T.J. Maxx is such a great store. A little bit of everything. I come here every few weeks just to see what I find. I've found great deals on on clothes, it's the best place to buy luggage, and I've bought so many dog toys here. (My dogs, Oscar and Mayer, are so spoiled.) It's also a great place to buy cheap ear buds ad phone charging cables. And the inventory changes so you never know what you might find. This is probably the worst TJ Maxx I have ever visited. The store is completely disheveled. There are empty shelves and empty (large, middle of the floor) displays around every corner. I literally almost tripped on some of the trash that the staff left in the isle. The checkup process was the only high point of my visit. I was able to get into a somewhat long line and check out very quickly. The cashier was quick, friendly and very attentive to what she was doing in the moment (not checking her phone or having sidebar conversations). TJ Maxx is a discount dept store that has everything. Men's/Women's/Children's clothes, sleepwear/undergarments, accessories, skin and hair products, designer handbags, and home goods. I love their selection of handbags. They have a variety of colors and styles fairly comparable to the outlets although still a bit pricier. It's a hit or miss for me. Today I got a cute dress, two t-shirts, and 2 workout tights for $75. Not bad. I scored one Reebok tights for $15. Recently when I went to the Reebok outlet it was $40+. I only wish they had a section for Petites. Check out lines are usually long but move fairly fast. Each register is numbered and a sales associate will call when their register becomes available. read more

Hi, my name is Stephanie T and I went to TJ Maxx during holiday season and made it out to tell my tale. I love TJ Maxx for their wide range of products I don't really need, but really want. Like more candles for my collection, extra towels for the guests that aren't coming over due to covid, holiday knick knacks, etc. You know how it goes. I generally like this location because it is one big square and everything is kept pretty clean. I was able to find the items on my list and didn't even need to go to the Homesense or Target next door, where I equally get sucked in. What was so surprising on my recent trip was that there was a line out the door - a la Trader Joe's - to comply with covid capacity! I couldn't believe how packed it was (while also being fully aware I was contributing to the long line problem). So buyers, be forewarned that this could be happening on your next trip and to dress in layers should you be waiting outside. read more

Needing a pair of jeans because the only one that I brought with me to Baltimore got drenched at the ballgame last night. They're not wearable and I have room in my suitcase, so let's go shopping. Sadly, the men's department at TJ Maxx left me wanting more. A lot more. In the XL and XXL area, there was a great selection. Of three pairs of sweatpants. I am that chick that they talk about on the tv. Thee maxxionista. I love all things TJ Maxx. I think it is an awesome discount chain where you can find amazing things. However, I have not had the greatest experiences at this location. This store is relatively new to Columbia Crossing, it is HUGE, lots of racks, clothes, things, but in regards to their selection....meh. I have been here on several locations hoping that I will find....something. Most times, I leave with a sad face. I know that these types of stores are hit or miss, but seriously, I need a hit, a BIG one! C'mon! read more

I only come here on my lunch breaks. Never on weekends.Weekends are full of soccer moms ready to take you down for good deals all for themselves. Never busy on weekdays(noon) that can give one all the time you need without dealing with people blocking the aisles with their carts or themselves, long lines with upset soccer moms ready to scream at anyone they cross. Men's area seem very conservative in styles. Great children's area...toys and clothes. Home area is always a must see for something interesting. Hit or miss depending on the season and if new items arrives when the day you visit. read more

This TJ Maxx is Ok. By all means it's a great store and I will continue to come here, but there is nothing really that sets it apart or give you that "wow" factor. It is a very large store and there is plent of room. I've been a few others where it's very cramped. This one is not like that. The clothes are for the most part organized and not slug everywhere (see my review for Khols). They also have a great selection... I cant speak for the women's section obviously... lol but for Men, they have basically everything. If you're looking for some quick and cheap athletic clothes, this is the place to come. If you're into brand names, which I am not, they have pretty much everything. If you're just looking for something to either keep you warm or cool while you workout... then I'm almost certain you will find some cheap solution here. The home goods portion isnt so great and other TJ Maxxs I've been to. Also the furniture section is pretty much useless. They do have some pretty nice frames here for not much at all. Definitely shop here... place is great! read more

I'm going to give the store manager and the employees a high five for maintaining this store so well. It is one of the cleanest and most well-maintained TJ Maxx store I have seen in the DMV area. The store is extremely spacious. For its size, I don't think that it carries enough items. For those who prefer store layouts that give you a lot of room to maneuver, this is your ideal TJ Maxx to shop. read more

I like this TJ MAXX cause it's big & well lit. they have a super high ceiling - it helps with the endless racks of crap. Lol. I agree with others who said their selection is lacking though. Dude the jewelry section is a joke. I tried so hard to find some pretty baubles to buy on several occasions & failed. The exception were the beautiful luggage, purse & shoes sections. I did some serious damage there. They have sooooo much potential. I really like it but I could love it if they got more variety. read more

