It's nice looking place and very convenient location. This was my first time getting nails done and I felt very rushed and like I was an inconvenience for them. The nails themselves were pretty good, though they started chipping immediately. They were nice enough to do a repair for free. The environment and tone of the boutique is very different from what's described on the website. Good place to go if you know what you want and speed is the most important factor. The reviews of terrible service were right and the nastiness was coming from the owner. I made an appointment here at 5:45. I arrived at 5:43 I was told to pick a color. I check in again at 5:53 she told me it's not long past the appointment time. I'm told to sit in one of the pedicure chairs and I'm sitting there until 6. I go up to reminder her my appointment was at 5:45 and I have to be somewhere at 7. It was not in a rude tone it was a reminder of the time. She gets snippy with me again as if the appointment time and my time don't matter. I gave a grace period of time & reminder twice. She then tells me she's not going to give me a pedicure and cleans up her stuff. She refuses to give me the pedicure and told me if I didn't leave she'd call the cops...So I got no service for requesting I get my pedicure done close to the time I booked. Don't go here unless you want attitude, threats and late or in my case no service. You can see from the time stamps on the top of my photos that I left without a pedicure done. Awful establishment and ownership. I booked through ClassPass so I had already paid for the service. If you don't want to stick to a schedule & honor appointment times don't allow people to book appointments or through ClassPass then. read more

I recently visited Tivvy Nail Salon, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. I purchased a Groupon, but the listing did not clearly state that basic options like length, shaping, and other standard choices would require additional charges. When I arrived and took a moment to understand the unexpected fees--after having already prepaid--I still ended up waiting an additional half hour before being seen. Once the service began, I learned there were even more up-charges for length and shaping, none of which had been disclosed beforehand. By the end, I paid around $80 total, meaning the Groupon provided no real savings. Throughout the appointment, I also experienced rude and dismissive interactions. When I asked reasonable questions about pricing and service options, the technician asked whether I had "ever gotten my nails done before," which felt unnecessary and condescending. When I pointed out that my nails looked blotchy, the technician seemed defensive and repeatedly asked "Where?" despite it being clearly visible. While she eventually offered another coat, the tone made the situation uncomfortable. Later, I was told it was "too late" to make a reasonable adjustment because other customers were waiting, and I was expected to accept the result as-is. This made the service feel rushed and dismissive. After the appointment, I called to request a repaint, but the owner yelled at me, argued, made inappropriate comments--including about my appearance during the service--and then hung up. When I attempted to call back, they declined my calls. Overall, the lack of transparency, the unprofessional behavior from both staff and ownership, and the poor customer service make this salon very difficult to recommend. Swung by here without an appointment to fix a broken nail done elsewhere. Everyone was incredibly friendly, and I'm super happy with the gel x repair. The salon is gorgeous, and the uv lights set under each manicure station is ingenious. There was also a large selection of gel polishes. I arrived a little early and was offered a pedicure. I took them up on it and Tammy was so kind and did an amazing job! Yep, I am still coming here after two years! I now see boss lady, Caitlyn, for my nail services and she never disappoints! I get a dip manicure and regular pedicure every time I visit the salon and the staff always treats me well. I'm a very indecisive person so whenever Caitlyn asks me what color I want for my dip manicure service, which is every time I come in so not sure why she hasn't learned her lesson yet (LOL), I let her decide because I trust her, she's the professional, and I like to let her creativity take control. I found this nail salon as I was passing by. The salon looks very high end and clean from the outside and inside it's even prettier. My first visit I received a gel pedicure by Richard. When he threw the rose petals in the bowl I was sold. All of the products he used smelled amazing and everything was sanitized and clean. The pedicure wasn't rushed he paid attention to detail and it was very relaxing. My second visit I received an acrylic full set by Caitlyn. TLDR: Very uncomfortable experience, waited almost an hour for my appointment, and poor quality service. Updated comment after the owner has replied: As you can see in how the owner replied to my comment (and others) do not expect to be respected at all. I've never been to such an unprofessional business and I hope others can avoid... just as you can see in her comment, she makes the entire experience very uncomfortable. I also never said I did not want my service... I hope this owner can take a break as she clearly needs it. See my pictures as she requested. I walked into my appointment and was told my nail tech had "called out" and that it would be "a small wait". I said I was flexible... after almost an hour, I asked when I was going to be seen and why I was never called me to reschedule. The nail tech said their entire system was down (?) and that she could be "really fast" on my acrylic full set... and to "just sit down" and she would show me how good she was. We then sat in awkward silence for 35 minutes as she rushed to do my nails... and you can tell she rushed. I will need to file and clean up my nails at home because she did such a sloppy job... I then saw on a piece of paper, the nail tech who was working on me was the lady I originally booked my appointment with. So I am not too sure if she lied to me or what was going on... overall it was a very uncomfortable experience and I felt lied to the whole time. Nail salon has cute decor but is not very clean overall. Not one person working apologized for the delay or showed a sliver of customer service. Super bummed as I was excited to try this place out but overall it was a huge waste of my time and I'm embarrassed at how poorly my nails look. I did receive a $20 discount after I asked if there could be a price adjustment. The nail tech told me to "just sit down" and I said I was not sitting until I knew the price I was paying as this was not a full service experience. She then rudely said "I was going to give you $20 off once you sat down". I was in town for a wedding and didn't have time for a manicure, so I decided to get them done in Chicago. I found Tivvy Nails because they are the first salon that popped up when I searched for IBX treatment. I emailed Caitlyn for an appointment, and she promptly responded back and fit me into her schedule. I'm so glad I went to get my nails done at Tivvy. Not only is the name salon adorable, but Caitlyn reminded me that I shouldn't settle for a half-ass rough manicure from average nail shops. I appreciated that she was quick, but efficient. She also genuinely cares about your nail health, and doesn't try to upsell you. My nails were perfection, and the IBX treatment definitely works wonders! Caitlyn is just all around wonderful... Clean professional salon with manis and pedis that last! Tivvy is hands-down the best nail salon I've been to - excellent sanitation with discarding tools after every mani/pedi, super clean floors that I couldn't find a speckle of dirt, fresh organic scrubs made by the owner, nice hospitality with complementary glass of white/red wine, nice selection of Essie nail polishes and found a new sheer color with silver glitter, and topped with a coat of friendly service. This is only salon that I've been to that doesn't have that classic polluted pungent chemical smell. A nice breath of fresh air! The $60 classic Mani/Pedi deal is well worth it in the Loop! It's the nicest salon downtown. My classic Mani lasted for over a week while my Pedi looked like new after 10 days. Maryanne did a phenomenal job and didn't rush through my mani/pedi. She even went the extra mile to help me put my heels back on. The girl next time to me got a stunning Umbria Powder that was truly a work of art by the owner. The owner, Caitlyn is quite talented with a fiery and witty personality. I couldn't stop laughing at her amusing jokes and stories of nightmare clients. She really takes pride in her salon and using the highest quality products. It truly shows as it's the nicest and cleanest salon I've been to in the country. The salon is really difficult to find, you can't spot it from the street. You'll see a bunch of decal stickers on the windows "Fuga Salon" on the 2nd floor of a corner office building. That's where Tivvy Nail & Spa is located, they share salon space with Fuga. You'll have to enter through a small unassuming door tucked on Michigan Avenue, sign in at the front desk, take the elevator to the 2nd floor, and walk to the back of the Fuga salon. 10 minutes after navigating through this labyrinth, I finally found Tivvy and well worth the hunt. I wish there was a sign for Tivvy outside, would be so much easier to find! For the 1st time, I found a mani/pedi to be truly relaxing and a wonderful experience. Will definitely come back when I'm in town and looking forward to another dose of Caitlyn's stories! read more

