I have had to throw at least 20 gallons of milk away pre-expiration date for some reason their milk goes sour very quickly and I kick myself every time I buy it and find this out. Unfortunately, this is the only Walmart in Columbia, which the second largest city in Maryland, and it is absolutely miserable. Poor management, poor selection of products that has been shrinking for last ten years. This Walmart has poor and indifferent management and most of the employees. Very sad. One thing that's for sure is Walmart is gonna Walmart. This is mostly because as I was getting into the self checkout line, it was curving back toward the aisles. The man in front of me said multiples of the self checkout registers weren't working. WRONG. 2 minutes later, a Walmart employee comes by and turns 4 of the self checkout registers on, some time after people had been waiting in line. This makes no sense to me. Why not turn everything on BEFORE customers are inconvenienced??? Also, this Walmart needs a major renovation. It's just sad and depressing in there, giving the poorest of the poor K-Mart vibes, which doesn't align with higher end Columbia. I didn't need any assistance while I was shopping, which is good because there were no Walmart employees to be found. All that said, 2 stars because I did find all the items I wished to buy. I know Walmart typically gets a bad rep for its customer service, but I want to give a shout out to one of the employees. I was at the self checkout kiosk and one of my items would not scan. She took the initiative to ask if I needed assistance. There are employees who go above and beyond contrary to popular beliefs. Another reason why they have earned five stars is because they sell two of my favorite candy bars, Whatchamacait and Mr. Goodbar in snack size. I rarely see Whatchamacalit sold in stores and I never see Mr. Goodbar available in snack size. I also like that they have a larger array of gift wrapping supplies that are considerably cheaper than its rival, Target. A few months ago they had a coupon for buy two cards, get one free. I never see that offered by Target. It's solely the candy bars that really keep me coming back. read more

December knife around 9:48. I slipped and fell on a liquid substance that was in the children's department. Witnesses saw me fall and told several store workers of the incident. My shoes were so slippery to put back on, that I had to purchase a pair of shoes. meanwhile I'm sitting 10 minutes asking to speak to the supervisor. She never came up fr of customer about my concerns. I will be pursuing a lawsuit. For one, the staff had no concerns then he asked me if I needed an ambulance they just walked around like it was nothing ! But the fact that the supervisor didn't even come up to assist Thank God, I recorded it. It was the behavior of the supervisor that I didn't like. read more

This wal-mart is not fully stocked with everything you need to survive the apocalypse! I don't think it's a super wal-mart and I usually only go to WM with a full grocery section. So don't expect to come here for lemons and avocados. They have a good party section, toy area, and Jewelry display. The men's clothing, house furnishings, and pharmacy leave you feeling like you should have went to target. There's a terrible traffic jam trying to get into the parking lot. They have this BJs gas station next to wal mart when BJs is I'm the other side of town. I honestly try not to use this WM often, but sometimes it avoided. read more

I can't give this Walmart an "A-OK" because it's a "Meh. I've experienced better." Shelves stocked and aisles tidy, despite a crew of associates unboxing and leveling everything from muffins to deodorant. I just needed two things, finding only one and not the other. The one I did find was well stocked and organized, if maybe a little picked over. The one I did not find, well, why is the Home Office so far away from the Home department? THIS STORE IS A DUMPSER FIRE I went to ring up a board game, self serve, and for some reason the register was having difficulty with my credit card. The girl who supervised the self serve area came over and was really obnoxious and rude, so at some point, I I said that's OK, I'll ring it up myself, but she refused to give me back my card or get out of my way. I said again I would like my card back and finally she gave it to me. She still block the register with her body so I went to register at the other end, so then the girl ran down there and barged between me an the register, held her hands up and refused to let me ring up my item. I said I just want to ring up my board game. The b**ch lied and said "this register is broken and closed." Then she went and got a lady from the line and escorted her to the SAME register and told her to use it! The customer had the decency to refuse because she saw I was obviously in line ahead of her. Then the b**ch started telling me off, but I said you can't discriminate against me and not let me check out my item but let other people check out. I just wanted to ring up my board game because it was game night at a friends house and this is what I was bringing, it was too late to keep shopping around, other wise I would have just left. Finally the girl was yelling at me so loud a manager came over and had to escort her away and she was still screaming the whole time. I rang up my board game with no issues and was out of there in a few seconds. I should sue them for the way I was treated, but a better idea would be just to BULLDOZE the entire dumpster bin of a store and build something else there, ANYTHING would be better. read more

