. I got a pastry for the morning which I wasn't exactly sure name of. It was filled with chocolate and the pastry was flaky and quite delicious. It was big enough to share and worth it for the price. They are mostly known for their bougatsa which I would get next time though I didn't want to pay this much this time. Good place though this is to be expected from their other locations. Great spot to grab breakfast or lunch. Great selection of pastries and other breakfast items to eat on your walk to work or in the office. One of my favorites is the Vegan Spinach Pie. It's easy to walk to work with! I also love their Lemon Herbal Iced Tea. If you're in town visiting, check out their breakfast for some insanely delicious French toast! 4 stars seem to be an accurate rating. I don't know if I ever stepped inside this place but it's gotta be the first time I got anything from here unless my memory is failing me. So I got a 'falafel bowl' which costs $16 and seems like a bit of a steep price point but the generous size of it filled with amount of ingredients that one can add make it in all honesty a bowl good enough for two. There were two bowl sizes or choices, I went for the bigger (?) one since there are way more choices that one can add to the bowl as opposed to the other one that's a dollar or two less. The falafels are a no go and should not even be an option here. They are basically mini wooden balls. I've had some bad falafels before but this shouldn't even be considered as one. Practically inedible and really the reason why I took away one star from my rating. Other than that, the rest of the ingredients seem fresh and tasted good enough. My entire bowl, besides the rice, was vegetarian. Besides the aforementioned terrible excuse of a falafel and the rice I had typical tomato cucumber salad, lemony potatoes, beets, corn, Gigante beans (love those), broccoli n cauliflower. And I had hummus on the side. Hummus is definitely not the greatest. I wouldn't recommend this bowl option for lunch. But for take away dinner, especially a vegetarian one, it's definitely a viable option. read more

This a great place for lunch in the Garment District near MSG and Penn Station. The chef Thasos from Rhodes has done a wonderful job with the menu and there are a wide variety of traditional Greek specialties to enjoy, of which my favorite is the roast lamb. I had a sandwich (Greek from Greece, very tasty and toasted just right, with authentic feta and olives) and lentil soup (also very tasty). The main thing I want to point out was how considerate and helpful every single staff person was.