TJMaxx is my favorite store for home goods. This one was no different but the store Coordinator was absolutely the worst experience. Two of my items didn't have price tags on them and there were no other similar items. While I normally refrain from buying those items, I have been to four TJMaxx stores looking for it. I go to the register to ask about finding a price. The store clerk was new but clearly distraught about the fact that she had to call her manager to the front of the store. Once she arrived, I realized why. This woman was terribly belittling to her and was very upset that she was called to the front while she was talking to her friend who was also in the store. The employee didn't say a word but I immediately felt bad that I had her to call the coordinator to the front of the store. Everyone there seems to be afraid of her and it's ridiculous. I wish I could have gotten the lady's name or picture to report her to district. She's a thin, African woman working on 08/27 at about 3pm. My one regret was not sticking up more for the employee that is forced to endure this harassment. read more

Great location in columbia with friendly checkout staff. I usually stop by here to look for random gadget and rear finds. This TJ Maxx location has a Home goods section where you can find things like paintings, candle holders, kitchen trash cans etc.... They do have a lot of stuff.. and sometimes if the item is held in inventory long enough.. they knock the price down even more. The selection and clean store are the reasons I shop there. FYI there is no layaway so be prepared to shell out cash upfront if you looking to buy anything read more

Always something new to find for your home and clothing needs! Prices are cheap and you never know what you'll find. It does take persistence to find something of really good value, but that something is sometimes worth it! Fairly clean and neat for a TJMaxx. Lines can be long, but they try to move quickly. Who doesn't love variety and great prices. I used to go to TJ Maxx a lot years ago. Somehow I forgot just how good of a store it can be. The only issue with this store is the amount of the selections can be limited so you may not find your size or the color you would like. The quality of employees has really gone downhill. Young people with attitudes and no sense of urgency when the line is extremely long. Prepare to wait a while no matter the time or day of the week. Honestly some of them shouldn't be working with customers at all since all they do is grunt instead of speaking. If you have a return, you will fluster half of them. They put breakable items together in bags without wrapping them. I shouldn't have to tell the to wrap them! There are some good employees so kudos to them, but these newer people, last 6-8 months or so, leave a lot to be desired. I kind of dread going there which shouldn't be the case. I went into this store yesterday to do a return. Welp, the cashier gave me a store credit card and wrote my name on it. I was a bit baffled because I didn't know this was their new procedure. I asked the manager if I could combine my gift card balance with the "store credit" and was told no. The manager then explained that I could use both cards at the same time which I don't have a problem with. And further explaining that when I use the store credit card I will have to show my ID. My issue is that I'm used to giving my gift cards to my kids so they can use it if I don't. Now that I have to show an ID for the store credit I'm confined to being in the presence of my kids when they decide to use it. This is such an inconvenience and the TJ Maxx company needs to rethink this process. read more

There are nine registers and only 4 running them. Line is long, probably 25 minutes to check out. Some clerks do not have a sense of urgency. Saw at least 2 managers and a coordinator. None of which stepped up to a register to help. I would think if two managers would jump on registers, within 10 minutes, the line waiting to check out would be much more reasonable. read more

My shopping experience here is always enjoyable. From cute purses to face/body skin care to chic outfits, I always find something that I want to buy. This is my favorite discount store in the Columbia area. If you get lucky, you will find brand items at a real bargain price! I went in today and found a cute Bebe backpack and Michael Kors sweater, both were last pieces in stock at $40 each. They have plenty of off brand items or less known items if you are not into buying brand only products. Sometimes brand items are good to purchase because the quality material of the product is better. They have clearance sections throughout the store which I like browsing through because they have interesting items on the shelf. Overall, this is the only TJ Maxx I've ever visited and I recommend it very much! read more

Went in for a return/exchange with a receipt. One item had all the tags but the store tag and I explained when I bought it the tag was not on there. I also explained I'd be happy to find the item so they could match it. My cashier was fine but the possibly other associate or/manager hit a hard eye roll at me and was saying nasty things about how they'd have to check cause I could've stolen it. She held up the line and called for a price check. She wouldn't let any of the cashiers ring up items so the line was backing up. I kept saying I would be happy to find the item because this was becoming increasingly embarrassing. When they finally did get the item and allowed the return she repeatedly said nasty things till my transaction was over and I ran out of there. As a black woman I felt specifically targeted. I tried to be as pleasant as possible but this woman could not see past her preconceived notion of me. Will not return and I'm very unhappy with this location. read more

One of the most unprofessional experiences that I have ever had in retail shopping. 3... yes 3 sales associates stood while I was waiting patiently because none of them knew how handle the transaction. I had to ask them could they call someone who could. When that person arrived after my near 30 wait her first words to the others were I should've call out? Terrible customer service and what's sad is that I will have to deal with this particular store because of the quality of products that they keep in stock. read more

The worst TJ Maxx I've ever been to. I spent hours finding cute stuff for good prices and when I went to pay, they took half my things and repriced them for higher because they were "expensive" brands that are "never this cheap" btw it was just a couple of Free People jeans that were priced similarly to Nordstrom Rack, not like it was Prada or Gucci. She was extremely rude and seemed more interested in examining each thing I was buying. Always something to find in housewares you may not need but want! So it's a mix...a little home goods, a little marshalls (owned by same company). Store is clean, staff is friendly. I typically love this TJ Maxx! However!!! Today I went to pick up my layaway which was due Yesterday and I called and told them I may not be able to make it! The lady told me not to worry bc I could pick it up today! I get there and where the hell is my layaway!???? No where to be found! I'm pissed the hell off!