This location absolutely SUCKS!!! They never have anything in stock and when they do, it's very limited. Their inconvenient hours are still altered for Covid-19 even though most competitors have returned to their usual hours, including social distancing and face masks in the process. Not to mention, after a certain time, only self-checkout is available to paying customers - I don't work here so why do I have to shop, scan, bag, load, and pay for my own stuff? The employees are almost always rude or curt, especially around closing time (8:30 pm). This location needs an entire overhaul, from the unpleasant employees to the limited stock options. Now...I know that there's some sort of ridiculousness associated with reviewing a Wal-Mart, but I just wanted to put this out there as sort of a PSA for anyone who stumbles upon this. I have never had a good experience at this Wal-Mart. 1) Literally, I kid you not, every time I have come here, there is at least one young person (sometimes an employee) who will try to say something like "Torimoto" or "Ching chung ching" as I walk by because I'm Asian-American. This is the ONLY place I've been to in Columbia/Ellicott City that I've experienced this kind of narrow-mindedness. Seriously, one of the top reasons why I avoid this Wal-Mart is because of the sheer amount of idiotic people I seem to encounter here. 2) The shelves are disorganized and common things are frequently out of stock. Why is the value pack Windex in a corner of the bottom row of the air freshener aisle and not with the other Windexes? Why was there no basic office supplies on the shelves like lead refills or binder reinforcers? Unlike the other reviewers, I never experienced long lines here, so I'll give it two stars. And last time I was here, the cashier was actually pretty friendly and helpful. I don't care that the workers have tattoos, piercings or whatever, it'd just be nice if they treat their customers, regardless of race, with dignity and respect. read more

Not only does this wal mart epitomize every, well earned, negative comment in Yelp or any other rating app but this place seems to relish in that reputation. It's in a nice shopping center in Columbia adjacent to Panera Bread but it's nasty and disorganized. Boxes of food are opened and scattered on the shelves. The cashiers glare at you then cackle and gossip with each other while the line wraps around the corner into the aisles. I am a pretty easy going person who finds the positive, or at least the amusing in any situation. This Walmart has no redeeming value. Bad location, bad layout, bad selection and really bad staff. I saw many of the reviews by Walmart haters with a political axe to grind and I am not one of those. I have been in Walmarts all over the country and most are well organized with decent staff. The Columbia store has to be the bottom of the list of thousands of Walmart stores in every category. I really truly have a strong dislike for this Walmart. Since moving, this is now the closest Walmart to me. I don't like the layout of the store. It's so weird! I feel like I was walking in circles looking for something. Another bummer is that this is not a Super Walmart. Therefore, no groceries. They have a few grocery items but honestly, don't waste your energy. Just go to the regular grocery store. 9 times out of 10, you won't find what you're looking for anyway. Then to top it off, the staff aren't the friendliest. The only thing that makes me happy about this Walmart is the fact that it's in a shopping center with a bunch of other stores and places to eat. I ran into this Walmart a few days after moving here and it's definitely one of the smallest Walmart stores that I have been to. I was attempting to complete my weekly grocery trip here, but I had some difficulty doing so as a result of the limited stock. I would definitely recommend that you only go to this Walmart for a quick trip for one or two items, and not for a complete grocery trip. The store was very busy, and I attribute this to the fact that there are few Walmart stores in the Columbia are. I would return to this Walmart for a quick trip! read more

This has to be the worst Walmart I have been too. The store seems to be very disorganized and most the employees won't answer ur questions at all. The first item on our list was bread, the first thing we saw was a bread that have turned blue. We looked for a supervisor so the can have someone check on their bread but there was none to be found. So we walked away and we tried to talk to the first employee we found but she was very rude so we left it and let it be. We decided that we can not get any food item and old shooed for dry product. Then we found a little tub of hand sanitizer spray misplaced. When we checked out we asked the cashier where the correct place to find them was so we can add 1 more her response was" a man checked out about 20 of them earlier so I don't know where you will find them" . The answer I was looking for was.....if we have any you will find them at isle.... or if she is super nice ... oh I check in the system, we have about ... in store and they will be in isle... Nope, she didn't even care or seem to know what it is. And I asked her so you guys allow for a person to buy 20 of this while some people don't even have any? She was like I don't even know what they are. Over all, it is the worst store, no sense of social distancing or cleaning. It seems like they don't even know what is going on out there in the world. I have seen employees arrange carts with their bare hands then go on with touching the registers and shelves . I felt so dirty coming out that I wiped and sprayed and sanitizer my whole body including my cloth. Drive a few miles and go to the one in laurel. It is so much better. I live closer to DC and the Walmart's I usually go to are very busy so the whole point of me driving around 20 miles to Columbia was to find a Walmart that is a little less busy for safety purposes. Oh and in case you don't know, they don't have any fresh vegetables or meats available. I had a terrible experience, I went there and it was a long line (which was fine) When i was next for selfscan the attendant the scanner was only taking cash. The attendant basically said oh well. The service was terrible, i had to qait an extra 15 minutes, Customer service was not helpful at all. Better than the one in Halethorpe but that's not saying much. That other one is a war zone. This is a smaller Walmart which means goods are piled high & it's hard to maneuver around with a cart. Service isn't especially friendly or efficient. Checkout lines can be insanely long on weekends & during holidays. The shelves are sparse frequently. Parking lot is bad news. Cramped & hard to get in & out of. I only come here on weekdays in the am & only if buying an item here will get me significant savings. read more

Very convenient. When I got there the kiosk didn't have my order in the system, even though I had an email confirmation. No one was working pickup. 15 associates walk by without trying to help.
