The hand made baked goodies are absolutely amazing. The service was outstanding. The lady took her time explaining each item behind the glass covered counter. Their baklava and most of the sweets were not that sweet compared the Greek Baklava or Persian goodies. She gave me a sample of the sesame crisp as it was the last item and she was ready to clear the tray. The family is from Northern Iraq so different from the southern Middle East baked goods. Sold by the pound, I got 4 squares and 1 pistachio cookie which cost about $10.50. The lady said not to put the box in the refrigerator as it will dry it out, but leave on the counter away from the sun and it will last 2-3 weeks. Well, it's my stomach and not the sun that will make this box empty! I'm looking forward to coming back for more goodies.

It is a small shop with just a simple banner so easy to miss. They sell baklava by the pound or by the piece. I mentioned it was my first time there and the lady was so friendly and gave me a complimentary piece of baklava of my choosing and to enjoy - what great service! I ended up getting half a pound of the walnut baklava and half a pound of pistachio baklava for around $22. I only got to eat the pistachio baklava and it was crispy, light, and not too sweet. This is easily my new favourite baklava place and can't wait to try more! I bought the box of baklava to my friend's Thanksgiving dinner but she didn't up sharing (haha!) but told me how much she and her husband enjoyed the sweets. Especially the Old Bean, and it's proximal. Why does he like it so much? Breakfast. Scratching your head? I'm not, because I live in his reality. This is a bakery for cakes, pasties, and other HK style sweet snacks. Even the so-called savory items in here are slightly sweet, the wiener buns are an example. As the Old Bean is wont to do, this is what he consumes for breakfast. Pastries and cake, not congee. Although he'll go out for congee, but at home, it's cake. Chestnut cake, at 9:30AM, along with robusta bean pre ground coffee, aka MJB, out of a jumbo-sized tin or plastic tub, from a percolator, after a rolling boil of 20 minutes. Basically, a combination of bitter melon and sulfuric acid is the end product, generously seasoned with 6 heaping teaspoons of sugar, and a bit of milk is the way he likes it. This is not hyperbole. It's a gruesome brew in the morning, enough to kill the appetite and palate of a starving alligator or any reptillian in the Florida everglades. So this is why I'm here. It's my living certainty. I do eat stuff from here every now and then but not on any regular basis. I order B-Day cakes from here for occasions also. It's what the seniors are accustomed to. Helpful staff. The cake was light with lots of fruit in the filling. It seemed a bit sweeter than the Asian cakes I'm used to. The sweeter cake and frosting in combination with the fruit cocktail, which is itself sweetened, made this a sweeter dessert than I would've liked. I'd be open to trying them again if it was in my neighbourhood, but it wouldn't be my first choice for Chinese desserts just based off this one cake.

It wasn't very crispy but it had a strong garlic flavour. It also didn't have a lot of layers but it was quite sweet. It was also quite large. Some of their goods are sold at Hmart if you are looking to try it. But avoid the two items that I have tried
