Again, scheduling them to come back out was an issue. Determined needed a new major part. Was without AC for over a week. Meantime weather in the upper 90s. Scheduling again was a major issue for the delay. I would have given 1 star but the people who came to install equipment were actually terrific and apologetic.

The technician was pleasant and explained to me the issue. (The one star isn't for him). He informed me that the part needed to be ordered. Okay, no problem. Their customer service by far needs some serious attention. I received a call on January 10th (less than 24 hour notice) telling me to be at my home at a certain time. I informed them that it was short notice and the earliest I could do was 3. So I was told my time would be between 3-7pm. Okay no problem. On the next day, January 11th, I take off early, book it across town to make sure I'm here by 3pm. The time passes by. I called, and no answer (it's difficult to get in touch with these people). By 6:44, I'm sending an email. So there you have it, NO CALL, NO SHOW. January 12th at 10:43am, I get this response, "I apologize for not calling yesterday but there was a problem with the supply house. The part they provided my tech will not work, and we had to order the correct replacement part. It should be available on Friday - and pending delivery we can install on Saturday. We will call on Friday to confirm that the part has arrived, and schedule a time for installation on Saturday." Well, Friday comes, no call or an email at all. Now mind you, they first came out on the 2nd. January 16th, I send them an email at 5:35am asking for an update since NO ONE CALLED ON FRIDAY. No response to my email. I had someone call me the following day and once again, no 24 hour notice telling me to be at my house at an early time. I told them no since when I left work early, no one called or showed up and again, no one called on Friday. So she tells me they will give me a call back. Fast forward to today, the 19th and I get a call at close to 4pm telling me to be home tomorrow from 2-6. Again, no 24 hour notice. I told her I can't take off again early and I have accommodated them, they need to accommodate me since I was already stood up and then on a second occasion wasn't contacted as I was told I would be. I told her the earliest I could do is 3pm. Of course, I couldn't fit in that schedule at all. But considering how they have already inconvenienced me, you would think they would accommodate my request. So she informs me that they will call me on Friday to schedule a time for Saturday. What ever happened to giving a person a 48 hour notice? I don't get it. I called my home warranty company to request another technician because this is by far poor customer service. Then when I came on here and saw the reviews, I was even more disappointed. And I told them to stop using them, the reviews are TERRIBLE.

PLEASE THINK TWICE ABOUT GIVING THIS COMPANY YOUR BUSINESS…read more March 2025 is when my nightmare began. I purchased a Trane because my AC, after trying 3 different companies, couldn't be fixed. I was proud I finally could afford a Trane. Installed 3/30/25. First sign of problems, water underneath my inside unit located in a closet in hallway. Then begins appointment after appointment trying to resolve it. 3 different changes to my piping. Accusations that it was my fault with MY piping in my foundation. Original installation did a poor job with my piping. It finally stopped leaking for a while and so did my AC. Now my coil had a Freon leak. New coil was installed. Worked for a while and then doesn't. Replaced compressor on my outside heat pump. Now I have contacted Trane to check if my unit was owned by a previous customer. I got a case manager to work with me. From what they could tell, no previous names on the serial numbers. Case manager remained on my case. Now I am looking for complete removal of the unit with 100% reimbursement per their policy on my sales invoice. Now comes more trouble. Decision was made to replace with a new Trane. New Trane installed 8/3/26. A month and 6 days later the AC stops working. Service came out 8/10. A fuse board and sensor seems to be the issue. Surprise, they don't have the parts on hand. Now I'm sitting here with no AC and no phone call with an update. 1 good thing is their service employees. Out of all of them that came to my home, and there was many, 1 was disrespectful. The management of this company is highly incompetent and what needed to happen didn't. A complete reimbursement and the extraction of the original Trane unit. Now I'm starting a new nightmare with my replacement Trane.

This review, written in June of 2024, is for work done over a year ago. The reason for the delay…read moreis that I only recently had time to fix the multiple mistakes this company made. When I went into the attic to correct a poorly installed booster fan (details below), I also discovered dangerous wiring in violation of electrical codes. See those wire connections near the duct? By code, those are supposed to be inside a junction box that is secured to house framing. But the way this was done is a FIRE and ELECTROCUTION hazard, should someone bump up against it or disturb the connection. That is what prompted me to write this review. Earlier problems: The way this all started was the house I purchased had poor air circulation to one corner of the house, as identified during the home inspection. Prior to closing, the owner had Affordable American (AA) install a booster fan. Unfortunately, they installed it in the wrong location. Instead of installing it upstream of a Y-junction, they installed it in one of the branch circuits of the Y. The problem with that is instead of boosting the air coming from the evaporator fan, it sucks air out of the other side of the Y branch. In effect, creating an endless loop of air that never gets cooled (or heated). When I notified AA of their mistake, they inspected it and quoted their full price for such work, saying it was over a year and why did I wait so long. I don't know why that should matter since it was still a faulty installation on their part. After much haggling, they finally agreed to do it for half the original quote. I then tried to schedule the work, but after many phone calls over a period of weeks, I could never get them to come out. It is clear to me that they had no intention of standing behind their work. In the end, I'm glad they didn't because I never would have seen the shoddy workmanship of the wiring mentioned earlier. I'm glad others seem to have had good experiences with Affordable American, but based on my experience, I would at least have someone knowledgeable check their work for code violations and safety issues. And don't pay them without an independent inspection as they do not stand behind their work.

My A/C stopped working, so we started looking around for a reputable company for the repair. We discovered Douglas Mechanical on Google (they have exceptional reviews there...). Reached out to them and they had a tech on site the same day, and it was on a Sunday!!! He was able to diagnose the issue, and provided several options, from just the most basic repair, to the benefits of replacing additional worn components. Given the age of the system, we opted to replace the entire unit. Also got a fantastic price as well! Furthermore, they offer an excellent warranty on both parts and labor. After closing the deal, they had an installer crew here the very next day. The team installed the entire system, and did a great job. There are three things I want when searching for a good A/C company: Quality, good customer service, and good product offering. This company sets the bar on all three!

They used to be great. Apparently, that was a limited-time offer…read more Somewhere along the way, keeping appointments became more of a creative suggestion than an actual business practice. Their internal communication seems to operate on a strict "don't tell anyone anything" policy, because nobody ever appears to know what's going on. After nearly a month of this circus, multiple service visits, spending at least three hours trapped in appointment purgatory each time, and shelling out $1,800, my AC has the same problems it had on day one. The only thing that's been fixed is my bank account balance, which is now $1,800 lighter. In exchange for that money, I also got the privilege of burning three days of work waiting around for technicians and updates that never seemed to materialize. So if the goal was to waste my time and money while changing absolutely nothing about my AC, I have to admit they absolutely nailed it. And then there's their AI assistant, which deserves special recognition as one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I've ever encountered. Few things in life compare to the joy of spending 15 minutes trapped in an endless AI loop just trying to get an update on a missed appointment. It's like arguing with a malfunctioning voicemail system that somehow developed confidence without acquiring competence. At this point, the only thing running efficiently is their ability to charge people for problems that remain unsolved.