So I've been getting regular dip manis for about 6 years now and this was one of the best I've ever had! Service was great from the start - he was really good about listening to what I wanted and adjusted the shape, length, etc. exactly as I asked. But what really impressed me was the fact that my dip mani lasted FIVE WHOLE WEEKS without so much as a chip! They even held up when I went rock climbing 3 times in the span of a week! Sadly I don't live in Chicago so I had to reluctantly go into my regular salon back home to take it off once it had grown out to the point of looking ridiculous but I'll be coming back here next time I'm in town. read more

WOW I am obsessed with my new nails! Tivvy nails is definitely the place to go if you're looking for high quality at a not too over-the-top price. I got the dip powder manicure and chose the pretty cotton white color with tips. Nara did my nails, and they came out looking clean/natural and feeling very fresh. She worked at a brisk pace, but with precision and detail. The nails came out amazing! As a tip, I would definitely recommend making an appointment a few days in advance, but even without one, I waited for less than 30 minutes. They seem to be pretty nice about walk-ins. Also a piece of advice for any nail place - I would recommend always coming with a reference photo to ensure that you get exactly what you're looking for. Another thing I wanted to note is the location. The place can be easy to miss since it's situated on the second floor of a building on Michigan Avenue. After attempting to navigate to the salon several times, and failing, I finally located the revolving doors leading to the area. While this might be a minor convenience to some new to the place, it also creates a level of security from random outsiders coming in especially in a place filled with so many women. I appreciated this fact, and I'm sure it also provides comfort to those working here. Overall, the interior was nice and clean, and they offered a versatile selection of nail options. Nick is the absolute best at gel nails. No joke, the best in the game. I pick and bite my nails when anxious and so my nail polish, whether it's acrylic or gel, always comes off within a week, but not when Nick does them! They lasted a record breaking 2 and a half weeks! And that was only because I straight up broke off 1 of my nails. The other 9 nine nails were still immaculate and ready to last another month. I have a professional nail kit at home so I really don't go to a nail salon often, but he did such an amazing job that I went back for him immediately after I broke that nail. The downside? Nick doesn't do designs unless it's french or very simple designs. It's all good though. Nick is SO GOOD. I can't say it enough!! If you're wondering why 4 stars instead of 5, it's because I honestly can't say I would go to anyone else in the salon other than Nick. Yanna did the Santa hat designs on my nails after Nick did the foundation of the nails (I literally told the salon I needed Nick to do my nails or I didn't want them done at all), and she did a good job but I had to point out a few times things she did not do correctly. She fixed them though, so no complaints here. Main takeaway here? NICK IS SO GOOD, GUYS. YOU HAVE TO GO TO NICK (for one color or french gel nails). read more

I went to get a pedicure just to have my toe nails cut and a foot massage, no nail polish. My nails were cut so short that the cuticle on my right big toe was cut and bacteria was introduced. I ended up in emergency care several days later with a horrible infection and have been using a strong antibiotic cream for over a week. My toe is healing but the skin is pealing off now.
