TJ Maxx is, I've discovered, THE place to buy luggage and travel accessories that pass TSA safety standards.... ....and to do so affordably! Prior to our recent vacation, a family trip to TJ Maxx was an absolute MUST!!

TJ Maxx just gets me. The cool thing about it is that they have items for people trying to keep in any price range - from the Michael Kors to the non-name brand stuff. It's such a GREAT place to shop. The people that work there aren't overbearing and everything is pretty organized every time I go. Maybe the checkout people could be a little more cheerful, but other than that it's a wonderful spot! I would definitely give this one a 9/10.

This Rack location has a decent selection. Most recently went shoe shopping with my boyfriend and he found exactly what he needed. Sometimes the store seems a little messy and chaotic with merchandise not displayed properly. It seems customers and employees just kind of let merchandise get tossed about. Other than that, good place to shop for better quality clothing and accessories at discounted prices.

The dress I originally planned to wear did not work out, so I ordered another one. It's technically floor length, but I'm 5'10" so it stops at the ankle instead of covering my feet. So now the shoes have to be stunning enough that no one will even notice the hemline. I ordered a pair on Amazon that were supposed to arrive Friday. Then I got the dreaded update that they were delayed to Saturday... at 10 PM. Well, that's not going to work. So I made the mad dash to Nordstrom Rack Saturday morning. I walked in with low expectations, fully prepared to hit multiple stores before finding anything close to what I needed. Instead, I found the most gorgeous Badgley Mischka crystal pumps. They're slightly bigger than my normal size, but that actually works in my favor. They're comfortable, my toes can move, and I can already tell I won't be plotting my escape from them halfway through the evening. While I was there I grabbed a strapless bra and even found a formal bag that works better than the clutch I originally planned to carry. Sibyl at checkout was the perfect finishing touch to my morning. Friendly, outgoing, and genuinely helpful. The whole experience felt like the Nordstrom culture of service I studied back in graduate school.

When you think of the Arboretum, you likely think of businesses from Capitol of Texas Highway and Research Blvd including Great Hills Trails and Jollyville Road areas. This area has evolved over the 25+ years we have lived nearby. Some anchor stores include the Cheesecake Factory, Soma, and Chico's in one section of the Arboretum. Another Area include Target, Jason's Deli and World Market. The Arboretum also includes stores like Hallmark, La Madeline and TJ Maxx (for all the Maxinistas). The Renaissance Hotel is a notable hotel used for special events and conferences and has been around as long as I can remember. You can find just almost anything in this area of the city. We lost some key businesses like TGIF, Macaroni Grill, Pier 1 Imports and Gap. However, places like Trader Joe's and Modern furniture have been great additions. The mix of stores is nicely balanced between... local and national level businesses. The layout is especially walkable with places to sit and relax. The green space at the Arboretum is truly a highlight from picnic areas near Amy's ice cream to the Arboretum duck pond. The Arboretum offers a plethora of business to frequent. The Arboretum, in general, has moderately priced goods and great customer service. We welcome you to try our niche of Austin.

It's always neatly arranged which makes it easier to try to find the things you need. The pricing here is solid, just like a typical Marshalls. I like coming here for random not-quite-necessity type things like dish sponges, dog toys, and hangers. I am also huuuge fan of the snack aisle in every discount department store. Random chip and popcorn flavors are typically available. Plus there are the syrup flavors! You can typically get a zero sugar syrup for coffee or other drinks. Also, the wide range of colorful pots and pans caught my attention, too. I moved over to the comforter and sheets; they were very pretty. I like the prices on the sheets; given the high thread count and the fact that they were sateen, the prices were pretty reasonable. I even saw some candy I really like. Gorgeous displays, stunning pieces everywhere you look, and it's honestly just fun to wander even if you're just browsing. Each floor is basically a little runway of gorgeousness, and I kept catching myself doing slow laps like I was at a museum of handbags and shoes. Everything is styled beautifully, so even if you don't plan to buy, it still feels like a full designer experience. There is luxury pricing, but even if you want to just browse there are tons of options and so much help in the store for your budget. What really made it stand out though was the service. I only had an actual consultant in Chanel, but everywhere else in the store I still felt taken care of. Staff were attentive and kind without hovering, and I never got that awkward vibe of being ignored or followed. I got to browse with zero pressure, which makes all shopping so much more enjoyable. Even the parking feels fun with palm trees out front. If you're going for a certain brand or inside boutique (like Chanel), give yourself extra time to explore. This location is also right by an area with a bunch of shopping, food spots, and fun stuff to do (we even did VR nearby), so it's easy to make this stop part of a whole outing.
