This week the chef had a woodfired pizza oven. Keep in mind, cider is the focus here. So, my husband's old fashioned was made with cider. Hearing this, I asked for my cider on the side rather than in my cosmo. We learned that the owner's background is movie set design and that she worked on movies like Harry Potter, so the decor was a combination of old industrial plant and haunted house. The bar had "potions" with smoke oozing out. There were also skeletons and skulls throughout the restaurant along with spooky photos that changed from normal to scary. She even allowed us to explore the different back rooms one of which she called the "swamp room." The pizza was good, and we enjoyed listening to the live music which wasn't overwhelmingly loud. Overall, everyone was kind and made us feel welcome. We later ordered the blueberry cobbler for dessert which was warm and tasty.

This was our first stop on our way. We stopped on a Wednesday at the opening of the winery. Nobody was in there except perhaps the owners were meeting and the lady that waited on us. The winery has been here for a while, the ride to the winery is through a small forest, which is exciting to us when winery visits start this way. We sampled two different ones. I had the reds and the wife had the whites. I like all of the wines that we sampled white and red. But the Rattlehead Red was my favorite and purchased a couple of those bottles to go. This was a good winery and quite spacious as well. I can see how this is a go to place with warmer weather v/s when we went into the code. Highly recommend giving this a chance.

This locally owned and operated distillery rivals the products made by the large producers. We recently stopped by and sampled their moonshines and whiskeys and were very pleased with the quality of their product. Hazard's make four flavors of 40 proof moonshine: peach, root beer, apple pie, and blackberry. All these had a nice balance between flavor, consistency, and alcohol levels. Hazard's moonshines are not syrupy sweet like some and go down very easy. We enjoyed all the flavors, with the peach and blackberry being our top two favorites. The whiskeys produced are sea-salt caramel, standard corn whiskey, and Blowtorch. The sea-salt caramel was a hit and we left with a bottle of it also. The standard corn whiskey appears to be popular, but not really an alcohol I drink. The Blowtorch brought on a sense of nostalgia, because it reminds me of the fireballs and red hot candy that I enjoyed as a kid. The tasting room is nicely decorated and staffed with members of the Hazard Family, who were very friendly, and contributed to the enjoyable time we had during our visit. She forgot my beer order twice, never tried to do anything to keep us there, upselling like more drinks or desert. Granted, she was very young so it's understandable. Our bartender, I wish I could recall her name, did a terrific job welcoming us and getting us started for dinner. We ordered adult beverages and pretzel bites with the beer cheese to start. I ordered their American IPA while my wife ordered their cherry chill, a seasonal drink. I thought the beer was absolutely tasty and delicious! The pretzel bites came out relatively quickly and were amazingly delicious along with the beer cheese. For our main courses, I ordered the Southwest chicken salad with balsamic vinaigrette instead of their Sriracha ranch and my wife ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza. Again, our meals came out relatively quickly and my Southwest chicken salad was extremely well presented! All of the flavors came together and complemented each other in my salad! I really enjoyed it! My wife thought her slice of pepperoni was fairly good though the crust could've been a little bit more done. As for the cherry chill, it was a little too sweet. That said, it was a terrific visit and if we were in the area, we definitely would be back!
